The best Ice ever. It makes ice non stop as long as you keep it filled with water. I store ice in my freezer as well. I will invest in the side water reservoir. I have completed both the cleaning cycle and the sanitizing cycle and both are easy to complete and understand. I would highly recommend this ice maker.

This is our second one. The last one the motor got really noisy so we threw it out and bought a new one. This one keeps saying “add water” even though we have the side tank connected and there is water in it, so we have to turn it off and turn it back on to get it to make water. It does make GREAT pellet ice though!

This is our second Opal 2.0 Ice Maker - the first one lasted about 3 years before the compressor apparently had a leak and lost all the coolant, thus it could no longer freeze to create the ice. We opted to go with the Opal again because we liked the machine and ice that it produces, but we will definitely make sure to extend our warranty once our Total Tech 2-year warranty is up.

I was really excited when I received this product but I will say the water drains really quick and the maintenance was a lot... and I mean A LOT because we did it every 3 days. That is with using distilled water. But for what it's worth the ice texture is 10/10. You could literally bite into the ice without hurting your teeth.

This is my 4th one in over 10 the first one last about 4 years the second one about 3. Third one about 2 and half. Just bought this 4th one and having problems with the cleaning cycle. I have sanitized it multiple time and the light will not go off. Call GE. They had no real answer. Told me to take it back to the Store. So I did. I really like the unit. Otherwise makes great Ice quickly. GE Customer service is not very helpful. The lady was just reading the Manual and giving suggestion. Talked with one of their " Engineers" He told her that I must not be following the steps right. I am a physician and I know how to follow instruction. Must be a defective unit only had it for one week( superbowl) before problems. I have never had this type of problem with the GE Profile Opal unit. make sure you get the warranty

Makes ice well in that Sonic shape most people like, but the ice melts rather quickly in the storage bin of the machine. The machine also prompts for weekly sanitization which is a bit annoying even if it is easy to do. The nice thing is that the ice melts back into the reservoir and that water is used to make more ice.

This is my second GE icemaker. Both are still in use the side tank is very useful as we use it as a countertop easy to clean and maintain and it makes the perfect ice. Got this one to get ready for the holidays and always have plenty of ice on hand.

By far, the most awesome small appliance I have ever bought myself. I don't know how I got by without it. I did a bunch of research before I decided to go with the opal 2.0 Ultra v this ice maker is top of the line, do not bother to buy a knockoff. I know there are a lot of bed reviews concerning build up, hard water, known defects. While inconvenient, if you buy the geek squad protection, you will never have to buy an ice maker again. The first one I bought started having issues after 10 months. Though it was still under manufacturer warranty, he was giving me a hard time about servicing the unit I went to best buy, and because I bought the 2vyear protection plan, they bypassed the manufacturer, said it's not a serviceable item, and gave me a gift card with what I paid for it back. I bought another, as well as the warranty and it will be here tomorrow. Hands down, best buy has the best warranty on the market.

This is my third Opal machine. The ice is fantastic but the maintenance and cleaning is a troublesome and lengthy process.

I have had it about a week now. I love it’s sleek design and features. I like that it comes with a magnetic ice scoop holder. It makes ice really well, however it doesn’t hold very well for the money.

Fantastic Ice, but machine does need maintenance regularly. It wants a sanitize cycle every 25 hours of runtime and descale cycle every 100 hours. I would recommend following the recommended pattern unless using extremely soft water. Also use the scale inhibiting filters and change when recommended.

We love our ice machine. This is the second one we have owned. The first one lasted 4 yrs with routine cleaning and we only used distilled water. Buy the extended warranty! The insurance company paid for my new ice machine because they couldn't fix my old one.

Overall great product. Makes ice in about 10 min. The only downside is it doesn’t keep the ice. It melts fast.

So easy to clean and drinking so much more water because of the ease and enjoyment of nugget ice! Happy I did not get the side tank, I didn’t want something else to clean and for a family of 3, I add water about every other day. Highly recommend!

I love this Opal Ice Maker. I have had many ice makers in tge past that just didnt last long. But this one has made me so happy. Ive had it almost a year with no problems. I woukd purchase again.
