The only downside is the temperature extremes in MN - we're a little curious how very cold (or very hot) temps will affect performance

Nest Cam (battery) can operate with temperatures from -4°F to 104F (-20°C - 40°C). For wired installation setups with a Nest Cam (battery), the wires power the camera directly. At temperatures below freezing, the battery won’t charge, but as long as the wired power source is available, the camera can operate in temperatures down to -4°F (-20°C).

Battery life is fine… been using them for weeks and both batteries are still at 70% or better. Video quality and face recognition are excellent.

The battery generally lasts for 7 days after which I have to bring these down to charge . Since these are wireless cameras, would it be recommended to connect them to a cable/adapter and keep it connected to power 24* 7 ? Does best buy sell a longer power cable that can be used?

You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Check this link for more details: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
Meanwhile, you might want to consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included power adapter to keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (Battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (5 meters or 10 meters). Contact your retailer for product inquiry.

I wished it had a wider viewing angle like the arlo Ultra 2. Facial recognition is a cool feature. Subscription service is pretty good. $12 a month for unlimited cameras.

We suggest checking that lights don’t shine into the camera lens, as bright lights can delay or prevent the camera from switching to Night Vision. You can also try to reset Night Vision in the Home app. Go to your camera settings and turn Night Vision off, then turn it back on.

Nice Cam pack for your home security

Easy to install, and the battery is a little bit weak in the cold temperature. But you can always connect the wire to charge it 24/7.
