The band is lightweight yet durable, and the woven texture in the Rye color gives it a premium, sporty look. Syncing with my Samsung Android phone was seamless, and the tracking accuracy impressed me, especially for heart rate and sleep. It’s perfect for those who want fitness insights without the distraction of a display. A bold, elegant innovation that truly embodies simplicity and performance.

I love it with my Pixel Watch 4 or without it

I've been a fan of Google for a while, but lately my perspective has changed a bit. Google is great at building hype around its products, though sometimes that excitement wears off and I'm not always sure why. I really liked using the Google Fitbit app and the health features on their devices. The Pixel Watch 4 is one of my top picks. While a smartwatch can do what the Google Fitbit Air does, having both offers some unique advantages. Sometimes I wake up to find my Pixel Watch battery is low after a couple of days. I put it on the charger, get ready, and then realize at work that I left it at home. That always disappoints me because I like tracking my steps, exercise, and other health data in the Google Health app. But if I wear the Fitbit Air all the time, those stats still get recorded, even if I forget my watch. Plus, when I play basketball, wearing a smartwatch isn't ideal, so the Fitbit Air is really useful. I chose the Steph Curry version without seeing it in person because I liked the unique colorway compared to the other options Google offers. The gray and orange look good, and the stitching feels premium, even though the material reminds me of leftover bands from my son’s Fitbit Ace. The band is light and comfortable, and after a while, you barely notice it. The design details make this special edition stand out. I’m not a big fan of having Steph Curry’s name as the most prominent label on the watch. I think just the hashtag #LOCKIN would have been enough, but it’s not a huge issue. The square piece with Stephen Curry’s name and the #LockIn slogan feels soft, almost rubbery. The outside of the band has a woven nylon texture that looks and feels high-quality. Google says the band is made from nylon, recycled polyester, and elastane yarn, with a stainless steel buckle. They also say the band and module are water-resistant. I’ve worn it in the shower without any problems, just like I sometimes do with the Pixel Watch. Still, I’d recommend taking it off for showers, swimming, or any time you’ll be in water for a long time. Google claims it’s water-resistant up to 164 feet, so I guess that means it’s basically waterproof. The Air tracks your steps, calories burned, distance, resting and target heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, exercise duration, hours slept, and sleep stages. Some people don’t like wearing a watch to bed, so the Air can track everything the Pixel does, which is great. I like wearing mine to bed because if I wake up naturally after 5:00 AM, I usually get up after checking my watch (I know I could easily get an alarm clock too). At $130, it’s a great device that works really well for me. But do I think the “special edition” is worth the extra $30? Not really. I think more bands will be available soon, so I’d skip the Steph Curry version unless you’re a big fan or really love the colorway.

Fitbit Air - Feels Like Nothing, Tracks All!

Activity trackers have certainly come a long way. From the initial Fitbit devices to smartwatches, smart rings and now smart bands. Google Fitbit Air is an activity tracker in a smart band formfactor that manages to still stand out in this crowded landscape. As packaged: • Google Fitbit Air (Tracker and Wristband) • USB-C Docking Cradle • Support Leaflet • Safety, Warranty and Regulatory Guide Leaflet While smartwatches can essentially perform all the functions of the Fitbit Air, the reverse is not true. At its core, the Fitbit Air is a 1.4-inch X 0.7-inch X 0.3-inch plastic tracker with sensors for heart rate and oxygen saturation monitoring along with a 3-axis accelerometer + gyroscope for capturing physical movement. The Velcro bands serve as docks for the tracker and can be easily swapped by the user. Mine, the Special Edition Stephen Curry Rye band, comes with a water-resistant coating. It included signed packaging and an inspirational “LockIn” from the man. The tracker itself is water resistant to 50 meters although I have not tried immersing it. In addition to the sensors, there is a vibration motor, a bicolor LED, Bluetooth 5.0 and a Lithium-polymer battery. Sadly, the vibration features appear limited to only low power, activity and alarm notifications. The alarm can also only be set through the Google Health app. Regular alarms set on the paired smartphone will not vibrate on the Google Fitbit Air. In my experience, I have been able to achieve about five days between charges. I typically wear my Fitbit Air all day and night, removing only to shower. The design of the band protects the tracker as it covers it. It also makes it very inconspicuous as the Fitbit Air appears to unsuspecting eyes a simple band. With smartwatches and even smart rings, there has always been the tendency for damage depending on the routine task one could be performing. You would be surprised at how much contact a smart ring makes as you reach for a door knob. The Google Fitbit Air by design is heavily shielded from damage which implies less likelihood of removal and missing out on activity tracking. Another great feature of the Fitbit Air is its simplicity to use. The setup process is very easy. As there is no power button, the tracker is “triggered” to pair once it is docked with the charging cradle. The Google Health app is the main repository for all data collected via the Fitbit Air and also acts as the default controller. My setup was via Android OS. As previously mentioned, the optional alarm feature of the Fitbit Air can only be enabled via the Google Health app. Two physical taps of the Fitbit Air provide an at a glance battery status delivered via the LED: two white blinks indicate battery level over 20 percent while blinking red indicates the battery level is under 20 percent. When the blinking red turns solid, you have reached zero percent. The Google Health app remains the only means to get the actual battery percentage should you desire. While not required for use, the Google Health Premium subscription ratchets up the user experience to a whole new level with personalized coaching and insight into the collected data. As Gemini is always evolving, the best is yet to come which also infers that it may be hard to use the Fitbit Air without the subscription once the included 3-month trial runs out. Steps, sleep measurements and readiness scores are on par with other trackers I own. In summary, I have been very impressed with the Google Fitbit Air thus far. It appears well built and should only get smarter if what Google has done in the past is anything to go by. For a first iteration, this ball was knocked out of the park! I highly recommend.

A device that fits your lifestyle

I’ve been a Fitbit fan since 2018. My first device was the Fitbit Charge, and I’ve relied on Fitbit ever since to monitor my health, track my stats, and keep me motivated. A couple of weeks ago, Google released its new unified health platform, Google Health app, replacing the Fitbit app and bringing all of Google’s wearable health tracking devices together into one integrated experience. Right on the heels of that release, the new Google Fitbit Air arrived at my home. At first, I wondered why it didn’t have a watch face, since I’ve grown so accustomed to the Fitbit Charge series. It only took a moment for the reasoning to click. My wife saw the new Air band and was immediately drawn to the design of the Google Fitbit Air: Special Edition Stephen Curry. I had given her a Fitbit before to help track her health and workout stats, but she never cared for wearing a watch. The Air band, though, is a completely different story - this one she actually likes. One of the main reasons I’ve stuck with the Google Fitbit line is its reliable, consistent health tracking. Day after day, it gives me step counts, cardio heart rate readings, and activity data I can trust. Each morning, I check my Fitbit sleep score and data, and I have to admit - it’s impressively accurate across the entire sleep spectrum. It nails the timing on Total Awake, REM, Light, and Deep sleep without fail. After eight years of Fitbit sleep tracking, I can tell you this much: when the score is good, I wake up ready for the day, and when the score isn’t so flattering, I can feel the drag before I even make it to my morning tea. Sleep tracking has always been strong, but it’s now improved further by being “calculated with new algorithms in Google Health.” Honestly, with the range of health metrics Fitbit Air monitors, it’s basically the world’s most polite little surveillance device - quietly tracking the things that matter enough to keep me rolling along in good tune. My favorite Health Metrics include: - Core Health Metrics – Resting heart rate/heart rate/heart rhythm - Weekly Cardio - Distance – steps and miles (does not record bike miles though indicates spinning/cardio) - Readiness – Heart rate variability/past week of sleep/resting heart rate - Calories burned - Zone and Exercise days - Hydration Log - Strength and Cario workout videos Notes: - Water resistant to 50 meters = swim proof - Excellent battery life – up to a week - Fast charging - Straightforward - no nonsense design - Seamless transition into Google’s new health ecosystem - Focuses on health and fitness - not apps and distractions - Proven durability - kind that builds confidence over time - AI Health Coach (Gemini subscription): can build weekly workout plans and targets that keep you on track – Impressive Google Fitbit Air is a full-time health tracking band, built to record your body’s signals continuously and quietly. I like how lightweight and comfortable it is. I can wear it 24/7 without even noticing it, which is a big part of why I’ve stayed with Fitbit for so many years. I’ve tried a few bulkier sports watches - nice devices with plenty of features - but even with all that, I’ve stayed with Fitbit. Where the runner meets the road (pun intended) for me is this: it all comes down to one thing - motivation is paramount to everything that follows.

    Comfortable and intelligent workout companion

After relying on a loaded smart watch as the main device to track my workouts, the new Google Fitbit Air takes a refreshingly minimalist approach to fitness tracking. It is much more comfortable than a bulky watch that, honestly, I can’t read anyways without glasses which I don’t wear during gym sessions. The FitBit Air design focuses on lightweight, screen-free wellness monitoring simplifying my workout experience and that is largely what makes it appealing. I opted for the Stephen Curry edition honestly because of the orange color which is one of my sports team’s colors and I usually wear a lot of orange. Out of the box, the band was very easy to set up after a quick charge with the included magnetic charger and using the Google Health smart phone app. After answering a few personal questions regarding my age, build, health and routine, I had it start tracking my workouts similarly to how I was using my smart watch during workouts. As with most fitness trackers, the FitBit Air tracks essentials like heart rate, sleep, steps, distance, calories burned, and workout activity. Some of the more technologically advanced metrics it offers are measuring SpO2, heart rate variability, skin temperature variation, Cardio Load, Daily Readiness, and AFib monitoring through the companion Google Health app. Battery life is another strong point with up to a week of use and fast charging that can deliver roughly a day of power in just a few minutes. Because it tracks all this information throughout the day and night, the AI-powered coaching features, which are tied to a subscription but I strongly recommend, are incredibly useful and give you amazing recommendations to stay on top of your health. I noticed an immediate difference in just the interaction I was having with the FitBit Air versus my smart watch which was, in my opinion, just spitting out data and numbers that I was expected to sort through, decipher and adjust my life and workouts accordingly. Using the Google AI Coach before and after workouts, it felt as if I was working with a real life coach that immediately knew what the data meant, asked how I felt after working out, asked how my injuries felt, and made specific recommendations on what to do next such as drink lots of water after high intensity workouts, stretch before bed, get extra rest/sleep, etc. Another thing I love about the FitBit Air is it’s much more comfortable to wear at night versus a smart watch that I usually keep on a charger at night anyways. After having it track my sleep a few nights, I realized I wasn’t getting enough deep REM sleep which had been affecting my energy level during the day. After reviewing the data, I decided to make a doctor’s appointment because of a potentially serious health concern that needs to be addressed. Overall, the Fitbit Air stands out because of its comfort and simplicity. Its slim, discreet design makes it easy to wear all day and night, which is especially important for sleep tracking. The tradeoff is that athletes or data-heavy users may find it too passive: there is no screen, no onboard GPS, and workout detail is more limited than what you would get from higher-end trackers or smartwatches. Still, for casual users, beginners, or anyone tired of notification overload, the Fitbit Air is an excellent choice. At this price point, the band is positioned as affordable entry point for people who want health data without constant notifications or a bulky device on their wrist which is annoying while trying to stay focused during gym sessions.

I use this daily, and its working as intended. Sleep and heart rate monitoring is what I use it for and no issues to report. First 6 days of use battery was still at 20%. We will see as time goes by, but happy with battery life being a small product.

The Google Fitbit air is a new device from Google that does what most trackers do, but with the help of the ever evolving Google health app now, I hope it will be better and better with time. for starters this tracks Steps Heart rate HRV Resting heart rate Sleep patterns and time auto detects activities Calories all of the above is done automatically with no input needed with zero cost on top of what you pay for the device. if you have the premium version, you get an AI coach, guided training courses for different fitness levels and activities. you can also connect other devices to get more data imported to Google health app to make a holistic image of your health. you can also connect your medical records if you want. I have been wearing this device for over a week now, and still wearing my Garmin Venu 3 pro that does everything the Fitbit air does and I have been comparing them for the past few days. the data is almost identical on both for all critical data points. I can now switch from my Garmin to a classic watch. The fitBit air is extremely light and comfortable, i like the aesthetic of it and the ability to change bands to fit occasion or to just mix it up. the Stephen Curry edition band is the most comfortable band if you use it for activities and has been holding on great. I really like this tracker and I see myself wearing it for years to come.

Very comfortable band for everyday wear. Working in construction and it’s holding up great! I shower with it every once in a while to clean the band from sweat. I wanted to track my workouts and everyday steps/activity without breaking the bank and using an expensive watch. Working around concrete, mud, water all still good. Definitely will be buying some as gifts. The app is a bit eh, but not terrible. I didn’t come from the Fitbit app era so I can’t compare, although many people found it way worse now that’s its the google health app and not the Fitbit app.
