The God of War games have always been staples in the action/adventure genre, but this new addition goes far beyond its predecessors. Simply put, this is the best video game to be released on the PS4. Graphically, the scope is jaw dropping. Mechanically, the game perfectly blends Dark Souls style patient combat with the gruesome flashy action the series is know for. The heart of this game, however, lies with the story of a troubled father doing his best to raise and protect his son. This is a game that people will be talking about for years.

Positives: Almost everything about this game is top notch. The combat system, the music, the story, the graphics all add up to an amazing game. My favorite part is the combat in this game is which is absolutely amazing to play with and there are certain aspects to the combat that literally are so satisfying. The main story took me about 16 hours to complete and still have yet to do side missions and explore the map. Overall, best game I have played this year. Negatives: Makes the PS4 Pro fan sound like a jet engine sometimes lol

This is a fun romp in the God of War universe and a great direction for the game to go in to reboot the series. I loved the raw and hardcore action of the previous titles in the series but the new direction which is more comparable to other open world games such as Horizon: Zero Dawn, Uncharted (Narrative), and Shadow of The Tomb Raider. This game checks all the right boxes and the combat is still visceral and fun. A great game for anyone seeking God of War in their collection on PS4.

This game has leaps and bounds exceeded my expectations. When I purchased it, I was thinking it would be a good fun game. Well this game is that and so much more. There is a learning curve to the combat, but once you get good, it's extremely satisfying. The story and characters are absolutely top tier and somehow rival games on my PC rig (and I'm not even playing on a Pro). Santa Monica Studios should be commended for putting out a true masterpiece. This is one of the few games I will probably keep permanently due to it's replay value

OF course, my thought also was, awww man, a change to my all time favorite franchise, but so far, it has been great. Visuals, stunning, action, still brutal, 30 minutes in, 2 boss fights (1 not really but felt like it) and still feel like a bad mofo when I am in charge of Kratos. Of course, there is the child element which is very welcoming and seeing the struggle of Father and son.....this game is exciting so far! Can't wait to keep playing. No complaints at all other than camera angles from my nephew, but I have adapted to it quick.

My first experience with GoW was on the PSP, back in 2008. I was heading on vacation to South America and picked up the original game in the airport before leaving. It may have been the best video game purchase ever. Wonderful story and action for a handheld. I picked up this latest edition and am not disappointed. The colors and sounds are incredible. The story is immersive and you become Kratos and Atreus. I'm only three hours into the game and hoping that there are hundreds more. A wonderful experience. Highly recommended.

This game is really great so far. I've played all of the previous God of War games and so far I like this one the most. After playing all of the other games it does take a little bit of time to get used to the change in controls but once you get that it is a fun game with good dialogue and lots of puzzles on top of some good action. It also seems to have a good storyline with it as well. As noted in the review summary this game has a lot of violence and there is also vulgar language so it really is not appropriate for children.

This game is by far one of the best that I've ever played not only does it have wonderful gameplay but the story is immersive and extremely captivating on top of that it is absolutely beautiful I will be buying the new PlayStation when I possibly able to get my hands on it as well as the Xbox because I have been in Microsoft guy from the start but I will be getting the PlayStation for the follow up did this game because it was that amazing

My son bought me this game. Before getting it he told me I was gonna like. He was right. I'm 40 years old and I don't really play video game. I'm not a fun of games with out an story. This game in the other hand has an awesome story, excellent graphics and is a trip how the camara goes around the characters and the details are superior than any other game. Everything about this game is great. Story, graphics and controls are top notch. A different spin on the God of War franchise works out.

In typical god of war fashion this game is filled with adventure and thrills at every corner. The graphics are amazing and the story line is intriguing that makes you want it to not stop. My suggest, if you buy the game make sure to take your time and do every side mission in order to gain as much experience points as possible. Reason being is because the foes are strong and can give you a bit of challenge and if you are just cruising by you might get stuck on some enemies.

God of War have always been excellent. This is no exception. Killer graphics, great story and great controls. Super fun to play. Go buy.

Its weird, over always like God of War but the character of Kratos was always pretty one note, but they really turned things around. This game has very good combat, just as on the past but it very different. It's closer, heavier and feels nice and meaty. Your attacks weight and enemies feel more like threats, even the weaker ones. Outside of combat, the story is very interesting and kept me engrossed the whole way through. This is one game I wish had DLC, because I just want to play more of it.

I'll be honest... I've played all of the other instalments of G.O.W., on previous platforms and I was pretty much over it. So, I avoided this PS4 title for awhile now. Purchased this for a friend on sale, but found out after that he already has it?! Well, I've spent $20.00 on worse things and decided to give it a chance. The visuals and story are pretty rad, as well as, the addition of his offspring as an intermittently playable character. Still a button masher, but tons of fun!!

The newest God of War title is one of the most heartfelt, action packed, and well written pieces of video game entertainment to come around this console generation. The story is endearing, dramatic but also small in scope. The world is vast and able to be explored at your leisure without feeling daunting like some other massive open-world games. The combat is tight and fluid with many different options to customize armor, spells and passive buffs. I can't recommend this game hard enough, smash that buy button folks.

Great story, great gameplay, great characters. Combat is far more tactical this time around, focusing on dodging, parrying, and counters rather than wildly smashing buttons. Combat is less flashy than I remember but still just as satisfying. If there was one disappointing point for me it would be how Atreus ("Boy") is used in combat. There seemed to be little tactics or strategy in using him or his ability. There was almost no reason to not use his attacks on CD and it felt just like filler button spam.

This game is a terrific game. Possibly the best console graphics to date with a wonderful and exciting story, with good controls.

GOW 4 is a visually stunning game that adds a new storyline filled with emotion and plenty of action.

Fans of the series from its PS2 and PS3 days will not be disappointed. One of the best games of this console generation. The story is engaging and the combat is so fluid and visceral. Moving to an open-ish world was a fine choice, and there are always little secrets and side quests you can go off to do, when you need a bit more currency, exp or crafting materials. Oh yeah, this game has crafting! I could go on and on, but just do yourself a favor, and grab this. You will not be disappointed. BOY!

I haven't stopped raving about this game since I started playing! From the get-go, I have been hooked by how exciting and intense this game is! I had never played a previous God of War game, now I feel like I missed out. But regardless, this appears to be it's own story with some great tributes to Kratos' origin. I'm reminded of Last of Us in gameplay and cinematics, but the fighting is more reminiscent of Horizon Zero Dawn? Both are favorite titles of mine so this is a complete success in my book!
