Happy I did not get the side tank, I didn’t want something else to clean and for a family of 3, I add water about every other day. Highly recommend!

I just needed to be patient. Ive had the ice maker for about a month now and its better than my previous ice maker

Both are still in use the side tank is very useful as we use it as a countertop easy to clean and maintain and it makes the perfect ice. Got this one to get ready for the holidays and always have plenty of ice on hand.

We recommend following the instructions in the "Care and Cleaning" section on pages 7-9 of the Owner's Manual. You can find the manual under the "Features" section on the Best Buy product page.

It’s much quieter than the original Opal and the air intake is in the back with a reusable air filter screen. My old one would collect dust and stopped working until I figured that bit out. This makes ice so fast. It is a joy. I use the app to turn it on remotely and it tells you to sanitize every couple of days. We use reverse osmosis water so no scale build up. We sanitize 1 time a month. Like nugget ice? Buy this. Any bad reviews are from older units. This is great

Posted .We appreciate your feedback and encourage you to follow our recommendations for descaling your Opal every 2-3 weeks and sanitizing the unit every week or more often depending on your water quality. Works just as advertised and makes delicious chewable ice. We did not run out for 6 people. More expensive but worth it if you can afford it. I did purchase on sale. There are good smaller ones that may work for you if only 2 to 3 people.
