The original God of War on the PS2 was great, and each installment has added it’s own touch to the series. This game revamped the gameplay and started an all new stroy with new mechanics and characters. The open world like concept, the ability to control the camera angle, and the costumizable options in this game have helped to bring new life to this series. I recomend it to any God of War fan or anyone new to the series. No prior knowledge of the series is required, although it does give you more of a background into Kratos if you have played past games, this game will bring you up to speed if you are new to God of War.

I preordered my copy on 4/17 and received it through UPS on the 20th. I have played the previous installments in the series which could be considered nearly generic hack and slash titles. This sequel does something the previous titles hadn't, it makes you care about the story and the characters far more than before. It's a journey of character/world development and shows how the main character has tried to change over the course of time from the previous title. It's always a great thing when the game is enjoyable when going for 100% completion. God of War will easily be competing for my personal game of the year spot.

Get ready for one of the best gaming experiences of 2018 by far. This game has it all - story, action, visuals, compelling characters, etc. cant recommend it enough.

"God of War" has it all. Great story, beautiful graphics, outstanding action and gameplay, puzzles, collectables...it's Game of the Year for a reason. Just play it.

I hadn't played the previous God of War games, but it's easy to see why they were so popular in the past. Crisp combat, great visuals, engaging battles. The difficulty, when ratcheted up, will definitely test your mettle. If you want a hack-and-slash type RPG with a little bit more depth to it, take a look at this game while it's on sale. It'll be well worth the price of admission.

God of War PS4 is a fresh new start for the series. Now taking place in Norse mythology, Kratos now lives in the Norse lands with his son Atreus. His wife has passed and her dying wish is to scatter her ashes at the highest peak. Now Kratos embarks on a journey while training his son to become a warrior while controlling his rage. It has a revamped battle system that is more like Dark Souls and less like a hack and slash. It makes for a more challenging game. The graphics are some of the best in gaming right now and the story is absolutely fantastic from start to finish. I highly recommend you pick up this winner.

This is not like any of the previous titles in this series. Instead of a wide view of the terrain the camera is always over Kratos' shoulder. Combat is done with an Axe that reminds me of Thor's hammer instead of the Blades of Chaos. The game really shines in its story. It is about Kratos and his son as they ascend the tallest peak in Midgar (this game uses Norse mythology instead of Greek since all of those Gods are dead now) and spread his wife's ashes as per her request. I have not completed the game yet but it is very compelling with top notch voice acting and insane graphics. Highly recommended to anybody.

This is like a combination of God of War and The Last of Us. This game did a lot of things right (story, world building, relationship between father and son, graphics, side quests, progression, and exploration). Nothing feels like a chore to me because I found enjoyment in exploration and finding rare treasure at the end of the endeavor. I didn’t think they could pull this game off because I really thought Kratos’s story should have ended after God of War 3. It could have been an ending. I’m glad I was wrong and these other 5 star reviews are not lying. This is genuinely an excellent game!

Amazing video game. I bought this game for my husband. He didn’t like it at first but after playing it for a while he loved it.

I have not played all the way through yet but 10 to 15 hours into it I can honestly say it's the best game I ever played and I play a lot of games. God of War is always been a favorite of mine but this new one takes the story of Kratos to another level fair warning this game is very addictive and you won't want to stop playing for a while. The only thing that could make this game better is the hope that we can get some single player DLC soon. If you don't have this game yet what are you waiting for drop what you're doing drive to Best Buy right now and buy it you won't be disappointed I promise

I never played any of the game in the God of War franchise so this was quite new for me. Santa Monica Studio is one the many game devs under Sony's umbrella. I never had any experience coming into my first attempt at God of War so it wasn't so enticing in the beginning. I wasn't too sure of how this would compare to the previous games since they never seemed appealing to me but after trying God of War 2018 I've gotta say it might be worth trying GoW 3 Remastered. Definitely worth GOTY 2018

This feels nothing like a God of War game, and at the same time it feels exactly like a God of War game. Kratos is back... but now he’s a dad. There’s a new side of his character that (I think) kind of makes videogame history. The new “Gods” are creative and the world is diverse and colorful. The combat is brutal and fluid. Controls are spot on. The game world is beautiful and varied. Customization and gear is plentiful. It’s really hard to find any flaw with this title. I would have loved 60fps, but besides that - it’s kinda perfect. Makes me want a PS4 Pro (for the higher FPS).

Simply put: This game is fantastic. They took an established character and lore... carried it over into a new mythos and made it WORK. There is much more story here, a more developed world... characterization... some of the best dialogue in a game I've heard, with fantastic voice over (VO) work. The combat is intense and only gets more so as you progress. And the game is wide-linear. There's a lot of open areas to explore off the path... you aren't constrained to your one set direction... and these areas are quite fascinating. Highest recommendation for PS4 owners.

It's a good game. Good story. Fun combat. Beautiful Graphics. My biggest gripe is there wasn't many boss fights. That was my favorite part of the games was all the cool boss fights. I dont think this is the best PS4 game. I think it is kind of over rated honestly. It is however a good game. And after the ending I cant wait to see what happens.

When it comes to the story, character development, action, never wanting to drop the controller, this game is without a doubt a shining example of that!!

A rebellious son, a father recovering from anger issues, and Norse gods that send you into disbelief after learning that they are not quite as the Marvel series depicts them as: God of war is undoubtedly the best game of 2018 so far. Diverging from the original formula of slash-slash-kill, this game has a narrative depth other games can only hope to get close to. The relationship between Kratos and Atreus is one that unfolds beautifully throughout the story as Kratos learns to be a good father all whilst dealing with a rebellious son. Play this game now.
