I tried this board out as I always wanted to try an AMD setup. For the price I feel this board is a great selection for a gaming system. One recommendation to Gigabyte is use some better protection around the board. I did notice I had a couple of items that I had to bend back. Not a huge issue but I could see some boards needing repair out of the box depending on who was handling the box. For my setup I used a Ryzen 8000 processor chip. I am not a computer science major so my review will be more for the average person that is interested in building PCs once in a while. Some of the pros of this motherboard is the fairly easy installation. I feel Gigabye has thought out how the person building these will need access to some areas. I have had other computers that I worked on in the past that were very hard to get wires/connectors on or off. This build was very nice and smooth. The other very nice enhancement was the connectivity. There included multiple USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, C and Gen 1 and 2.0. There also are and HDMI and display port. The wifi is 6e 802.11ax which isn't bad but I would have liked to seen 7 but not a deal breaker for me. I did go into the BIOS and adjust some settings as it was very user-friendly. This machine is running great and I didn't have any major issues except for user as I had something not wired correctly but once I figured that out it was smooth sailing. The sound and game quality is great especially when the machine has 32gb of ram. I would look at getting another setup but maybe an Intel version next.

This is my first AMD build and really liking this mobo. Has great features that'll ensure your board stays somewhat up-to-date in the coming years which is nice. Firstly, it's an AM5 socket so it has some life span left in it. No worries about AMD ditching this board for a new socket in the near future. Paired this board with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D chip and Crucial RAM. Still kind of hung up on which GPU I'm going to use. Ideally, would like to stick with AMD for this build so maybe a 6800? Already have a build with NVIDIA so not really interested in that. That said, great little board that's got nice features for my build. Wifi, updated PCIe slot and fairly simple (so far) plug and play on every component I've installed thus far. I threw this mobo in a Montech case as well as this is a sort of a budget build. Nice fit and will look/run great once I get my GPU issue sorted out. . So far, this AMD build is looking pretty sweet so eagerly waiting on how it'll look once all is finished.

Great AMD AM5 Gaming Motherboard, Good Thermals

TLDR; The Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX is a great gaming motherboard for your AMD AM5 series processor. Good balance of performance and thermal controls. Would be perfect with an extra USB C ports and if you're using a wired connection, you may want faster LAN depending on your network. Full Review I like building and maintain my own gaming PC. I upgraded to AMD Ryzen 5 7600 (AM5) a few months ago but ony went for an A620 motherboard at the time, because I also had to budget for DDR5 memory upgrades. Upgrading from an A620 series the Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX is big for me - compared to my old board, the Gigabyte Eagle AX gives me USB 3.2 ports, in fact a LOT more USB A ports (8 in total!), a USB C port, and better WiFi. Unboxing/In the Box - Gigabyte B650 AX Motherboard - 2x SATA cables - 2x Antennas - m2/NVMe screws Installing the Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX took me about an hour, but I was upgrading my motherboard. If you're on the fence about buying the Gigabyte Eagle vs a cheaper alternative, I will say learn from me and buy this now - upgrading motherboards is not as easier as swapping out your NVMe, RAM, or Video Card. Investing in a good motherboard like the Gigabyte B650 Eagle is money well spent. I didn't run into any upgrade issues. There was a BIOS update that dropped just recently. Gigabyte does offer the ability to update the bios without anything connected (called Q Flash Plus) which is a nice feature, but since I wanted to check all my components work I upgrade the BIOS the old school way. The Gigabyte B650 had no compatibility issues with my other components (Corsair DDR5 Memory, WD NVMe) - which is a blessing as I had mild anxiety I may have had to upgrade something else. On Windows, my old motherboard was Realtek Audio as is this Gigabyte, so audio was still good. Dropping in my AM5 was straight foward and the PCIe slots were easy to adjust - Gigabyte has something called EZ-Latch which makes installing cards easy (next upgrade will be a new graphics card!!) Gigabyte include a M2 Thermal plate for the main NVMe. There's no thermal plates for the additional M2 slots (there's 3 in total). In my tests so far, I'm seeing up to 10pt lower thermals under normal use. It's hard to isolate whethe this due to the Gigabyte thermals or new thermal paste on my CPU - I am guessing it's a combination of both, the board does have a lot more heatsink protection than my old one. In terms of performance, I forgot to do a final benchmark before I upgraded (ugh) so I can't show pre-post results, I am not seeing a FPS lift but realistically you shouldn't see much of a FPS difference on a new motherboard, just overall system snappiness feels better. I also saw comparable WiFi speeds, as my old motherboard was AX as well which is more than fast enough for gaming but I recommend you use a wired connection for gaming if you have the cabling. Overall, there's a lot to love about the Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX. There's plenty of room to upgrade, with plenty of PCIe slots, 4 DDR5 DIMM slots, multiple SATA connectors, good thermals, and more. The only negative I can really think of is I wish it had more rear USB C ports as 1 USB C and 8 USB A ports (even if 2 are USB A 3.2) feels a bit excessive. If you own a cheaper AM5 compatible motherboard and need more futureproof expandability, or you're ready to make the upgrade from an AM4 series Ryzen to an AM5 (and don't forget to upgrade to DDR5 RAM too) then the Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX is a great motherboard. If you are doing a wholesale upgrade from an AM4 to AM5 AMD processor, you would really notice the upgrade (and the Eagle B650 is a great value AM5 gaming motherboard).

Happy with this motherboard. This was my first every PC build and this was easy to install. Decent number of M.2 slots for SSD's. Download the online manual as the manual in the box is very basic. My only complaint was that it was a pain to get the bios updated. It took several attempts to get it to recognize the file. I do like all the options in the bios though.

[PROS] What makes the B650 Eagle AX a suitable motherboard choice for me is that it's still feature rich with a considerate design. The features include, but not limited to: DDR5 (4 slots), 3 NVMe slots (1 PCIe 5.0 port and 2 PCIe 4.0 ports), and WiFi 6. The design includes a EZ-Latch system that makes removing my 4070 a breeze when it comes to accessing my storage drives. The memory slots also feature a handy mechanism for securing the drives. My last highlight was using the Q-Flash for an easy setup. As a first time user, I was able to update my bios without any hiccups. Overall, this was a good experience. [CONS] I would summarize the negative aspects of this motherboard as a collection of nitpicks. For example, the SSD slots are less accessible with larger GPUs unless it's removed first. I've owned other motherboards where they were a bit easier to swap out. Another gripe is the 2nd memory slot is only 2 lanes as highlighted by specifications despite being Gen 4. Also, the back panel only includes 1 USB C port. I had hoped for another port, but I can settle with this design. [MIXED BAG] Thermals: The thermal control isn't a radical improvement over other motherboards that I have tested in the past. As it relates to the CPU, I used a Ryzen 7 7700 for my testing. I did hit 77 degrees Celsius which isn't bad. For the M.2. heatsink, it did better than normal that what I'm used to. I ended up getting into the low-to-mid 50's. Nothing overheated and performance was fine. Also, the ability to monitor temperatures quite competent from my observation. [CONCLUSION] The B650 Eagle AX isn't a showstopper. However, this shouldn't taken as a dig. I got a healthier mixture of needs and wants. From the adoptions of DDR5 to the future proofing design inclusion of PCIe 5.0, this motherboard checks off a number of boxes. It does leave a bit more to be desired in some areas, but it would be useful for most if not all needs.

Building your own computer can be a daunting task but is not limited to gamers. I don’t consider myself a hardcore gamer. But I consider myself as an enthusiast who has some knowledge in assembling PCs. The Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX motherboard which is designed for AMD CPUs like most other motherboards is fairly nondescript. And all you have to know is the compatibility list so as to maximize your build. As mentioned earlier, this motherboard is for AMD CPUs meaning that it can handle late model Ryzen 3 CPUs and above. But Gigabyte touts that it can c=handle also the 7000/8000/9000 series chipsets. The build that I plan is for a Ryzen 5. The memory capacity of the motherboard is 192 GB and can utilize DDR5 and also has four slots. But honestly 16 GB is already enough for me but plan to go to 32 GB Also my existing memory chips are DDR4. If you are planning to add on a video card which is what gamers all do, I would suggest that the power supply you get is 500 watts. As of this writing, I have yet to acquire a new graphics card as my AMD Radeon is already antiquated. The ports are pretty much standard here as it includes all the video and USB ports including a USB-C port as well. I wish it did have dual HDMI ports so having a two monitor setup is way better. But one thing I did like is the inclusion of built-in Wi-Fi which is Wi-Fi six capable. This way I am not reliant on my router. Also one neat feature is that you can upgrade the firmware without an OS. But personally, I’d rather do a BIOS upgrade through Windows. The only downside with building your own rig is the Windows license which from a cost perspective, makes buying a full assembled desktop and adding accessories on it a viable option though building your own rig gives you full customization albeit at a higher cost. But right now my new rig is far from complete and given my schedule, it may take a month to complete it. Still this is a good project. I’d still recommend this motherboard.

Over the years I've upgraded my motherboards across multiple desktops that I've built for family members. My baseline being old school is an HP Omen 870 Motherboard, but technology has vastly improved so much that that's nothing now compared to this B650 Eagle. It's so easy to upgrade to a "super computer" for an affordable price in 2024. I confirm that I have a compatible CPU that has an AM5 socket. I have a Ryzen 9 7950X3D and paring with the B650, they are a perfect marriage. Compatibility-wise, I really like how it has a gen 5 m.2 slot as well as 2 gen 4 m.2 slots for my 4TB Gen 5 m.2 SSD haha. It's so nice to have especially as you get older, time becomes more important and valuable! With the AM5 socket, you're future-proofing for at least 5-10 years in my opinion, easily, especially with my Ryzen 9 7950X3D not taking up too much power. Thermals are really up to date for the modern times with really good VRM heatsink and thermal guard for powerful yet strong stability (like Captain America's shield, strong but light of vibranium). And finally, EZ-Latch is just a really nice convenience. Especially for gamers, we're used to inserting cartridges into an N64 or disc into a Gamecube, pressing a button to release a latch. Same thing here, with a simple button press you release the latch for ease of removing and replacing your graphics card. The above, plus all the nice things it comes with that you'd come to expect like USB-C ports (which is nice compared to just USB-3 & USB-2 like models of the past), nice next gen wifi (great for PS Portal without a wired connection), and physically fitting in a not super large surface area of a board, this is really a great board. I would say it's above entry level at an entry level price. You're getting a lot for a little--highly recommend giving it a shot. Not much to lose if you don't like it, especially for its affordability.

I recently upgraded my PC with the GIGABYTE B650 EAGLE AX (Socket AM5) motherboard, and I am thrilled with its performance. This motherboard is a powerhouse, offering support for AMD Ryzen 7000 Series processors, which provides blazing-fast speeds and incredible efficiency. The compatibility with DDR5 memory is a game-changer, allowing me to utilize four SMD DIMMs with AMD EXPO and Intel XMP Memory Module support, ensuring smooth and reliable performance even under heavy workloads. One of the standout features is the next-gen connectivity. With one PCIe 5.0 and two PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots, along with USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C, I have ample options for expanding my storage and connecting high-speed peripherals. The sturdy 12+2+2 Phases Digital VRM Solution ensures stable power delivery, making overclocking a breeze and providing the confidence that my system will remain stable during intense sessions. The comprehensive thermal design is another highlight. The advanced thermal solution, including the M.2 Thermal Guard, keeps my components cool and efficient, even during prolonged use. The fast networking capabilities, including GbE LAN and Wi-Fi 6E, ensure that I experience minimal lag and maximum speeds, perfect for gaming and streaming. The fine-tuning features like support for addressable LED and RGB LED strips, Smart Fan 6, and Q-Flash Plus for updating the BIOS without installing a CPU, memory, or GPU, make this motherboard incredibly user-friendly. Overall, the GIGABYTE B650 EAGLE AX is a stellar motherboard that combines performance, reliability, and user-friendly features. It's a five-star product that has exceeded all my expectations.

Let it be known - this was my first AMD-CPU-based build since the days of the K6-2 300mhz - it's been a LONG TIME, but I've had plenty of AMD-based laptops and GPUs during the meantime. I've also done quite a few Intel builds since then (several a year). This board is clean, no frills, and thankfully AMD has switched to a no-pins CPU design with the switch to AM5. BE CAREFUL- the pins on the board are exceptionally fragile and easy to damage if you're not cautious! 3 I paired this motherboard with a Ryzen 9 7950x3d , 32GB of Corsair DDR5 6000, an Aorus RX 7900 XTX, an EK AIO Cooler and a Seasonic 1200W power supply. Build was really no different than any intel build - was straight forward and to the point. BIOS has a lot of options - most of which I won't mess with simply because the performance I am seeing with defaults (I *DID turn on Expo in the memory settings!) is outstanding - I may be able to eek out some additional performance, but if it's not broke I'm not going to fix it - I'd rather spend my time gaming or doing work than tweaking something that really doesn't need to be fixed! CPU does run a little hot, but the AIO I have seems to have it well under control (what AMD CPU doesn't run hot?)

Great motherboard. Just want to start off with boxing. It is crucial that a piece of electronic tech such as a motherboard arrive with no damage and the boxing and packaging is certainly designed to protect this beast. When getting all of the pc components together, it became clear that the design of this board made it super easy to get the cpu, ssd's, ram, gpu, etc connected with ease. All the necessary slots and connections were crisp and solidly fitting. The mounting hardware was of great quality and it just made for a super sleak and solid assembling. This is my first gigabyte motherboard and after this build, I am confident that future builds would be well served by this brand for many reasons. When firing up the pc, I had no compatability issues and the whole process was buttery smooth for sure. Lastly, I want to express just how awesome the design of this motherboard is. Not only does it look awesome, but it feels well built and will definitely hold up when upgrading attached components. So so happy with this!

I’ve been using the motherboard for a while now and will say this is a nice board. I paired it with an AMD 7800x3d and 32GB of 6000mhz RAM. It looks great and is very easy to work with within the Hardware and Software. This motherboard has a lot of features that I need and am glad for. Including 3 NVME slots. One being PCI-E Gen 5 with a huge heatsink. This allows for tons of flexibility when it comes to storage. I currently have 2 NVMEs and I’m super happy to have that third slot. Building with it was a breeze the ports are in good spots and very adequate IO. The NVME locking pins made it super easy to install. Booting up I have no issues. Was able to easily set up my BIOS settings. I was able to quickly setup my XMP RAM settings and the BIOS was super easy to navigate around and check all my settings. My Ram RGB immediately recognized and was super easy to set up. Overall this mother board was super easy to upgrade to from my old one. Has all the creature comforts you need. Perfect for gaming.
