The classic game that was a hack and slash action adventure has been updated to a smart gamer's RPG. I didn't think i was going to like this version but I've had a chance to play and i really like the update. The addition of the secondary character is a good fit. The story is well done and the graphics are beyond the typical set. Cut scenes are seamless into game play. I would highly recommend this game for new players and players that know the older versions.

This is a dark, mature action adventure game that will last around ~20-30 hour game (with no filler content) depending on how much you explore, and difficulty level you selected with emphasis on quality over quantity. The game has a very nice pacing/progression system that feels very natural. The game does not hand hold you, or set you to your own devices; rather gives you enough information to figure things out on your own

I can go on and on about this game. The change in playtime to a more 3rd person centric hack and slash really resonated well with me. The combat felt far better than I expected, the games locations where beautifully rendered, the story was wonderful and it was nice to see Kratos get character development for once. A few minor complaints but the game has done the God Of War name justice!

This is an amazing rebooting of a character and game that began to lose its luster and was close to falling in the category of obscurity. With this game, the fact that it brought new gameplay and a new world but also carried story elements from the previous game creates an amazing blend for new fans and veteran fans of the franchise. A must have for any fan interested in engaging single player games.

This game is amazing. Extremely quick combat that constantly demands your attention, while simultaneously being very deep with subtleties, like tripping enemies by attacking legs, precision points, knock back into environments for extra stun management. The production values are extensive, and story well delivered. The world is deceptively huge, but is initially pretty linear to fool you. Don't be fooled, and don't skip this game. Worth getting a PS4 for.

As a fan of the God of War franchise, I was very interested to see where this new storyline would take Kratos. I was interested in how the character that I had grown to love (and sometimes despise) would interact with a child. Any fears were soon quashed. The game is not only visually stunning, but the gameplay is very enjoyable. The story was one of the best of any game I've played. Highly recommend for both people familiar with or new to God of War.

This game is AMAZING. It takes Kratos, an angry 1-dimensional caricature of anger in all the prior games and gives him depth, and makes him an empathetic character. The story is full of heart as it tells the tale of the travels of Kratos and his son as they wander the Norse mythology, and reveal hidden secrets and dark powers that rule that land. The best game on PS4 along with Horizon Zero Dawn in my opinion. Make sure you play both!

I love the new playstyle and camera angle. One of my biggest issues with the old God of war games was how it was more of a button masher with occasional cutscene prompts. This game requires more coordination and the ability to read and predict enemy movements. At higher difficulties you will die a few times. I tried starting the game the first time at the hardest difficulty and couldn't even get past the first enemies. Definitely worth the purchase.

This is a must buy for any PS4 owner; great story, gameplay, and world! Good for people new to God of War!

This is a great addition to the series. It takes the well-established hack and slash action and fun puzzles that God of War is known for and adds the most compelling story yet. It’s accessible to people who haven’t played previous installments but rewards those who know the backstory. The open world can sometimes be a little slow to navigate but is fun to explore. Big fan of this game and looking forward to where they take this series in the future.

One of the best games ever made for the Playstation 4. You don't need to play any of the other GoW games to enjoy this one since it moves to a completely different scenario away from the Greek gods. Do yourself a favor and play it in HDR with a PS4 Pro, the graphics are some of the best ever produced to date. Story, combat, music, graphics and voice acting is all too notch. Highly recommended.

I KNEW I would love this game from the first time I saw the trailer. I've never played a God of War game before but boi, when I first saw the trailer for it I did some research about previous God of War games and I knew I had to buy and play this game and my gods is it a WONDERFUL game. The graphics, the story, everything! It also took home the Game of the Year award which I, of course, voted for! Amazing, amazing game. Total 5 stars.

I've waited a long tome for this game and it is everything I hoped it'd be. Clearly the best in the series. If there was one thing I'd change it be for a longer main story. The side quests keep you busy long after the initial game ends, which is fun, but with no story DLCs planned it was a much shorter story than I hoped for. Definitely worth owning and replaying. Each difficulty unlocks new stuff, so it gives you a reason to play all difficulties.

This game, while not truly "open world", has more content and things to do than some other actual open world games. The story is interesting and engaging and, just when you thought it was slowing down, something unexpected happens. The graphics are amongst the best I've ever seen and that includes anything on PC. A true masterpiece that every gamer should play! If you don't own a PS4, this is THE game that should help convince you to get one.

Having never played the original God of War games, I initially only had a passing interest in this one. However, after reading the reviews decided to give it a go. I finished the game totally blown away. The graphics are incredible, the gameplay is very engaging, and the boss fights are the highlight of the game. The story, voice acting, I could go on and on about this game. By far one of the best I have ever played. Highly recommended.

Graphics are amazing as they should be so let’s get that out of the way. Great cohesive story that makes sense in an a mythological setting. This game has tight gameplay mechanics and vastly improve from the older installments of the franchise. Highlights are the AXE! Never gets old. This game has the best “SUPERHERO” type fight ever implemented in a video game, Marvel & D.C. could take note ;) Overall this is a must buy if you are a PS4 owner.

I never cares for the original GoW games, but I could not ignore the praise circling this one. Picked it up and I was not disappointed. The story of Kratos matured since his last few games. While he is still a sulking angry fellow, the dynamic between him and his son is great. you see a lot more emotion. I haven't this moved in awhile. The combat is great and the puzzles go from light head scratchers to mind bending at times. Get this Game!
