It is able to sync with my phone automatically. And I can read short text messages without opening up my phone. However, it has a poor band which is very rigid and hard. It hurts my wrist. I almost return this, until I bought a replacement band. Now, I am fine.

Every Charge model failed on me after 6-8 months. Failures were either battery drained unusually fast and/or blank screens. Warranty replacement helped for another 6 months'ish. The pattern of failures were remarkably consistent across the models suggest Fitbit either could not fix and/or ignored the problems. It is unfortunate that Fitbit relied on customers to go away on tge warranty claims after one mid-life replacement (perhaps with refurbished devices that were returned). I'm surprised that Google took-over did not improve their product quality. After this many years and # of devices that I've given chances, no more Fitbit for me!

I really thought it through- is it worth the money? Is it user-friendly? How much information will it really give me? Its totally worth the money. Super easy to use. LOADS of information. No i don't use the premium. It keeps me on track with what im eating and how many calories go out , as well as keeping me mindful of moving. I love it more than expected.

I’m delighted with the features on this device. My wrist is too small for the smart watches, but with the ability to receive texts and notification of calls, plus have access to Google wallet, this comes in a close second. Plus, I can track my workouts without having to record them later in the app. The only thing I miss is the altimeter, so I hope they bring that back in the future. I’m not a big athlete, just a normal person, so this is perfect for me. Very pleased with my purchase.

Its quite a few steps up from original, alerts you for various things, or keep it quiet if you prefer.

Only 2 slight downsides, I don't like the orientation of the large numbers (2 on top, 2 on bottom - I know you can make your own but I haven't). I just think it looks odd. And it seems to drain my phone battery more than the charge 4. But overall, I love it, big upgrade for me from the 4.
