The built-in rechargeable batteries are made for long-lasting battery life and should give you at least 1.5 months if the device is busy(about 20-25 recorded events per day). We understand that long time Nest users, like you, enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays. Connectivity issues may be related to a few factors including the following:
- We recommend checking for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
- Disable the mobile data function on your mobile phone and ensure that its connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Nest Cam (Battery)

We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on bringing full functionality to the Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. Meanwhile, we suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view for cameras set up in the Google Home app.

While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users like you with previous versions of Nest cameras can view your camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

Your camera could be detecting a lot of activities, as the battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. If you have to charge the battery more often than you should, you may consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest camera is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately) that will keep the battery charged.
