Unlike previous God of War games, this entry is much more story-driven. You bond and relate with Kratos, who is grief-stricken at the loss of his wife and unsure of how to raise their son. The combat is more nuanced than previous entries in the series and require less button mashing, more planning and counter-striking. Absolutely the best game of the year so far.

As an avid rpg and action video gamer the new take on god of war welcomes a breath of fresh air into the heavy button mashed action heavy title. The game incorpates well thought out rpg elements in armour crafting system and stat boosts that complements the fast action orientated game. Overall, its a must buy for addictive gameplay, fun puzzles and entertaining story.

I have been a gamer for a long time. Every system from pong to the current generation. God of War is the best game I have ever experienced. Graphics, gameplay, and story are extremely well done. Based on the games released in the last year, we may very well be entering a golden age of games. I have no idea how any game will surpass the excellence of God of War though.

God of war is different than previous God of war games in a couple of different ways. the gore has visually been reduced and combat is less button mashy and fluid. What we still have here is a great game that looks gorgeous. It's a different Kratos with a wariness. The game plays great and the story is probably the best it's ever been. i can't recommend this enough

Hands down my favorite game of this console generation. No online multiplayer, no micro-transaction, just massive story-telling and intense melee combat that you can feel on a physical and emotion level. Amazing graphics! Going to have to upgrade to a PS4 Pro for my next playthrough for sure!. New Game+ gets added on 04/20/18 for additional replayability.

I bought this as a Christmas present for a buddy who has never played either this or God of war Ragnarok. He plans on borrowing my copy of Ragnarok that I just recently purchased once he makes it through this game. This was one of the first games I played on my PS five with the upgrade. It’s a truly amazing experience, especially for those who have a son.

God of War is a great reboot/sequel. Not only are the graphics amazing, and the more mature story is really well done, but the updated fighting mechanics make it feel like a souls game, and Atreus is actually a great side kick. I can't get enough of this game. If you're on the fence about buying it, get it without any further hesitation, it will not disappoint.

This game is amazing. It has a very decent learning curve in terms of gameplay, with a lot of mechanics to learn. There are a TON of different wants to play the game, varying from special attacks to just straight up pummeling enemies. However, the game shines not in it's myriad of ways to play the game, but it's immersive story. Playing as the God of War Kratos some number of unknown years into the future after the last game, you embark on a personal quest to fulfill your late wife's dying wishes - to spread her ashes at the top of the highest mountain in all the realms. This game differs from the rest of the other God of War titles in that it features deep NORSE mythology rather than Greek mythology. Take your time with the game and enjoy every bit of it. It's definitely something for everyone.

Despite what concerns people may have had about the new combat style and camera for God Of War, it is still a God Of War game at heart. The visuals, the sounds, and the story is simply outstanding. I’m glad that they switch it up from the hack and slash that the series has been known for. I can’t wait for the inevitable sequel to expand the Norse mythology story.

This game is very immerrsive and fun to play. Gameplay is easy and controls are not to complicated. There is some little to get used to but overall you will get to understand really quickly on how the game progress through the story

Easily one of the best games of 2018 and one of the few games I’d play more than once and be done with. Visually stunning, with an amazing story in place and an all around epic cast of characters. I definitely recommend this buy to anyone who is an old school fan of the original games or someone who’s new to the series and this would be your first time playing.

Playing this game on a PS4 Pro and OLED tv and my goodness... I find myself setting the controller on the couch next to me and watching the cinematics like it's an episode of my favorite television show. This game looks absolutely fantastic and the story is one of the best I've seen in gaming in years. Highly recommend for any gamer, I wouldn't miss this one.

This game is a tremendous reboot to the series. Once I got used to the controls, I realized that the combat is not that different than previous installments. Several different difficulty modes make this appropriate for the most hardcore gamers as well as those looking to dive headfirst into the immersive story with a casual gaming experience. Would recommend.

Yes! Yes! Yes! God of War is the best console game ever. If you have a PS4, you have to play it. I won't tell you a lot to prevent spoilers but there are many twists in the story and you're likely won't see them coming! Kratos and his son are awesome! I already put in more than 40 hours and I still cannot stop playing the game!!! BUY IT and PLAY IT right now!

One of the best games of the playstation, it has impressive graphics that feel like 3d animated movie, the story is really good I won't give spoilers, and the action is some moments the games gets pretty hard with some boss fights.. I can't wait for the sequel !!

This story was downright amazing. The action was fantastic, and the method in which the love and dialogue was presented was absolutely perfect - all the way through the ending. This game easily ranks in my top 5 of all time (going all the way back through my days on the Sega Master System).

God of War still has the classic smooth combat of the other games but with a maturity that changes the way you think about this entry in the series. No longer just a fantasy killing spree, the game has emotional weight and a slower pace. You can lose yourself in the world Sony Santa Monica has built, raising the bar for every game in the genre to follow.

Graphics, animations, sound effect and controls all are amazing. The combos in this game are very creative and will keep you wanting to perfect them more and more. I didn’t think I’d like this game as much as I am but I’d easily say this is one of the best games I’ve played in a long time. I have pretty high standards for gaming nowadays but this takes it.

This game is too good for it’s own good! Within the first few moments of starting, I was shocked by the level of detail on the characters and the world itself. The world is large and absolutely beautiful, the plot is relatively simple(but good), most of the characters are likable, and the lore is so rich that I could see three more games come from this.
