great installation

It was not an easy install because my soundbar kept creating problems. After he left we had some issues and he was kind enough to return the next morning without us scheduling an appointment..he is a credit to best buy

Bad Bad Bad On Site Customer Service
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.That the second time poor, very poor customer service got delivered to me; First time I bought a warranty on a computer; keyboard was broken I went to buy a new one; the Rep who assisted me that day I bought the computer recognized me, after letting him know I came to buy a new Keyboard; He informed me that the warranty also covers the keyboard, he added I just have to go to CSDesk and they will give me a new one; Big surprise, once at the CSDesk; the guy told me to bring my All-in-one Desktop for him to check the serial code of the computer and give me the Keyboard+mouse that match; wow seriously?? whats the link between the Keyboard+mouse+serial number of the computer? i did prefer buying new one and left the store Second time today, I bought 1 year ago a 256 GB flashdrive for our construction software and documents backup; we never used it, all brandnew; yesterday we got to use it ,we unpacked it for the first time, starting pasting docs on it when it posted an error message; insufficient space; we have checked, we realized it is written 256 GB on the flash drive and the packaging as well but the real capacity was 30 GB; called Geek Squad Customer Service; the rep remotely accessed the computer and realized it; asked me when i bought it i let her know 1 year ago but yesterday was the first time we used it; she let me know to stop by at the store and get a new one that has the correct 256GB on the packaging and on the capacity; well i knew it wouldnt happen as easy as she said; I stopped by today and the rep started making it difficult; to keep it short , i let him know i was told on the phone to stop by and get a new one,so please just do what is fair,please. He went talking to his manager 3 times [to make the story short] to definitely conclude that I have to call SANDISK, yes they told me to call SANDISK although they know I bought it with BESTBUY; and gave it back to me I said well, you guys can keep the flashdrive, I left it with them and walk away.

Excellent service from knowledgeable technicians

Extremely disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My washing machine quit spinning and i scheduled service with geek squad. The day that geek squad was schedule we also had roofers replacing the entire roof (plywood and shingles). The room that the washer was located in just so happen to be in the process of having wood reinstalled so it did not at that moment have a roof but did have roof reinstalled within a few hours. Because i was unlucky enough that the roofer where working that section when the tech showed up geek squads "field marstall" desided to void my warranty because of the "condition" of the room that housed it. The roof was literally off for a few hours and my washer has never been outside in the weather, thats like saying moving your washer from a truck to your house voids the warranty because there was no roof over it. Geek squad ultimately told me im on my own and there was nothing they could do. How the roof being replaced has anything to do with why my washer stopped spinning is beyond me. Very disappointed that geek squad is the type of company that looks for any reason to get out of warranty issues, i thought you guys acually cared about your customers. What a joke ill take my money else where from now on!!

Frutrated
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will never recommend Geek Squad to anyone, I will actually beg them NOT to use them for ANYTHING! After putting in close to $500 all together of my own money into monthly charges for geek squad over the last 2 and a half years (I’m on a 3-year plan) I finally needed a phone replacement, as my battery was shot. After over an hour in phone calls, talking to employees that are incredibly rude, I was told that the plan I had been paying for this whole time, wasn’t something they do. After being so confused, I checked their website myself, and it has a list of plans that they no longer offer as of June 2017. I called back and explained that, and what I got in return was “what do you want me to say? We don’t do that.” I was shocked and upset, but since I have put SO much money into this plan already, I figured that I would still try to get a new phone, even if that meant they needed to hold a large deposit. So, I sucked it up, gave them the benefit of the doubt, and let them take a Deposit of over $600.00 for a phone that I had originally got for free, 2 and a half years earlier. A few days later my “new” (refurbished) phone arrived. Since then, I have had more issues with this “New” phone than any phone I’ve ever owned. The screen cracked on day 2, after simply being set on my desk (not dropped ever- and its in a life proof case), the battery is much worse than my first phone, the camera glitches several times a day, and I’ve even had issues with the pixels in the screen. When I contacted them again about this, I am told that they need to take yet another $600+ deposit to fix THEIR problem of giving me a garbage phone. Expensive in not only money, but my time. Staff is unbearably rude with zero compassion. I will never use Geek Squad again, and I hope that anyone reading this will also take my advice, there are WAY better plans out there that won’t cause you half the stress, time, money, or frustration.

THIS IS CRAP
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sure the agents who come to the house are nice and knowledgeable but when they just replace the same part over and over and refuse to replace the lemon of a TV that's a bit ridiculous. I'm currently on my 3rd board in this TV and when I called and complained they told me they replace the TV after 3 of the same issues usually but since 2 of them were on the manufacturers warranty then they don't count towards the 3. WHAT KIND OF STUPID LOGIC IS THAT??? Throw on top of that the fact that the last time I tried to schedule this same repair (hello board number 4) the agent scheduled it, sent me a receipt for $150 (which i have never seen before and will not pay as it is under warranty) and come to find out the appointment is for an install not a repair! When i tried to fix it the first agent immediately disconnected me. TLDR: Geeks are friendly, Corporate lever SUCKS. Buy some where else.

Geek Squad has gone bad

Today, when I went to my scheduled appointment at the store it turns out BestBuy never switched my protection over from our Samsung S8 phones to our Samsung S9 phones, that we traded in at BestBuy. Since they were still charging me for it and the protection is still technically active. Neither me nor the technician noticed until he tried to put the repair through. Just an oversight, it's understandable. Since, I have been paying them all this time it wouldn't be a problem right. Just switch it over and no problem. Well, CSR 356589 Cesar, said that would be impossible and I will have to pay for the phone repair out of pocket. All they can do is reimburse me for the money i have paid for my insurance now that it is time to actually use it. This is like having your car stolen and the insurance company reimbursing for the insurance premiums because they don't want to replace your car

Horrible service!!!

It's been almost four (yes, 4) weeks since I made a call about it but working. I haven't been able to cook for my children for almost a month. That's ridiculous!!! This service is awful! I called again today and was told just to wait 1-2 business days for a call back. THAT'S WHAT THEY TOLD ME LAST WEEK TOO. I bought this range and plan on good faith and now just get the run around from Geek squad. Terrible, terrible service! I'll make another purchase if this is the way you treat customers!

Geek Squad lost my data
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My hard drive was having issues, so I took my laptop in to have the Geek Squad fix it. I told them to save the data, and if it needs a new hard drive, go ahead and replace it. They did replace the hard drive, but for some reason, they also erased all the data on the old drive completely, so it is almost impossible to retrieve. When I asked how the data could be just gone, the geek squad member said that he doesn't know, just that they couldn't read the drive. I said, how can that be? He just repeated that he couldn't do it, just in a more condescending tone, as if I was an idiot for not understanding him the first time. I asked if it could be salvaged, and they said it would cost another $450 to send it off! I immediately took my PC and old hard drive to Staples, where they tried to recover the data. They were very helpful, but shocked to find that, not only was there no data on the drive, there was no operating system. The tech said that Best Buy had to have done something to the drive to remove everything from it completely. I feel like Best Buy took advantage of me, and tried to get as much money from me as they could. I've had my hard drive fail from multiple computers through the decades, and every time, the data could be recovered. My experience at Best Buy was the first time I felt stupefying incompetence and rudeness were qualifications for their Geek Squad ranks.

Geek Squad on line support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have just spent from 4:43 pm to 6:42 pm on line with the Geek Squad. I pay for the annual subscription. All I wanted was for them to back up my computer. Should be simple, right? No, the first guy said I had a 45 minute wait...and then he supposedly transferred me over (to wait the 45 minutes) to the technician that could actually do the work. But after a long time...no one came on to the live chat. I called back; they said my wait was now 2 hours...but, they thought my computer was still connected to them (although I could not type anything in the instruction box).. Dealing with Geek Squad is very stressfull. I suggest you find another company; and although I have paid them for the year...I may have to do the same, if I want reliable work done on my computer.

Very poor service

Told me that it would be done that day and would call when it was completed. They never called for 3 days. Then when I was notified I was directed to make an appointment online or call. Could notmake the appointment online due to issues with there website, I tried to call 3 different times. I got no answer and no message. I drove over to the store and they would not give me the device without an appointment.

Doesn't update consumer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I dropped off my $2,000 laptop to be repaired after only having it for 5 weeks, mainly due to the wifi adapter disappearing after a windows 10 update (go figure). About 4 days after the drop off, I check out the status online and it says to contact them at an 866 or 800 number to proceed. So I called the number and the geek squad who answered the phone, long story short, had no idea what to do. I told him that it says to call them, and he kept saying to call my store about something of an approval. So I called my store in Santa Maria, CA about it, and long story short again, they said "it says to call the 800 or 866 number. Which I gave them my story of calling them, overall no one knew what to do. So I let it be since no one had an answer for me. Finally, its been 8 days since last update, I decided to call my store again, and finally got someone who knew something. She told me it was approved for an exchange 8 days ago. So b/c geek squad personnel failed to know anything about my repair, I've missed out on the last 8 days of getting anything accomplished b/c of the lack of knowledge/customer service by these particulars I talked too. Although Im getting an exchange, which is nice, the customer service lacks intellect.

Waste of time and money to get less than we had
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We engaged the services of Geek Squad to set up our TV, cable box, and components for ease of use. After multiple visits in which they indicated each time that we needed to purchase just one more thing: new HDMI cables; new Harmony remote (we already had one); new blaster (already had two); and a Rocketfish switch--and the end result was that they were finally able to set up our Harmony remote to do exactly what our Fios remote did, and to do so they disconnected our Blueray so the only components we can use are our cable box and the television. Using Geek Squad was an incredible waste of time and money. We ended up with less than had when we started!

They scratched my laptop

The manager acted as if I was trying to blame them for damage that was done prior to leaving it with them. When the employee came out from the back that had taken it in before the repair he said that there was absolutely no scratches on it when I dropped it off and he wasnt sure what happened. They said they had to send it out for a new cover but would expedite it. I have been waiting an entire month and they keep telling me the part is on order. I asked for a manager and was told that a manager would call back within 48 hours. After 3 days I call back and they put a manager on who said he would def call me back no later than Monday. It is now 11pm on Tues and no tel call. I will be calling again tomorrow!!! I need my laptop and no one cares!!!

Another fantastic way to check the status of your order is by logging into your Best Buy account, clicking the services tab right below the tool bar, and in the drop down menu click, "Check Repair Status" on the left hand side. From there you just need to enter your Geek Squad service order number! Hope this helps!

Worst Experience

It was amazing at first until I went to go off to school. I went to replace a faulty charger, with no problems at all and a NEW helpful staff member. They advised me my plan didn’t expire until 2019 so when I brought my laptop in I was shocked to find out it already expired somehow. I then got my laptop fixed by geek squad and they completely ruined my computer. When I got it back the screen didn’t work AT ALL and they refused to fix it unless i paid $900. They denied any wrong doing even though the computer worked fine until I brought it to them. NEVER BRING A COMPUTER INTO BEST BUYS GEEK SQUAD

Terrible
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a warranty for my appliance. The appliance broke so I called up Geek Squad to come fix. The first time they came in they couldn’t fix it because the unit had bugs. Therefore, I hired a exterminator to spray down the unit. They still didn’t want to fix it after a hired someone to spray down the unit. I don’t know what they want me to do. I am on hold with Best Buy for 30 minutes just for them to end the call on me after such a long wait. I have warranty on the product and they don’t want to fix it. What is the point of warranty then. Their service is horrible. I missed work to go home and wait for them to perform the service TWICE! And they still didn’t do it. Wasted my time.

Barely more than a year
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a 55 inch Toshiba television (55lf621u19) from Best Buy in Sept. 2017; the TV's manufacture date was May 2017. Well, about a week ago I was watching TV when the picture died - still had sound, just no picture. I contacted Toshiba customer service and they said that due to the age of the TV it was still under warranty. They scheduled an appointment for a repair person to come out and take a look and the TV would be repaired or replaced. Appointment day arrives and I get a call from the repair person to confirm information over the phone. They call again about an hour before they are set to arrive, and indicate based on the information provided that there is nothing they can do. The TV isn't under warranty. So, lesson is: if you get barely more than a year out of your brand new TV - I guess you're supposed to consider yourself lucky. Neither Toshiba nor Best Buy are willing to address this situation satisfactorily.

Geek Squad

Made appointment several weeks before. Drove 3 hours one way, was there early, didnt want to miss appointment. I was told they dont have my part.....WHAT??,,,,they had my email, phone #, address, They knew i was 3 hours away....But they couldnt check ahead of time to make sure everything was ok? I will NEVER shop with Best Buy again.. I will tell all my friends and family same... I was going to buy 65 inch TV while I was at store...I wish reviews could show no stars....

iPhone battery replacement-super poor service

A technician did not explain the high risk of breaking the battery tab. He told me it should only take a few minutes to replace the battery. He broke the tab while attempting to take the old battery out. He asked me to go to the Apple store and claimed that they have the right tool to take the old battery tab out and should be able to replace the battery. He told me if I want to replace the unit at Bestbuy, I have to pay the full unit price since it is out of warranty. I went to the Apple store to replace the battery today. I was told the tab of the battery is missing (they showed me the picture of the internal view of the phone). They can't replace the battery because the third party broke the tab. They also told me the battery is loose due to lack of the tab and suggest me to replace the phone unit. I wasted another two hours at the Apple store. I spoke to a Geek Squad manager. He apologized for the situation but insisted I have to pay the full price of the unit since my phone is out of warranty. First of all, I was only told today that there is a high tendency to break the battery tab during the iPhone battery replacement. The risk was not explained to me before the service. Secondly, I was told to go to the Apple Store after the incidence but I totally wasted another two hours again. Finally, the situation of the customer has to pay for the replacement unit if the tab is broken by the Bestbuy technician and the unit is out of the warranty was not explained to me before the incident. If I am aware of all the information, I will choose not the replace the battery at the first place.
