A flexible, smart, and capable home security camera that delivers excellent video quality and intuitive smart features, with battery life that varies by use case.

The cameras are good! Good quality, but unfortunately battery only lasts about 2.5 weeks with the camera being in the front of our house. Id recommend a wired version if you plan on putting it in a high traffic area. Otherwise theyre good!
Hi there, Alex. We appreciate your feedback on Nest Cam (battery). We hear your concerns about its battery life. You can try adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas, so you can extend the battery life of your camera. Check this link for tips on how to save the battery: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611

Setup was easy and quick to integrate with then Google home app. I will not give a 5 because the Nest App will not support them and google has not yet integrated the two together to make it seamless. The cameras are top notch though and come with everything you need in the box.
Hi there, MattM. We're delighted to hear that you found it easy to set up your Nest Cam (Battery) using the Google Home app. We understand your disappointment regarding the inability to use the Nest app. Our aim was to create a unified experience within the Google Home app, allowing you to control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant.
Here are some benefits you can enjoy by using the Google Home app with your Nest camera: - Automatic security protections, such as Suspicious Activity Detection, 2-Step Verification, and Security Checkup. - Seamless integration of your Google Nest devices and services. For instance, if you have a Nest camera and a Nest Hub, you can simply say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera," and your camera stream will be casted to your display without any additional setup. - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps. - Synchronization of your homes and home members across the Nest and Google Home apps. - If you're interested, you can set up your old Nest cameras on the Google Home app by following the instructions provided in this helpful article: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532
For any other support needs you may have regarding your Google Nest devices, our support team is available to assist you. Feel free to reach out to them using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Pros -
- Easy to setup
- Works out of the box
Cons
- Does NOT work with Nest Home App. You will need Google home app separately for this camera
- Unless you purchase the power cable, the battery pack does not stay on all the time. Only when it detects motion (which is couple of seconds after the motion starts)
Hi razbaba, thanks for sending in your review. I’ve been using Nest for years. Way back to the beginning. It’s always been a solid performer and you get a lot of bang for your buck with the subscription. What I do not like as of the last couple of years is Google doing what Google does best and forcing migration into their app. This camera setup is part of Googles new push to force you the user into using their app. No longer can you use these new cameras with the very good Nest app. I avoided buying these new cameras for the sole purpose of not wanting to use Googles terrible Home app. But my Nest “Legacy” cameras started failing and you can no longer buy them so I really had no other choice if I wanted to continue to use Nest cameras. Other than the terrible Google app, the cameras still work just as good as the legacy cameras. Keep in mind they are all now battery powered, out of the box. And if you want immediate, live video access you are forced to buy an extra power cable for plug in. Classic Google money grab. Operationally wise, it’s still got Nest at its heart so I’ll continue to use them until Google does something totally unacceptable. If you’re reading this Google, fix your terrible app. It’s horrid.
Hi CaptStabbin, thanks for leaving feedback and for being a longtime Nest user. We’re sorry to learn of your disappointment with the functionality of the new Nest Cam (battery) in the Google Home app. The new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. You’ll be able to view both your old and new Nest Cams together in the Home app, and we’re working on bringing the full functionality to the Home app so all your cameras can be controlled and set up in one place.
We're taking your feedback seriously as it helps us better understand our customers’ preferences and needs. And for any of your support needs, our dedicated team is always ready to help you here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Purchase these after my home got broken into ever. Since nobody has even attempted to Google alerts me right away. If there's somebody unknown plus with the inboard facial recognition, it tells me anything. And everything I need to know about who's at my home. I have purchased several more since these. I now have 6 total Google cameras around my property and they work flawlessly. Battery life is great, but you can also add the third party. Solar charger and as long as it's mounted, it'll never die. It'll record continuously great value for the price, and you can't put a price on security.

IL residents waste battery life without familiar face recognition. Convenient that can be charged manually rather that running power. However battery life only 3 weeks if trafficked area without friendly face detection which I assume would save battery life. Picture quality is good though rarely quite high res enough to get license plates of passing Cars

A really good quality pair of cameras that are let down by two things. Continuous recording is only available if they are plugged into power, which defeats the point of a 'wireless' camera. The battery life is not great, either.
Otherwise, the picture quality is excellent and easy to use and install.
Hi hondaboy2001, we value your feedback on Nest Cam (battery), and we're sorry to hear that wired option for continuous recording, and the battery life are below your expectations.
To optimize battery life, Nest cameras offer event video history and will detect and capture important activity so you can focus on the details that need your attention. Also, you can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. That way, you don’t have to charge the battery more often than you should. Connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter for continuous power will keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).
We’re always on the lookout for opportunities to improve our products and services, and your feedback counts. And if there’s anything you’d like to share, or if you need help, you can always visit us at: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Google Nest Cam Battery seems like Beta

Google Nest Cam Battery seems like Beta as there seems to be issues of many kinds.Ibought the 2 pack and can only get 1 going. There seems to be many issues similar to this.I wan't worried about past Nest Cams because i didn't have any.the first Camera went smooth and I like the ease of mounting. No wires gives you many options on location.Make sure to mount higher than you can reach but not so high that you can not get to it to recharge Now the second cam not so much.It is still not setup.I did resets and even made a 2ND Home network out of desperation=NOPE.Going in I read all of the issues but i bet on Google doing updates to fix and improve the experience.I think the other camera options might be a better choice right now.I am hoping Google does do the updates to polish this up a bit.Recommended only if you want to get something to keep it all in the Home Network AND believe Google will step up.
Hi Axememan, thanks for sharing your experience with us. We're sorry to hear that one of your Nest Cam (Battery) isn't working.

The Google Nest Cam is an absolute game-changer for home security! Its sleek design seamlessly blends into my living space while delivering impeccable video quality. The ease of setup and integration into the Google ecosystem is impressive. I love the mobile app, which allows me to check in on my home from anywhere. The two-way audio feature adds an extra layer of convenience and security. Whether it's monitoring my pets or keeping an eye on my front door, the Nest Cam provides peace of mind. The price is reasonable for the value it offers, making it a top-tier choice for anyone prioritizing home security.

I already own 2 Nest IQ Outdoor Cameras which I totally love. Should have done a little more research. The battery cams only work with the Google Home App and not the Nest App which my IQ cameras are on along with my Nest Thermostat. The battery cameras only record when there is some type of activity unlike the Outdoor IQ cameras which record continuously. Yes you can hardwire the battery cameras to get continuous recording which I did but that kind of defeats the battery option. I realize that the battery cameras don't record 24/7 to conserve battery life. The Nest Aware subscription is also different on the battery cameras compared to the Nest IQ Outdoor cameras. If I had it to do all over again I would have got 2 more IQ cameras since I had to hardwire the battery cameras anyway.
Hi Redram, thanks for being an advocate of Google Nest products. We apologize for any disappointment you may be having with the move to the Google Home app, the hardwire requirement to get continuous video recording and with the changes to the Nest Aware subscription.
Our goal was to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired): - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup. - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, ""Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup. - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps. - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.
Continuous video recording drains a lot of power from Nest Cam (Battery), and hardwiring enables you to use this feature without draining the batteries. We´ve made some change to the new Nest Aware subscription plans since you get more value for your money by paying for one subscription only, for all the Google devices in your home structure. You can get more details about the new Nest Aware plan by visiting the Google Store, then look for Nest Services here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9546397

One of the best looking cameras for the price, these two cameras have great sensors and night vision. Very easy to mount and the app is very easy to navigate

Total fail. I have had the wired nest camera for 5 years and I loved the nest aware app. Regardless of any motion event, it was the only cameras that would continuously record. I was excited to replace those two wired cameras with these two battery powered wireless cameras but these aren’t even close to the same product I had before.
For starters, you can’t use the nest aware app with these cameras. When you install them, Nest makes you use the google home app and the app is not user friendly like the nest aware app. Secondly, they don’t allow you to continuously record. As a matter of fact they don’t even record unless you login and click “live video”. But once you close the app the camera goes back to idle mode. To get live video, you have to open the app back up and click live video. And they only record motion events.
Third, to record 3 hours of events, you need to plug in a wire to your wireless camera now making it a wired camera. The whole point was having wireless cameras and now you have to plug in a wire to your wireless camera.
Fourth, the set of two cameras only comes with one wire. Are you serious?!? You have to plug in a wire to your wireless camera to get all the features but you only include one wire to the set of two cameras?!? I would say the person who was in charge of this project was sipping a bit too much on the whisky.
Hi there, thanks for taking the time to let us know your experience with the Nest Cam (Battery), and for being a long time user of Nest. It’s unfortunate to learn that you came across these issues.
Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.
Your camera will go idle if it’s not detecting activity, not streaming video, or if it’s not recording video. It has a local storage fallback that allows it to record videos for up to one hour during an internet outage and also for battery-powered cameras and doorbells, during a power outage.
Nest Cam battery can be extended from Battery mode to Plugged-in mode using the Pogo pin cable, to keep it charged. If you prefer 24/7 video history over event video history, the camera must be connected to a power source to stream video whenever it’s on and saves it all in the cloud.
We value your feedback as we always aim to improve our products and services. Feel free to let us know if there’s anything we can help you with by visiting us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Easy setup and integration into the home app. Like the easy installation on my house. Battery life varies depending on the event settings. the camera in my backyard I have only charged once a month the one over my front yard looking towards the road is every 2 weeks. I am happy with that. GOod picture quality

I added these to my nest outdoor cameras i already had. I dont like the google home app. I wish they would let you use the nest app. However the picture quality is fantastic. Day or night. The sound is ok. Motion detection is set for people only and i do get a lot of false alerts. I am still adjusting but it picks up shadows of cars or trees moving in the wind sometimes as a person. Still, it is great for the money. I have one plugged in and one on battery. Id expect the battery to last probably 60 days before needing to be charged. I plan on running a wire to it, just havent had time yet to drill into the wall. Overall i do recommend this for most applications.

These are easy to install, setup on phone simple, my only complaint/concern is the battery life is significantly less than advertised. Having to climb the ladder every 10 days is not very pleasant.
Hello there, BigR1965. We appreciate your feedback. We’re glad that the setup and installation of your Nest Cam (battery) went easy for you. We understand that having to charge your cameras more often than you should, can be an inconvenience. Check this link for more details: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
Meanwhile, you might want to consider connecting your cameras to a power outlet with the included power adapter for continuous power and to keep the battery charged. Easy setup. Easy to configure to your Google Home account. I'm not overly impressed with the with the way Google home does it's video recording. It's not constant recording and the cameras can miss things.

These are ok, a little disappointed in streaming quality but it gets the job done. Have lots of issues with connectivity, however ease of use and set up is really easy. Battery life on these last forever, almost 3 weeks. No weather or rain guard so when it rains view is obstructed
