even for a 3rd person shooter it's pretty good

So So game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game itself is only decent, the only way to play it is online but what I can't stand is the host advantage and horrible lag. Why the hell should there be any advantage? And seriously people, get a better connection before playing online!

Decent futuristic war game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So overall, this game isn't too bad. The story leaves much to be desired, but that's not what I play this game for. This is simply a balls to the wall gorefest. There is a good range of weapons in the game from pistols and machine guns to grenade launchers and flamethrowers. Your most used gun will likely be the Lancer, a semi-automatic rifle with a chainsaw in place of a bayonet. It's the most versatile gun in the game, with the chainsaw perfect for taking out enemies up close. The story didn't draw me in too much. There's some heartbreak and "twist" moments, but nothing that I didn't expect might happen. Some of the enemies you face are simply annoying (i.e. wretches), especially when the game throws about 20 at you and they're all easily killed. The final boss is incredibly easy, as long as you can hold your trigger finger down you've won half the battle (the other half being to wait a couple minutes). And don't get me wrong, some of the Locust are a pain to take down, but as long as you've got a wall to stay behind, you won't be in any immediate danger. The redeeming quality of this game is being able to play in Co-op mode and take on the hordes of enemies with a friend. Another would be... well... Horde mode!, where you fight against increasingly difficult and numerous waves of Locust. In the end I'd just say rent it, or play it with a friend who owns it (like me).

Top Game
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.yes, no questions asked, the first gears of war was I believed to be the best graphical game ever produced on the xbox 360. Not only the graphics, but the game play was also top of the line. I wasn't sure at first to purchase the game, until I tried it out and loved it. The controls were hard to get used to at first, but once you get it down your golden. I would definitely recommend the first game, and purchasing the second I feel that it will be as good, or even better than the first!

Better than the first!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is so much better than the first one that came out two years ago. The storyline is better in every way possible. It has emotion, action, violence, chainsaws, and funny dialogue from the Cole Train. I'd have to say the Horde mode is my favorite feature in the game. It's loads of fun with you and your friends are taking out numerous amounts of Locust. I definitely think this game is worth spending $60-$70 and I highly recommend getting the Limited Edition!

Great addition to GoW
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The story line in campaign mode is nice and long and adds to the already great story line form GoW. The Co-op campaign allows for players with varying experience play together on different difficuties and it also has easy drop in play so that you can continue your current campaign session. The online play has been expanded from the first game, adding Horde mode (fighting prgressively stronger groups of enemies). All in all, this game is a definately a must buy.

Beautifully Crafted.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is the best of the best, amazing graphics, well written story, and tons of fun whether playing online of offline. This is a game defiantly not meant for 16 and under, but a great game for older fans of video games.

Same formula, better graphics, short campaign mode
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bottom line, the game is very fun. I do admit that this was more of a segue to a part 3 because it was SO short (the campaign mode) and the game's ending just leaves you with more questions rather than answers. The developers of Gears 2 did the same thing that the developers of Halo 3 did, they focused more on the online multi-player aspect of the game. There's a drawback to that because not everyone is a fan of online competition. So you're left with the solo campaign mode and it has been said before with the other reviews I've read, you can beat this game at Normal difficulty in less than a day (probably less than 8hrs of actual play time needed). It's so short. At times, it just felt like move 50ft, duck and cover and shoot, move another 50ft, duck and cover and shoot, control a vehicle, a few creatures, hop on a crane or chopper every now and then, complete. It's almost a shame. I thought the game wasn't over after I finished off the last part of the game. I saw credits rolling and was immediately disappointed. The online multi-player aspect of the game is just as good as Halo 3's and Call of Duty 4's. But I was looking for a bit more in the solo campaign mode. There were just too many questions in the storyline left unanswered. Hence, I await Gears of War 3.

Ok, but would recommend Call of Duty World at War
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved this game for the first few days that I played it. But there are WAAAY more cons then pros in GoW2 The campaign is extremly!!!!!!!!!!! Short. I beat it unexpectedly in about a week when I only played about an hour a day. The final level is the easiest part of the game. It is slightly difficult along the way, but a very dissappointing campaign. The online play is horrible. Im not sure whether not enough people have this game or what. But it takes on average about 10 minutes to find a match. I usually begin search, than go watch tv for awhile, then comback. The worst part is: after an online game ends, there isnt a lobby to stay in after for another game, so you have to go through the WHOLE process all over again!!! The only thing I like about it is the mode Horde. Which is fun over and over again, and the best part is: if you play with friends there is NO WAIT!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!!!!. Overall I gave up with GoW2 and am now playing Call of Duty World at War (which I recommend)

Hey
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this game was really fun but it was basiclly the same game as the first one just with some new stuff and the thing where you have to beat it then do it again to get the insane difficulty achivements was stupied and they should have just given you all the difficulties and the online play was really fun but laggy and glitchy

Hope
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I played through the first game solo and with a buddy. The gameplay itself was awesome, especially doing it co-op. I loved the skill based reload. And the graphics were VERY impressive. But I have two complaints, that I hope they fix for the sequel. The first one being, the story. They hardly explained anything in the game. I had no idea what was going on, aside from the some bug/aliens came out of the ground and needed to die. I didn't know that the game wasn't set on Earth, untill after I beat it and looked on the internet. I'd just like to see the story fleshed out some more. My second complaint, is multiplayer. I'll probably get flamed for this, but hear me out. The cover system is awesome, my complaint isn't with the game itself. On paper or in theory the cover system is a sound idea. But when you incorporate the internet and people with it, you get people camping. I stopped playing the game because every game i joined the other players would just camp. The first game was great, but not perfect. However, I do look forward to the sequel and what it will bring to the table.

i loved it, but it left more holes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i was a fan of the first game so i may not give a completely fair opinion. GRAPHICS= 10 SOUND= 8 STORY= 7 (it introduced lame looking creatures that in my opinion tarnished the quality of the story, and the ending was VERY WEAK) CONTROLS= 8 (nothing changed, unfortunatly if you play online you still end up using the "A" button too much because you use it to roll, run and get into cover.)

Gears 2: worth it?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes, no question. As seen in the new Unreal flash 3.0 the graphics have been perfected into something amazing. I am not sure if $80 for the limited edition is really worth the extra disc. Yet, the game is a gotta have third person shooter. The only reason my frineds and i got an xbox 360 was because of gears one. And it blew us away. I am sure that you will be pleased with this product.
