Fun, not quite as epic

A Franchise Ruined
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While it looks pretty and the mechanics are solid, there's nothing else worth liking about this game. The solo campaign is short, and poorly plotted, with characters acting out of character and nonsensical plot devices throughout. It's a cartoon version GOW that plays out much like fan fiction. Also: the new difficulty settings make certain segments 100% luck based, wasting hours of your life when you lose the draw. Multiplayer is horrible. The community is toxic. The gameplay is laggy. Shots don't register. Damage dealt often does't match the visuals you see, and cheaters abound. Just check YouTube for compilations of the BS this game delivers daily. The developer ignores community complaints, and instead focuses on selling overpriced virtual goods and promoting eSports. Every update makes the gameplay worse. Lastly, the game uses random generation to fulfill micro-transaction purchases, meaning you pay not for skins and characters you want, but for a CHANCE to get them as part of a pack, a pack which just as easily may contain items you already own. Additionally, the "scrap" value of items you don't want is 1/8th of the purchased value. For example, a legendary character could be "won" as part of a $.99 pack, but to craft it -- the only for certain way to obtain items -- could potentially cost you as much as $96. The campaign is so short that if you're not an achievement completionist, then it may be worth renting just to sate curiosity about the story, but if you're not already invested in the franchise, sit this one out. Your family, your wallet and your blood pressure will thank you.

Microtransactions kill it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The core game is good (although the campaign is a bit short). The excessive microtransactions in the multiplayer absolutely kill it though.

Short campaign mode
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Short campaign mode!!!Microsoft I put too much effort on this game comparing it to old gear of wear games I am not really impressed.very disappointed on how short the game was to me I Felt like it was a demo and thought that Microsoft is just playing with me. I am a very big fan of the gear war series but this one didn't impress me at all.
