    Using it a consignment shop

I'm using this is a security camera in a consignment shop. It's worked already to identify shoplifters as it's so small they aren't aware of it. I feel like the battery lasts at least 2 weeks. I've only had it a month and have only charged it one time. Plus there's quite a lot of recording that happens thoughout the day, about 30 or more clips, so i feel like its doing it's job well. I couldn't be happier. I especially like that the field of view is great to take in the entire display area and the video quality is great. The only downside is that its motion activated and therefore not 24/7 video streaming and therefore may stop recording if no movement. There may be a way to add it to Nest Aware account that i have, but i havent figured that out yet. Currently using Google Home app which is fine, but might prefer video streaming instead of just video clips which Nest Aware Plus would have. I'll research further. This was just a proof of concept for me and, so far, it's more than I expected.

While I am inundated with notifications on my phone with anyone whom the camera detects walking by or approaching, I enjoy the accuracy and quality of this doorbell camera. This is the battery nest doorbell and does not come with a doorbell chime, which I wish it did because your phone is the only way to tell if someone rings it; although, it’s great for it’s purpose and I have not had any problems with it so far.

This is our 4th door bell camera. Very officiant, practical, and easy to use. What we love the most as Airbnb hosts. That this camera has a facial recognition and you simply can add everyone and named them. This way everytime when someone else shows up or the guest who is not supposed to be there camera send notifications right away and you can talk through that as well. Awesome. Definitely not the last one.

I was a little skeptical of purchasing a refurbished model at such a great price, but when it arrived, I was impressed that it was in great condition. It came in the original box with all the screws and angle mount. The only thing that was missing was the rubber feet for the back, but I didnt need it for my surface. I did have a little trouble at first setting it up in the Google Home app. I had to factory reset it in order to set it up in the app. Even though this is a battery model, you can still wire this up for constant power. If your looking for a smart doorbell, look no further than this one!

I bought this as as "open box", so I knew it wasn't pristine. However, I'd like to know before buying that a part (and which part) was missing. Anyway, I was able to install it and it works greatly. I'm satisfied with it.

I've been a customer of Nest products since before Google bought them out so I'll start by saying, Nest products were far better pre-Google takeover. It feels like they've gone backward overall. With that said, I still believe they're the best in the market, and here's why: Their notifications are pretty accurate compared to other doorbell cams. It seems to understand the different between a person, an animal, a vehicle, and a package. Only once did it think an animal was a person but that's because we had 10 deer in our yard and I don't think the camera knew what to make of it lol. As we don't have power to where our doorbells are, we had to go for the battery. Battery life doesn't seem as long as they advertised but we are also in a busy neighborhood with lots of people walking throughout the day. I was able to connect it to our Alexa devices which is nice. The video quality both during the day and night is excellent. I noticed the view of this camera is more vertical compared to the old Nest doorbell cameras which had a much fuller square image. Seems like I can't see as much to the left/right. The resolution could also be higher given the price point. 4k seems like the minimum it should be but they insist on using 1080p. Overall, it's a nice doorball cam, still one of the best on the market and I'm happy with it.

Hi there, Mike. Thanks for your detailed feedback on the Nest Camera (battery). It's interesting to hear your perspective as a long-time Nest customer, especially regarding the changes. It's good to know that despite some perceived backward steps, you still consider Nest to be among the best options on the market. Your experience with the Nest Doorbell (Battery) seems to highlight some of its notable features and limitations. It's impressive that the notifications are generally accurate in distinguishing between different types of motion. We're sorry to hear about the battery life that has been less than ideal and your opinion has been noted. Overall, it's encouraging to hear that you're satisfied with the Nest Doorbell (Battery). I was a previous RING owner so I was expecting chimes and alerts every time someone is by the camera or it picks up someone on the camera. If you have gotten used to that feature on the ring you may struggle with the comparison. I do like that it is connected to my Alexa devices throughout the house. Alerting me when someone actually presses the doorbell. No delays like the Ring. Also a little more sleeker than the Ring.

The best video doorbell - Google wins Again!

So far I have to say I'm loving my new doorbell. I've been wanting to get a Google Nest doorbell for a while, but I refused to pay $180 for it and for the past couple years have used two different ones purchase elsewhere. One of them I cannot remember the name of and the other most recent was a Blurams branded video doorbell. Well I didn't have anything necessarily against my previous doorbell when I saw this one on special for open box I have to admit I jumped at the opportunity to get it on discount. I also wanted to purchase it because of the subscription price. My previous doorbell was $5 to $6 per camera, per month and I wasn't impressed with their cloud service. Google Nest to aware has two subscriptions there lowest tier and the one that I currently belong to is only $6 a month and it will cover any camera in your home or outside your home that is Google Nest branded and unlimited in how many allowed under the subscription! While you will end up paying more for the Google devices versus a more generic brand, I have to admit, I have learned in the past few years that Google while carrying a price point on their products I consider to be expensive, They're built with quality, great technology and generally are worth paying more for. So I do struggle in between the internal die hard deal. Hunter bargain junkie and being the "OFFICIAL unofficial 'Google Guy" from time to time but when it comes to choosing tech for everyday use or for my home- particularly something to be used long-term- there is no doubt in my mind that my submitting to the higher price tag has a logic behind it because I will get the quality, the durability, the use, and the overall value that I am paying for. Google makes a killer product and I can't recommend this one enough. I like that, unlike with others on the market, I don't need to have a separate plug-in chime unit to hear the doorbell ring. If somebody rings the doorbell, it will notify you obviously on your phone and other devices, but it will also it chime through your smart speakers, Google hub, or other Google devices and your assistant will alert throughout your house "Someone is at the front door". It can also easily be called up onto your Chromecast or Google TV with Chromecast to see the footage at the front door. And thanks to the new makeover of the Google Home app, which I was lucky enough to be part of the pilot program on, You can easily enter the home app and see the footage there as well. Add it to your favorites and it'll be the first to pop up in your list. Like with all google products, It's easy to use right out of the box and plug and play friendly. Quick to install and so far i'm noticing the battery lasts a significantly longer amount than any of the others I've owned. The picture quality itself is very impressive even when zooming in to full capacity. You can even create specific zones within the camera so that it'll only alert you should something enter that specific area. This can come in handy if your doorbell view includes a parking lot, but you have a walkway leading to your front door and you have all of the events alerts ticked so when You map your own zone. You can have it set so that if a car arrives or a person is seeing and it's in that parking lot area outside of the zone you've created just in the walkway before your front door it will not alert you. Or you can have it alert you but leave it on a lower priority. There is a lot of customability here and you'll find it all easily available inside the Google Home app. This is one of the smartest purchases that I have made this year and I only wish I would have done it sooner. I highly recommend picking this item up. (Side note, one of my favorite things is that this is 5G compatible. It will hook up easily to your internet's on either the 2.5 or 5G- most doorbells on the market will only attach to the 2.5 and that makes them spotty at best and delayed in their response. By being 5G friendly, this is on point and you get your notifications on time)

Hi there, Mikes. Thanks for sharing your insights about the Nest Doorbell (battery). We’re glad you like its image quality and field of view, and we hear your concerns about its size along with its battery life.

The Nest Doorbell (battery) is designed with a built-in rechargeable battery, that drives the size of the device, so that it's flexible to use with or without a wired power connection. Nest Doorbell (wired) requires it to be continuously connected to power with wires, which enables it to have a smaller profile. Also, the battery life depends on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Perfect Doorbell If You Already Use Google Things

Awesome doorbell if you already use Google Home equipment. I bought a refurb unit for my parents' house after they saw ours and wanted one as well. The unit came with everything needed in the box, including screws, the metal plate and the angled wall bracket. I don't recall if it came with a USB c charging cord or not though. No problems with the doorbell, it came clean didn't have any scratches. Install was easy, just drill your holes, add your anchors, and screw everything in. It took about 30 minutes total to get everything measured out and installed on stucco. --- Nest Aware Subscription Definitely Recommended --- If you plan on using this as a security device, you'll want to also get Nest Aware, which runs $12/month at the time of writing. By default, the doorbell only has 3 hours worth of recording available and if you have an important event that happens at midnight, odds are by the time you wake up it's already been erased from the doorbell. With Nest Aware you get 10 days of 24/7 continuous recording that you can scrub through and 60 days of event recording to the cloud that you can view on demand. Without Nest Aware it wouldn't be worth it to me, but as a Google household, having Nest Aware makes sense for the other features it unlocks with the rest of the ecosystem.
