I can't believe that now a days a Ultimate edition game would still hit you for micro transactions... great game but still... if you own a Ultimate edition the game should have it all. Just saying.

Though I haven't played Horde yet the game is very formulaic and does not really add anything too the gears of war experience. The single player story never really brings you in.

that's going to raise some eyebrows lol just my opinion... I've never been a big gears fan... and hadn't played since the first... the original crew was at least good. i didn't play long enough to find out if the originals come back... honestly i didn't really pay attention to anything... as a lover of video games... i just don't think this game has IT highly overrated... but still playable. but nothing you're going to remember 10 years from now. luckily xbox one has dead rising 4 coming soon..

I think the movement in this game is not what I like. I played for a while but I dont like this type of shooter.

This has to be one of the worst exclusive titles I have ever played. It is literally the same boring thing over and over. Every enemy takes like 3 reloads to kill. There is nothing keeping me playing this game after about 30 minutes of playing. My brother and I even played online COOP and I was falling asleep. Don't believe the hype on this game, it's a snoozefest.

Not the best gears they tried to get it back to that original feeling but fell short.

I've played all the GOW games and really enjoy this series. This game adds great value in gameplay and story to the entire GOW series. I think the gameplay is very smooth. I haven't experienced any lag at all. Amazing visuals (I am using a 1080p 3D Plasma) and I have no doubt it's even better with a 4K with HDR set. I think the way the Coalition did the intro was fantastic. Not only do you get a refresher of the backstory but you get to actually play parts of it! The GOW4 story is great. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I have currently only played single player campaign--which is just scratching the surface of this wonderful game! Great job team. I look forward to future GOW games!

I know there will be huge Gears fans who love this game, but to me it feels like it hasn't really progressed since gears 1 back in the 360 days. With all the great shooters out there, this one's mechanics feel old. Great for all the Gear-heads out there, but otherwise there are much better shooters to spend your money on.

I can play the campaign no problem but matchmaking never finds me a game and the single time it has it was over half bots.

Same old gears of war. Rehashed maps, multiplayer is the same, really no innovation since the originals.

$100 for early access to old maps is not value for money. Yes we had this game 4 days early but this game is a mess right now. Developers not being open and communicating with its fan base and content locked behind its over priced loot system. What's the point of a cover based shooter where the Gnasher rules over all. Not the Gears we love. Avoid.

Firstly, Gears of War 4 is top-to-bottom the best in the series in terms of replayability and smooth gameplay. It's a very clean, gorgeous title with plenty of content to unlock and tons of things to do. Horde is addicting. PvP is fun as always. Matchmaking is pretty consistent. The campaign is surprisingly enjoyable, walking the line between serious and campy in a very endearing way. I highly recommend this game to anyone who's ever been interested in Gears before. That said, the Ultimate Edition isn't for everyone. Included in this bundle is a season pass that promises 24 maps and other content over the course of the next year. That's great for anyone who knows he'll be playing it regularly for that long (like me), but be smart about your purchase. The only other things unlocked by buying this version are some skins you'll never use, packs of random in-game items that you'll use up rather quickly, a cool looking metal case, and access to all new multiplayer maps two weeks early in a playlist that's rather limited in modes and sparse in players. Unless you're a diehard, it might be smarter to purchase the regular version first (which still comes with all four previous Gears titles for free) and see if the season pass is something you want after playing for awhile. Still, can't recommend this game enough.

I'm a big gears fan and yes I participated in the gears 4 beta from the April 18 til May 1st. There was a bit of lag on some of the matches; but it is expected since this is a test on the Microsoft servers. I love the fast 60fps gameplay team death match. I can't wait to get my hands on this game. A true gears continuation from gears 3, 25 years after the event unfolded. Can't wait!!!

I've played gears 1-3 and judgement and needless to say this game ranks up there with the best! Graphically it's one of the best if not the best Xbox One game on the console. Story is excellent with great acting and story. Nothing monumental in gameplay with some cool new improvements. Recommend it to any gears fan or somebody looking to start a new story!
