Good quality cameras, software is evolving

Owned for 9 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very good cameras, do experience some latency from time to time which can be frustrating, I do not think it is my WIFI network, rather then ongoing integration of Nest and Google h/w and s/w. I would recommend to those who have done their research into their needs and can verify these meet them.

Whatever is used to power the camera, the plug seems to be backward as the cord end loops out toward the camera instead of flowing back to the mount. having a little difficulty connecting with voice, but other than that the cameras are good.

You do not have access to old footage, only seen events. I can walk right past these cameras and half the time never trigger an event. About 80% of the time when you open the home app the cameras say no connection and takes clicking refresh over and over. I do not have the same issues with my wired cameras however when i add all of my cameras they all start to glitch. My wired cameras will record a few seconds and then say video not available for a few seconds and the footage is basically useless and you’re unable to connect and watch the footage live. Eventually (days later) the footage is magically available. When i remove any 1 camera this stops. So imagine you hear something outside and want to check out what’s going on. Only to be met with a black screen that says video unavailable refresh for 30-45 seconds. Knowing the device doesn’t pick up events half the time and there is no video history.

Good enough, but google sure is messed up

However now that google has fragmented the nest ecosystem, those of us that have "older" nest products now have to live with two different platforms. If I want to see these cameras, i have to go to the home app. Other cameras, to the nest app. History in one, not the other. Alerts from nest app and sometimes the home app overlap. Its silly.

The battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Also, connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter for continuous power will keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).

Recharging the camera

Given that they run on batteries, you can practically set them up anywhere inside or outside the house. I've set mine up near our front door, and another in front of our garage. The batteries seem to be pretty good. Only charged them up once so far, and they're still good for another few weeks; and I have them for a few weeks already.
