Chromecast is a great idea but after two hours of attempting to connect it to my wifi, I gave up. It would connect and then loose signal repeatedly. I reset my wifi, and tested other devices in my house (blueray players, smart tvs, laptops, etc). Everything except the chromecast could find the wifi. This was surprising to me as the chromcast was in the room next to our router setup. I'm bummed that this didn't workout. Maybe after it's been out for another year and had some bugs worked out, I'll give it another chance.

If you are looking into buying one, do a little research first and make sure you know what you are buying. Right now the chromecast has a limited number of apps that it supports: Netflix, Youtube, Google Movies, Google Music and Pandora. However, since it runs on Android, there are several service providers who are working on their apps for it. So while it is limited now, it definitely has potential. AND it's only $35. Set up was probably the easiest I've experienced. Took maybe 10 minutes and most of that time was waiting for it to update its firmware. Just follow the directions and you'll be good to go. Netflix streamed perfectly, and I love that I have the ability to control what is playing from any device. If you're looking for a cheap, easy way to watch Netflix on your TV, definitely give this a try.

While chromecast is a good tool to cast your YouTube videos to your TV, and your tabs, i found it quite lacking in working even with 720p video streaming and music streaming.

If google takes this seriously, it can be a great product. They must release the SDK and enable software developers to create. *MUST* support local content ... big minus for now.

The mirroring feature works great, but video is a lil clunky. I have to spend some more time with it for a final judgement, but I think I prefer my Apple TV over this unit.

It's nice, I didn't like that I had to keep operating it off my phone or computer. We tried it cus it's cheaper than the Roku and still ended up exchanging it for the Roku.

Too goood to be true if it works w/o drops. Stopped using it a lot occasionally use it. Need to keep the laptop m nearby to reconnect after drops. Quality is gr 8 when it works

Don't plan to watch movies from your laptop to google chrome from you tube or Internet - too slow and skips frequently. Googke chrome is just for basic laptop projection

I've checked every geek site out there and it appears I can't use this for the reason I purchased it....which is to stream video from laptop to hotel TV. Can't be done.

This product will be good for person who will use often YouTube for casting.. When comes to other features,it's worth spending for roku...YouTube lovers can go for this...

Installation was fairly easy. Not sure if there is a problem with the ChromeCast or my wireless network. Sometimes the TV does not see anything plugged into the HDMI input.

Had issue with chrome cast I bought in amazon. Hence returned it and bought another from bestbuy. This worked fine for 3 weeks but from then on, it stopped working.

I didnt like this product it didnt mirror my movies accurately in line with my tv, had to install chrome on my macbook which i dont like. Returned and bought apple tv

Not only problems connecting and activating, but numerous pop ups along the way. I will have to get some technically savvy to make this product operational. I am savvy enough to get most devices to work. Total lack of instructions, beyond do 1,2 3, presto. Not so easy.

I bought Chromecast because it was cheap. I already have an Apple TV and wanted to see what Google had delivered. One objective was to be able to watch Flash Player on my TV so I could stream sports from my iPad, Dell laptop, or Kindle Fire HD. None of them were able to do it, or better said - I could not figure out how to do it. I suppose if you want to stream Netflix or other such media and do not already have an Apple TV then the Chromecast would be a good choice. Otherwise I would not recommend it.

This product can not be used without the internet, I was looking for a way to get my phone to sync on the TV, this product is unable to do that without internet.

Product use and quality: Its good to stream youtube from computer to tv Its OK to stream netflix from computer to tv Connection: Its worst when moving to different wireless network. COULDN'T connect in many instances. Had different error messages each time. Calling to Google Support is the WORST.. LONGEST EVER I had to stay on hold in recent times. Ended up disconnecting the call due to long wait times.

I was liking this, but gotta return it because of constant power need, which I did knot know. I'm getting something else.

I use this to stream movies from my laptop to my tv. It is hot or mots if it works correctly. Sometimes there is lag. Overall I do not think I would buy this again.

So I bought the Chromecast knowing it had limited iOS compatibility and I was willing to deal with that given the size and cost. What I didn't realize was that it would be useless for me given the reason I bought it which was to have the ability to sure it in hotels when I travel. Be sauce the device relies on a WiFi network for use and because hotel WiFi networks don't allow device to device communications for security reasons you can't use the Chromecast in most if not all hotels. Total bummer.
