Clever songwriting meets a diverse and interesting use of sound in this collaboration between Death Cab for Cutie vocalist Benjamin Gibbard and multi-group artist Jimmy Tamborello. Listening to this CD with headphones will become a high priority after hearing it in your car on your way home from the store. A surprisingly upbeat duet between Gibbard and singer Jen Wood playing as a fed-up girl leaving a flawed yet compelling man features such lines as "Don't you feed me lines about some idealistic future / Your heart won't heal right if you keep tearing out the sutures." The sounds of forks scraping on plates opens for the percussion in "Sleeping In." The song "Brand New Colony" will take you back to the days of playing the original Nintendo, then bring you back to the present with its romantic lyrics. This album can both lull you to sleep or make you bob your head as you're speeding down the highway. Any fan of music looking for something different should look into this album and be introduced to an innovative and refreshing genre.
