Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.As I indicated in my original review, this camera should not be called a Google "Nest" Camera battery. It cannot be accessed from the Google Nest app, only from the Google Home app, while our other Google Nest cameras and doorbells can only be partially accessed from the Google Home app. We now have to use the Google Home app to configure notifications for this camera and the Google Nest app for our other cameras. And this new camera cannot be accessed from the home.nest.com website used for existing Google Nest cameras. Most worrisome, however, is that Google Nest seeks to suppress this information. I have tried to post some of my concerns in the Google Nest Community forum, but Google is now deleting my posts. Google Nest Support tells me they do not know why, and say they are unable to find out why or to get my posts unbanned, and cannot escalate my concern to anyone, and cannot tell me who I can contact.

- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
- Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

Find a different option, these are not good

No matter what you do these cameras don’t continuously record. They only record “events”. Countless times i’ve tried to go back and review camera footage only to find out the app didn’t record it at all and I can’t just rewind and watch everything. There are a lot of situations where you may want to see whats going on around your property at certain times even if no event triggered the camera. I also had to pay extra money for the POWER CABLE. Seriously ridiculous money grab by google. And the app is trash. The nest app was perfect, i got the notifications to my apple watch. I get a blank white screen with these cameras and the google app now when I try to preview an event. Useless garbage that I am now stuck with. I’ll NEVER buy another google product. You have been warned.

The Nest Cam (Battery) is the first battery-powered camera created by Google. Unlike the previous versions of Nest cameras with still images up to 3 hours, the new Nest Cam (Battery) comes with free 3 hour event-based video history. There's no fee to stream full resolution live video and receive basic notifications, as long as your camera is connected to the internet. However, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to record video and receive advanced notifications. With a Nest Aware subscription your video will be saved to the cloud and you’ll get extra features.
Nest Aware is a paid subscription service you can use with your Nest products to help keep you informed about important events at your home. With a Nest Aware subscription, you’ll get 30 days of event video history. Old Nest cams far superior.

I one multiple rental properties and we used the wires Nest cams (older generation ones) until google apparently bought Nest out. We purchased these new cameras and were honestly surprised how much worse they are. First off, quality compared to the old cameras are worse (how does this happen with new tech?). Secondly, the cameras are not continuous in recording and we had an incident where a person broke into our vehicle and there was missing footage for half of the time as if the camera never picked up any “activity.” Also, the google home app is complete garbage compared to the Nest app and we aren’t allowed to connect the new cams to the Nest app. Utterly disappointed- stay away from these.

I didnt buy any other sort of service or anything. they work great for me. Battery life seems like a couple of months. the thing works perfectly

Even worse -- you can not access this camera from a browser. So, you must user the Home app to see this new camera, and if you're like me, you will have to now use TWO APPS to access your Nest devices. (for example, Google Temp sensors do not appear in the Home app, and probably a few other devices I would reckon).

Given that this is a Nest design, I assumed it would be sturdy and robust. Nope! The camera frequently misses activity, hangs itself, quickly runs out of battery (even when it's plugged in) and the recharging takes forever. I've had the unit replaced by Google but these are the same issues. If I had known these flaws are core to its design, I would've stayed with my Wyze cameras and put in an SD card.

They where working fine till a had no internet for several hrs and now my camer are not resetting. I have tried trouble shooting them and cant and now google does not have a customer service number and have to use a online method. What happen to customer service!!!!.

Nest failed on these

I will keep thisbreview short and get to the point. Two pros: easy to install because they are wireless, and the camera resolution is good. The cons: very large in size, doesnt work with original app, and most importantly they do not oick up motion well at all. And when it does pick up motion by miracle , it only alerts you once as it seems to wait a long time to reset becore sending any new alerts. Just awful in my opnion. There were people coming in and out frame for 10 mins and the camera had only alerted me the first time. These were returend and i bought the smaller nest caneras that are wired. Now those work far more superior

Motion detection on Nest Cam (Battery) can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
3. Restart your Camera.
We'd like to help you troubleshoot the motion detection issue further with your Nest Cam (Battery) if none of the steps we provided prove to be helpful. Can’t use camera in Nest app?! R u serious??
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mannn… I’ve been using Nest for 8 years, tried all the popular cameras (Argo, Eufy, Ring, etc), and I always go back to Nest, they just do everything right (just wish they had HomeKit support). Anyways, I’ve been needing a bunch of new cameras for a long time, kept holding off until Google came up with new cameras, they finally did, ordered 6 of these. They are everything I wanted, until I realized I have to use the GOOGLE HOME app, I can’t use the NEST app, what I’ve been using and come accustomed to for years. The NEST app is the sole reason I’ve stuck with Google, they just do it right. But now I can’t use these cameras? Not only am I returning all 6 I bought, but now I’m starting to research other camera options and will replace my current set of cameras. This is the future of the nest eco-system? No thanks :(

Wait to buy! Can't use the Nest App

You HAVE to use the Google Home App and when you do, you can easily review what has been recorded. When you go in to HISTORY to review what has been recorded. When you are on LIVE can ONLY watch what it is currently streaming. Not worth the $150 each (BF Pricing) The GOOD: Easy to install, connect to your wifi and so far the battery life is doing well. Hurry up with the solar panel charger!

Horrible technology. Doesn't support NEST APP

Can not use the NEST app. Have to use Google Home app which is missing a TON of features from the NEST app. You can't set to auto record when you leave home. You can't manage older nest cams (only view) from the google home. Some settings you have to use your phone to change and can't change from a computer browser. Horrible. Worst camera/app technology I've ever had. Nest did it so much better and I loved it. They really need to take the NEST name off these cameras and other devices as you can't even use the much better NEST app to manage them. 2 years later and Google still hasnt figured out how to do it. Not the company they used to be.....so sad.

This is not Nest

The camera picture quality/clarity is not up to par with the older cameras, it’s worse. No one wants to use the Google Home app as it is not easy to use and quite bloated. Google, you can’t get rid of the nest app no matter how hard you passively try. We the consumer PAY a SUBSCRIPTION for QUALITY, NOT Amazon Ring. If I wanted cheap quality I would have purchased Amazon Ring. I am very disappointed and will not be purchasing any more Google products until the quality issues are fixed and assurance that google will stop killing products without notice (The Nest Secure is a good example, also check out the killed by Google website)

Best Buy Suck! Stay away from them!

Once connected the camera would not record or show the videos live. We tried to return them before the return window closed and Best Buy told us we couldn’t return it in stores, even though the email we got said we could return it in stores. Now we spent money on useless cameras that are just sitting there.
