If there isn't enough water in the main tank it won't take water from the side tank so be aware of that. I haven't had any issues and so far it's worked great.

I have been wanting this for a couple of years and kept watching it and deciding if it is worth the price tag, Well let me answer that for you YES!!! It works great, quite and the ice well come on it is the best ice on earth!!! I also have owned it for a couple months now so that I could give an honest review... It is worth every dollar spent...

This time we opted to put the cost of repair in to this ice maker - best decision ever…wish we had done it sooner…if you are in Texas, this is like Sonic ice - LOVE

If I had known it existed a year earlier I would have bought it. Best Buy had it for about $75 higher than the competition with two day delivery, but we got it same day on a whim. The design has some opportunities. For this uber-high-class (and price point) appliance I appreciated where the design and documentation were above average. Two key elements are failing: 1. There is no sound proofing on the device. I have a sound proof dishwasher right underneath it (the best Samsung dishwasher made) - I cannot hear the dishwasher from more than 5 feet away. I can hear this device anywhere in the house (3000 sq ft). It's not obnoxiously loud, but certainly appliance makers know how to make appliances nearly silent. Make it bigger in each dimensions and add some insulation. 2. The side tank tube should be routable underneath the device instead of behind. I am so happy I could put the tank on either side (mine is on the left, opposite of the photo) but it looks really out of place. Some plastic cuts on the bottom could make a path for it. I might do it myself after the warranty.

But its very loud and the tank on side does not empty in botto. Tank on its own. We have to fill water all the time and it is not what we really wanted to do.

We have some information on our website about the different sounds you may hear. If you'd like to check it out. If the Ice Maker is making a continuous grinding noise, this is not normal. Note: If it is doing this, please contact Opal Support at myopalservice.com or call 866-907-6718, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, EST. ~ There may be bubbles in the tube connecting the Side Tank to the Opal if the tube is not laying flat. Try adjusting the tube to allow the water to flow. Once the water line is cleared, water should start flowing and should not need further adjusting. If this does not work, remove the Side Tank from the base and then place it back in the base. This should clear any air that is trapped. We hope this is helpful. Hoping to rectify this issue sooner than later, over all I love this machine, makes the best ice when it is not making shaved ice.

Loud squealing noises, no ice production. I would except better longevity out of a 600$ ice maker.

When you’re wanting that “good ice”, this will surely deliver. We are an active household of 4, and even with multiple trips daily to the ice bin, I don’t recall ever seeing it empty. It was a bit on the pricey side, and BB was able to do a price match a few days after I purchased it when they lowered the price, but still worth the spend.

Recommed you putchase the Geek Squad 4 Year protection as you will likely need it. This one lasted two years and was just replaced with the newer model,
