    Helpful Tip

There are two plastic gears in tracks on both sides of the freezer door. The one on the right is almost off the track. The left gear is OK. To move the right gear into the track, take out the drawers and plastic clip by the right gear. Put a few washers on the shaft and reinstall the clip. This will push the gear over into the track. This appears to be a slight design flaw in this model. I have seen it in two different units. Good luck!!

Overall, it has been great. Good visibility within it to reduce spoilage. Well lit. We'd like bigger vegetable crispers and wish that the water dispenser would work even if the opposite door is open. We had to fit it into a smaller space than newer kitchen, but feel it maximizes storage.

    1. Makes loud noises, buzzing noises constantly and intermittedly when the door is closed. Have to loosen the doors to stop sounds (temporarily). 2. Ice maker failed to produce any ice at all. 3. Replacing the filter is unbelievably complicated. Why are there two filters "RPWFE" and "XWFE"? I should be able to enter my model number and get the right filter. This adds so much unnecessary confusion. 4. Appears to be a warm spot in the top-left corner. Orange juice placed in the top-left of the fridge goes bad faster than other fridge areas. Completely unacceptable in 2024. This fridge is worse in every way than our old Samsung fridge.

We appreciate you sharing your concerns regarding your refrigerator and apologize for your frustration. A buzzing sound heard every 15 minutes or so could be the water valve trying to bring in water to make ice and there is no water available. Check to be sure the water supply for the refrigerator is connected properly and turned on. A buzzing sound heard every 60-90 minutes is the water valve energizing to bring water in to make ice. This is normal. When the refrigerator is initially installed, it may take several hours before the icemaker produces the first batch of ice. The temperature in and around the icemaker must get down to 13°F-15°F before ice is produced. You can identify the correct water filter for your refrigerator by reviewing the online parts breakdown we make available for your model. Searching with your complete model number will help you to locate the information you need. The filter for this model is an RPWFE. If you continue to have concerns, please call Bodewell Service at 833-4BODEWELL (833-426-3393) to schedule a service appointment to have your refrigerator evaluated and repaired as needed. Noisy compressor, poor ice reservoir design

My trusty PFSS5NFYCSS died the day before Christmas 2018. I had a refrigerator full of food, and Best Buy was the only store that was willing to deliver a replacement refrigerator within a week. Everybody else said, mid January :( It seemed that 25 cu ft refrigerators were no longer in vogue, and so it was a choice between this slightly smaller 22 cu ft or a huge 27 cu ft. I chose the smaller one because I wanted to make sure that refrigerator fit through the door. I'm glad I chose this 22 cu ft model because it was a pain trying to get the 25 cu ft old one out. I image the 27 cu ft would have been a nightmare to get into the house. Since I purchased this over the internet in a critical emergency situation, and I relied on the past performance of a GE Profile refrigerator, I was surprised that once it was plugged in, it was a lot louder than my old refrigerator. It's loud enough to notice. But I'm sure once I'm used to it, it won't be so noticeable. The left door is very heavy because that's where GE placed the ice maker/reservoir. Because the door gets opened and closed, the ice reservoir goes through freeze/thaw cycles. Hence when you want to use the door dispenser for ice, the screw that turns and dispenses the ice will only dislodge the ice it can reach. The rest of the ice is stuck above the screw. So, whenever I need to use the ice dispenser, I open the door of the refrigerator, open the ice reservoir. give the ice reservoir a good shake to dislodge the frozen ice, place the reservoir back in the door, and then dispense the ice. Boy, this is a disappointing design flaw!

I’ve had this for over a year and am very happy with it. I’ve never written a review for an appliance, so that says something about this. I almost went with an LG or Samsung, but the appliance saleswoman said there is a reason her store doesn’t sell them — because their repair department hates them. When they break, it’s near impossible to get parts. I might be willing to go a few weeks without a working dishwasher, but not a fridge. Anyhoo, I love this fridge. The top french doors makes it easy to find things, and the bottom freezer holds a lot. And since we dip into the freezer much less often, it makes the top that much easier to use. The fridge comes with an ice maker in the top left door, which is dispensed on the front of the door. They have this great “auto-water” feature. Stick a glass or pitcher on the (extendable) ledge and press AUTO and it will fill the vessel up near to the top. Very handy if you are filling a 64 ounce pitcher. You don’t have to sit there and hold it pressed in for a minute. It stops a little before the top, and you can manually top it off. This fridge also has a spot in the bottom freezer for a second ice maker! I bought mine from the company that starts with the big-A. When the delivery guys arrived, I slipped them $50 for them to install it. They did it in under 5 minutes, so it was well worth it. During the summer I always have plenty of ice. I purchased mine from the company that starts with the big-C. Like most appliances they carry, they have a special model number which is different than the big box stores. It is off by one letter, so you can compare them easily. In fact, when it was delivered, the model number was identical to the ones sold by the box store. I tell you this because in my experience, no matter what, buying from C will always cost $50-$100 less than any appliance or box store when you factor in delivery, haul away, installation fees, etc. Add up the final cost for every fee, and no one can match them. In fact, I wanted to buy from the saleswoman I mentioned above because she gave good service and advice. C was $100 less and she couldn’t match it. I asked her if she could come down $50 and meet me in the middle because I thought she deserved the commission so I was willing to pay more just so she could get it. I could justify paying $50 more, but not $100. I should have bought her a gift card.
