Keep in mind there will be some noise associated with the Opal. These normal noises typically stop after 10 to 45 minutes within the ice making cycle. Hard surfaces like the floor, walls and countertops can amplify these sounds. We have a list on our site of normal sounds and also what is not considered normal. Please view our GE Appliances site. Posted .When using the Opal Ice Maker for the first time, the initial batches of ice nuggets will be slushy. After about 30 minutes, your Opal should be making solid nuggets. If this isn't the case, we recommend you follow the tips in the support article on the GE Appliances website titled: "Opal Ice Maker - Ice is Slush." Then it started to decide to stop and work on and off for about 2 months before it finally just stopped working. We regularly cleaned the machine and made sure clean water was in it and not old water. Every once in a blue moon it’d work for an hour before needing a refill and upon refilling the tank, it’d stop working.

When it works it works great, but it is very finicky and you have to constantly baby it to work and a lot of the time it flat refuses. There are a million YouTube videos and other fixes online... for $200-300 might be okay, but for the price, it should work well. It doesn't. Just search online.

By cleaning your Opal ice maker frequently (once a week) will keep the nugget ice tasting fresh and the machine looking great. Descaling should be performed every 2-3 weeks, depending on the hardness of water used. Please review the article titled “Opal Ice Maker - Cleaning and Descaling (Models with no Round Button on the Front)” on the GE Appliances website.

Posted .We want to help you with your Opal sounds and ice production. We recommend making sure your unit is producing normal sounds by checking the information in the article titled "Opal Ice Maker - Normal Sounds" on the GE Appliances website.
Regarding your Opal not producing ice, we recommend checking that the ice bin is pushed all the way in place. and try to reset the Ice Maker by unplugging the unit for 3 to 4 hours. For more tips you can visit the article titled "Opal Ice Maker - Not Making Ice" on the GE Appliances website as well.
If the issue persists after troubleshooting, we recommend calling our Opal team at 866-907-6718.

Worst Ice maker

I pay 470 Dollars for the item to die on me less than two weeks of uses. Great quality control GE. I keep giving you chances and you keep proving me wrong.
