Over 50 games on one disc sounds great on paper until you realize that these are 16-bit games which were never meant to be played for a long time AKA no replay value. I would definitely wait for this to go on sale. Not worth the full price.

When compared to my NEC TurboGrafx-16 with optional CD-Rom games and the Express with TV-Tuner. I'd rather pay and play those games than the Sega, which are subpar.

It’s not what I expected. I thought there would be more games. Like all of the sega genesis classics not just a few games that I don’t like. I read the available games on but didn’t use my head while buying it. When I started playing it I realized it didn’t have the games I wanted. So that’s on me.

I grew up as a SEGA Fanboy. I had everything from Game Gear all the way through Dreamcast. I thought for sure SEGA would win the console wars. Sadly, I was wrong. SEGA then decided to release some of their old titles in multiple collections throughout the years. This all started with the classics on Genesis. It seems that since then almost every SEGA system has had a SEGA Collection. Even PC got a few. When I found out that the PS4 was getting a SEGA Collection, it was a hard decision for me. I already purchased the PS3 collection and got most of the trophies. Did I really want to sink money into a PS4 collection? Here's how SEGA gets you. They release these collections with different combinations of games. You are always missing a game or two that are epic, but not represented in the latest collection. What's more is that this is essentially a PS4 port of Steam's SEGA Collection with a few games in and a few games out. So on to the product. You start in a game room. All the Genesis games are on a shelf in alphabetical order. You choose the game and watch an animation of it slid into the Genesis. It's charming at first, but after playing the @tGames Sega Systems, I miss just clicking on an option and launching the game. In addition to the library of games, there are challenges for most games. For Virtua Fighter, you have to win a match while starting with only 30% health and 1 round lost. Unless you've played the game religiously, there's very little chance of completing this challenge. There are also trophies for a chunk of the games. Some are as simple as collecting a number of potions in Golden Ax to reaching a certain chapter in Shining Force. What bothers me about the trophies is that some seem too daunting to be worth the effort. DO I really want to play through Shining Force until I reach that chapter? What if it's not my style of game? New to SEGA Collections is the Fast Forward and Rewind options. You can use the shoulder buttons to rewind a game to a previous point to undo a mistake. You can also increase the game speed to skip through cutscenes, text, or other portions of the game you would like to shorten. The game library is the "largest yet". While true, the question is whether you'll find something you like. The core games are split as follows: RPG's, Strategy, Beat'em Ups, and Platformers. If you like more than 1 of those genres, you'll find something worth your time. There are also several Genesis ports of arcade titles. Altered Beast is represented as a Genesis game in this collection (while you could unlock the arcade version in the PS3 edition). Then there are games (like Flicky) that are fun for a moment, but obviously products of their time. Overall, I enjoy this collection. The ability to play online makes it great for those rainy days (or if you just want to relive your childhood online with a friend). With over 50 games, I would recommend this.

Not the best, but not terrible.

The biggest positive I can give this collection is that you can play many of the titles online with friends if you want to, but this collection to me falls short of the PS3/Xbox 360 collection. For starters Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles are missing this go around. Also most of the Sega Collections previously also gave you arcade versions of some of the games or even Sega Master System like Phantasy Star. The other problem is it is missing the game manuals. I actually liked having that in the previous releases more than say mirror mode and I have finished almost all of the challenges already. Only like two are super ridiculous and the rest fairly easy. The second Golden Axe Challenge gave me a really hard time while the first and third one I completed in one go. Even beating the first box in Streets of Rage with max health is not that difficult. Now if you do not own any of the prvious collections, then this collection will likely be a big bonus. For me though it is a light version of so many of my previous collections at this point.

Streets of Rage and Shinobi for life!

I still don't get tired of streets of rage because of that techno and house soundtrack. The shinobi series is fun to play too. I am finally getting into toe jam and earl after all of these years. What's cool about the sound chip emulation is there are certain soundcard glitches that happen on the cartridge version of streets of rage that happen in this collection.

I mean I had basically this same package for PS3 but it had more games before. For some odd reason they left out all the ecco games and sonic and knuckles is missing. It makes no sense PS4 has a higher capacity so more games should fit. The sprites don't take as much power to animate sooo what gives. Also bottom line The online play is totally garbage. This again makes no sense since when they released the versions before with online called Sega classics online was awesome. Why on a better console does it suck it's so glitchy. The graphics options are nice. I also love that e-swat on of my favorites is in the disk. However the lack of proper online play is unforgivable on a system that can run injustice 2 seemlessly get it together Sega!! Have a blessed day y'all say this blessing with me Jesus is Lord and I have the victory peace
