Nice cameras, but if you already have a Nest account THE NEW CAMERAS WILL NOT DISPLAY ON THE NEST DASHBARD. They have to be used on the new google app. So, I have half my cameras on the nest app (which is much better) and all of my cameras on the Google app. If you pay for next protect, these will not apply and you will not get the extra features. If I would have known this I would not have purchased these.

Hi there Shaun, thanks for sharing your concern with us and we're sorry to hear about your disappointment with not being able to add the new Nest Cam (Battery) to the Nest app. We can only imagine how frustrating this may have been for you.

However, we wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. For this reason, we made the new generation of Google Nest devices exclusive to the Google Home app. Here are some benefits you get by using the Google Home app:
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. You can use Google Nest smart speakers and displays, or even your phone, to command your Nest Cam (Battery) and other devices.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - If you're willing, you may set up your Nest cameras to the Google Home app. Check out this help article: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

We value your feedback and we'll certainly look into the information that you provided us since we're always looking for ways that will help us improve the products and features we offer. The first couple days the battery died relatively quickly because i'm guessing there were updates or the camera needed to calibrate its battery. Otherwise everything works fine. These cameras actually work relatively well. The only downside to these cameras that I personally observed was that the cables for if you decide to permenantly mount them were not availble till much lattery. Now you can buy them directly from google with good amount of length. I'd definitely recommend these if you are going to hardwire them but battery power maybe a little iffy depending how much traffic there is the battery will last about a month or two. Keep in mind these cameras don't need a centralized hub and they do all the processing internally. Thus the battery life

Hi Atag, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry for the poor battery life with your Nest Cam (Battery).

Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios:
      - Busy - About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
      - Typical - About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
      - Quiet - About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)

If you´re willing to try, we recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your Nest Cam (Battery) and understand what may be causing it. Proof That people will complain about anything

So, most of the hate is the migration from the nest app to the Google home app. Now, i do understand if you dont have the app its kind of annoying to switch if you already have the nest app. But, you can control your nest system from inside the Google home app now, so that beats that portion. Now for the battery life of the cameras. IT IS DEPENDENT ON WEATHER AND USAGE HOW LONG THE BATTERY LASTS. I've gotten more that 3 months on a single charge as we speak at 42% on one camera I have nearly 7 weeks lefts. Now if you use the wire instead then of course its unlimited. Camera quality is great it catches everything and its night vision is spot.

Poor Battery Life, no Nest App support. AVOID

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

These new cams are not better than the older versions (wired, which I have several already mounted in use for my yard). When this battery version came out, the selling point was that it *supposedly* lasts a month on one charge. One of my walls doesnt have access to wired power, so I was thrilled to give this a try. The difference: The new cams have better 4K quality compared to the previous wired outside cams. That is the ONLY pro in my opinions CONS: Camera will not be able to be shown through your existing Nest app, only through the GoogleHome App. further, unless your cam is plugged in an outdoor cable setup, it DOES NOT constantly stream, which is a big difference. So, it only works on motion detect, and you can only see it through the GoogleHome app. Secondly, the battery on average runs out within a week on my. I do not have a busy street but this still drains it at such rate. These are garbage and not ready for prime-time daily use (which the older ones are definitely are). AVOID, unless you want to use these indoors on a constant battery source (which renders the battery as a selling point in the first place!)

Hi ConnectedHomePro, thanks for sharing your experience. It’s unfortunate to learn that Nest Cam (Battery) didn’t meet your expectations

The new Nest Cam (Battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

For the battery life, it will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. horrible software

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Looser product, horrible implementation. The new Google Cams are NOT compatible with Nest and Google Home app wont allow all the functionality of older Nest or dropcams, (eg: activity zones). So, unless you want to use two applications to manage your cameras, anyone who has existing nestcams, google indoor/outdoor or dropcams and considering adding a new google wireless camera should think about going to a different eco-system. Very frustrating as there was no information about this prior to purchase. TO be fair.. Im giving it 2 stars as Im sure the camera itself is great. but id give it sub-stars for compatibility. I mean seriously... why wouldn't google think that perhaps people who bought cameras a whopping year or two ago, wouldn't want to add additional cameras to their system???

    Complete and total failure

Google, one of the largest and richest companies on the planet has completely ruined Nest products. Nest used to be the gold standard. These cameras are a joke. They are not compatible with the Nest app, they are large and heavy, they are weather "resistant" and not weather proof, they are only 1080p resolution (are we living in 2006? Also, why would you decrease the resolution from your previous cameras?), and you can't record 24/7 without plugging it in. This product release is making me lose faith in Google. If they are willing to cut this many corners, I'm going to have to rethink whether I continue to buy other Google products like their Pixel phone.

Hi Jason, thanks for letting us know about your experience with Nest Cam (Battery). We´re sorry to hear about your disappointment with some of the features for Nest Cam (Battery) and the Google Home app.

The battery accounted for the increase in size for the Nest Cam (Battery) that can last about 3 months on a typical user recording of 9-12 events per day. Battery life will still depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select.

Your Nest Cam (Battery) has full HD resolution with HDR video quality that’s optimized for a clear view in bright sun or dark. Keep in mind that it also helps save battery power. We believe that pixel count is only one factor that impacts video quality, and it shouldn’t be the only deciding factor when choosing a camera.

We value your feedback, and if you will allow us, we'd like to help you further by answering any questions or support concerns you may have. Please feel free to reach out to our support team here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

    It's a hot mess

For existing Nest users, skip these cameras. . Not only do they not integrate with your existing Nest app, they don't even capture the movement they're supposed to. For new users... also skip these cameras We got these cameras to monitor our chickens in the backyard. One of the cameras would only pick up the chickens, or us, about half the time (I was watching out the window), and completely missed the big owl that landed on our fence, and sat front and center in view of this camera for about ten minutes. Again, numerous events that could be seen in person and out the window that these motion-detecting cameras did not capture. The only reason I knew something happened is because our chickens started making a ruckus. Because of their abysmal battery life, if the cameras do not choose to detect the motion, you are simply out of luck for seeing what happened, as there is no live footage to review (unlike their wired, pre-Google predecessors). The Google Home app, which you are forced to use, is a hot mess, and far more clunky than the original Nest app. I did love our old cameras under the Nest banner, but any quality that came with those is gone. The quality on these is worse, the ability to navigate what little footage you do capture is worse, and there is no valid reason to purchase these cameras, as the things you may be trying to monitor will simply not be captured, due to faulty sensors. For the record, I purchased these cameras directly through the Google Store. However, it seems they have blocked or removed the ability to leave any reviews there.

Not worth the cost or trouble!!!

If you would like your Nest cameras to work well you will need to purchase Nest Aware. Nest Aware has just had a price increase from $60 to $80 a yr. A $20 increase in one year is ridiculous! You can find much cheaper cameras that work just as well without a subscription service. Google Nest cameras are just basic and you can do better! Also, the cameras are battery powered. So be prepared to charge them every few wks...depending on how much they record. For my home that means getting the ladder out along with an extension cord and the Nest charging cable and repeating this action 3 times! Also, be prepared to receive false alerts over car headlights even when your zone is set up not to pick up certain events. Do you self a favor and look at all options before you buy overpriced Google Nest Cameras. They're not worth the trouble and cost!

I added this camera and already have a Nest IQ Camera. Unfortunately the new camera is not compatible with the Nest app. I now have to use Google Home to view events from the new camera and go over to Nest to see events from the old camera. Additionally, the old camera was able to completely hide the cord which this one cannot, in the event you want a wired connection and not worry about battery life. The night vision also isn't as bright and clear as the Nest IQ Camera.
