I never played more than one level of a God of War game before this, but you don't need to. The story is involving and the combat is really second to none. I can't imagine someone not having a good time for the 30-40 hours it takes to beat the campaign.

Everything about this game was off the charts. The story, the lore, the graphics, the gameplay. Plus, The new mechanics were very refreshing; so smooth and gratifying once you get a good grip on it's controls. This game is a definite must have for any PlayStation owner

Finished this game, played all the other GoW games and this is by far my favorite. Kratos is a much more developed and complex character, the story carries a greater emotional weight, and the combat is seriously satisfying. Great game!

Possible game of the year candidate. I have yet to finish the game, but the 14 hours I have put into it so far have been the best hours I have spent on a game all year. The no-cut camera, fluid combat, fantastic visuals, and impressive story all add up to an amazing experience.

Didn't know how I'd feel about this one - it's even tougher to give you guys a review without giving too much away. :) Let's just say, there were some surprises I found very enjoyable within the game and my kind of humor when speaking with the NPCs. The game itself looks gorgeous and I thought the story line was excellent. I did find it a little repetitive at times - not grindy - but not substantially deep with different things to do - typical GoW game, frankly. Absolutely worth playing though and kept true to the gameplay of the originals. Highly recommended, if you have the scratch laying around...

This is a fantastic addition to the existing series. I wasn’t sure of the story line when I first picked it up but as the story progressed it did not disappoint. All in all the graphics, story fighting and the added customization make this game in my option a “Must Have!”

The newest installment in the God of War series is the best. The changes to the gameplay are welcome and don't feel forced or make it a different game altogether. The story and bond between the characters is great, with plenty of twists and jaw-dropping moments. Simply amazing!

As if you needed more reasons to buy a playstation. This game is fantastic! Amazing story telling, super fun action, clever puzzles and skill building. This game has it all. Oh and some of the best graphics you've ever seen.

This game is a masterpiece. I have never used that word for any other game (not even LoU). The gameplay is completely different from the previous "saga". Your main weapon is an axe. You don't really get another weapon like in previous games. You do have a sidekick, your son, which u can control to some extent. Combos are simple but once you get the grasp of it, you can make so much more The story is great. If you played the previous games you know who kratos is. If you haven't, the story gives hints to his past and it will give you a good idea. And his relationship with his son is great. You can see it progress and evolve. Ever since I started playing, I can't get enough. Finding pieces of lore, learning about Norse mythology, visiting the 9 realms, everything is amazing. The best part about this, it's like a movie. There are no loading screens. It just one seamless story. It just goes on and it's hard to put it down.

I haven't been hooked on a game in quite some time, but this one certainly has me. It is a stunning game visually and the mechanics and gameplay are top notch. Paired with a great story line and outstanding voice acting, this is easily one of the best games I have ever played.

Great graphics, sounds, gameplay. And an unparalleled story. The combat take some learning but rewards a small amount of patience with fun play where you can see yourself improve without being overly frustrating (if you are going crazy, drop a difficulty level). Love the game.

One the best games I've ever played. The vision they took on this IP is fantastic. Loved the Norse Mythology for the focal point. The acting and voice work was on the best. The visuals were absolutely stunning. This game makes me want a 4K TV. Good job to Santa Monica Studios.

Probably one of the best PS4 exclusives as of yet. Do yourself the favor of buying this game. The story is solid, the acting is solid, and the combat is good too. I was never a huge fan of the original trilogy but I’ll probably be following Kratos’ journey from here on out.

Love this series and this is an excellent addition. Story is like a well written movie screenplay and scenes are breathtaking. Fighting style is different from previous GOW games but is works well one you get the hang of customizing Kratos. A must have game for all PS4 owners.

One of the best GOW game! You have to play it! Worth the price

The best god of war yet. You want blood? You got it. You want action? You got it. You want a story? You got it. You want to feel as if your kratos yourself? You got it. You will not waste your money on this. If you think you did, oh well. Life goes on. Buy a different game.

It seems like the whole reason for this game’s existence was to make people say “man, that was really cool.” Awesome boss fights, stunning visuals, and engaging gameplay complement the great story for a game that’s been (so far) nothing short of amazing.

First of all I am not a God of War fan or follower of the saga since old consoles but I can tell you that is game is beyond excellence, great graphics, awesome history line, for sure this is the game of the year It is so good that even if it costs 1k usd I would buy it.

I loved the God of War games when I was growing up and I was excited to see a reboot done to the series, but was wondering how it would be approached in this era. They have done an absolutely amazing job with this game, if you have not played it yet, it is worth picking up, especially at the PlayStation hits price. The game has a much more mature tone while addressing the dynamics of father and son relationship as they progress through the game. But if you loved the hack and slash aspects of the old games, you will not be let down here either. The weapons are very well done, and fun to use, plus you learn to integrate your sons bow into your combat style.

I have not played any of the prior installments of the series. There are some references to the previous games but nothing vital to the story. The combat is fun and engaging. The story is entertaining with noticable character development. Overall an excellent purchase.
