This box set has the first 5 albums recorded by Genesis. Most people know of the singing and writing of Peter Gabriel, but many don't realize the stellar musicianship on these albums. Tony Banks is not only a great writer, but he is one of the premier keyboardists in rock music who frequently dazzles with his dexterity and chord structure. Also, most people didn't know that Phil Collins is a master of the drum set. Listening to these recordings you will see what musicianship does to an already accomplished group!

The third box set completes the rematering of all of the studio albums from Genesis. This last set takes hardcore Genesis fans back to the early days with Peter Gabriel leading the group in their 70s art-rock heyday. Highlights of the set are the much clearer sound on tracks such as "The Musical Box" and "Supper's Ready". The opus, "The Lamb Lied Down on Broadway" has new life with the enhanced sound quality. The re-issue interviews will remind you why Peter Gabriel was a great artist, but also why the group reached their highest commerical peaks after he and his ego departed the group along with the still-grumpy Steve Hackett. For fans of alll phases of the Genesis catalog, this is a must-buy.
