Went to charge it and camera wont take a charge. Wasnt great even when it did work... It was unreliable, poor resolution, event history for only 3 hrs, and no recording unless you pay extra for crappy service. Will not buy anything like this again.

On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. There's no fee to stream full resolution live video and receive basic notifications, as long as your camera is connected to the internet. However, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to record video and receive advanced notifications. With a Nest Aware subscription your video will be saved to the cloud and you’ll get extra features. Come to find out the Nest app that I have grown to love is not supported by this camera and you are forced to use the clunky Google Home app. You are very limited in what you can do in Google Home. I am returning the camera. If Google allows us to use the Nest app I will repurchase.

Very disappointed

They where working fine till a had no internet for several hrs and now my camer are not resetting. I have tried trouble shooting them and cant and now google does not have a customer service number and have to use a online method. What happen to customer service!!!!.

I will keep thisbreview short and get to the point. Two pros: easy to install because they are wireless, and the camera resolution is good. The cons: very large in size, doesnt work with original app, and most importantly they do not oick up motion well at all. And when it does pick up motion by miracle , it only alerts you once as it seems to wait a long time to reset becore sending any new alerts. Just awful in my opnion. There were people coming in and out frame for 10 mins and the camera had only alerted me the first time. These were returend and i bought the smaller nest caneras that are wired. Now those work far more superior

Motion detection on Nest Cam (Battery) can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
3. Restart your Camera.
We'd like to help you troubleshoot the motion detection issue further with your Nest Cam (Battery) if none of the steps we provided prove to be helpful. Mostly useless without the Nest Aware subscription at $60/year for a single camera. The Google Home app that this camera is supported by is a kludgy mess compared to the Nest Home app. The Google Home app doesn't support Nest Protect devices so having to switch back and forth between apps is plain ridiculous. Google, seriously???

We also wanted to make it the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, and the Google Assistant. Complete Fail

You are forced to use the google home app which is a cluttered mess and does not function correctly. It takes three times the time to view all your cameras at once as it did the NEST APP. The google app will not hold a steady feed on all cameras especially the new battery camera. The app constantly has to retry and connect to see a live feed. I have also noticed the google home app locks up during those simple tasks. Google just destroyed the one good thing they had going for them and that was NEST and the NEST APP. Only if Apple owned NEST, life would be that more simple. I purchased the doorbell, camera and monitor bundle to only be dissatisfied with all three products. I love my three outdoor NEST cameras as well as the NEST APP and I hoped this purchase would have been a great addition. I am returning all three products and look for alternatives.

- Make sure your Nest Cam (Battery) is within the range of your router.
- Ensure that your network isn't congested to have a stable feed. Connectivity issues may happen if there is not enough bandwidth on the network.

Why call the Nest cameras then? You can only download :Events" through the Home app. But you can clearly see people, movement, and hear audio outside of the event window. But no way to save it makes the cameras useless.

I am only able to access the new camera on a phone or tablet. Forget trying to access anything on a PC or have it stream to TV. The software for accessing the video history is also not compatible with the older cameras. I wish I never would have bought it.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Mannn… I’ve been using Nest for 8 years, tried all the popular cameras (Argo, Eufy, Ring, etc), and I always go back to Nest, they just do everything right (just wish they had HomeKit support). Anyways, I’ve been needing a bunch of new cameras for a long time, kept holding off until Google came up with new cameras, they finally did, ordered 6 of these. They are everything I wanted, until I realized I have to use the GOOGLE HOME app, I can’t use the NEST app, what I’ve been using and come accustomed to for years. The NEST app is the sole reason I’ve stuck with Google, they just do it right. But now I can’t use these cameras? Not only am I returning all 6 I bought, but now I’m starting to research other camera options and will replace my current set of cameras. This is the future of the nest eco-system? No thanks :(

Hours of frustration to no avail

The simplicity of plugging in the Nest Cam, opening up the Google Home app and tap + to add my camera did not work at all. I could not get the Nest Cam to add to my home by tapping the +. Finally, I decided to try turning on my phones location and after connecting with my location, the Google home app suggested that I turn on my Bluetooth. Once I turned on my phones’ Bluetooth, the Nest Cam started the connection process through my Google Home app. It went through all the steps to get the camera active, but then it went to an automatic update. First, was installing updates forever, it felt like, then downloading update, again feeling like forever. This process continued in a loop, with me never getting the Nest Cam to work. This error message appeared, “There may be a problem. Something may have gone wrong during setup. You may have to reset your device”. After resetting my brand new Nest Camera, the same installing and downloading loop started again. When I backed out of updates and tried to go around them, I was taken to the “Finish setup to use this device page”. My only options given were “Remove device or Finish setup”. Neither of them would get my Nest Cam to work.

Wait to buy! Can't use the Nest App

You HAVE to use the Google Home App and when you do, you can easily review what has been recorded. When you go in to HISTORY to review what has been recorded. When you are on LIVE can ONLY watch what it is currently streaming. Not worth the $150 each (BF Pricing) The GOOD: Easy to install, connect to your wifi and so far the battery life is doing well. Hurry up with the solar panel charger!

Google ruined Nest.

Plan fees recently increased without any new features. Even if you pay for 24/7 cloud storage the system will only allow saving of event clips NOT any segment of the 24/7 recording time. IE: If the Google cam didn't create an event then you won't be able to save it. I've found events are missed regularly and the AI for recognizing what it does see is frequently inaccurate. For example every night my sprinklers come on the camera thinks there's a vehicle in my backyard. It really is a ruined system.

I have three nest (OG) and two nest (google) cameras. Google once again had to take something and make it worse. I have zero issues with the original 4+ year old nest cameras. The google cameras are unreliable and don’t work 80% especially when I need them to work. My original nest cameras are twice as far from the modem and never drop out. Also, it’s irritating when you get a notification from the google nest and you can’t view it sometimes for another hour. That’s not security, that’s anxiety…. Use your money elsewhere as I’m going to do.

Horrible technology. Doesn't support NEST APP

Can not use the NEST app. Have to use Google Home app which is missing a TON of features from the NEST app. You can't set to auto record when you leave home. You can't manage older nest cams (only view) from the google home. Some settings you have to use your phone to change and can't change from a computer browser. Horrible. Worst camera/app technology I've ever had. Nest did it so much better and I loved it. They really need to take the NEST name off these cameras and other devices as you can't even use the much better NEST app to manage them. 2 years later and Google still hasnt figured out how to do it. Not the company they used to be.....so sad.

Best Buy Suck! Stay away from them!

Once connected the camera would not record or show the videos live. We tried to return them before the return window closed and Best Buy told us we couldn’t return it in stores, even though the email we got said we could return it in stores. Now we spent money on useless cameras that are just sitting there.

The camera picture quality/clarity is not up to par with the older cameras, it’s worse. No one wants to use the Google Home app as it is not easy to use and quite bloated. Google, you can’t get rid of the nest app no matter how hard you passively try. We the consumer PAY a SUBSCRIPTION for QUALITY, NOT Amazon Ring. If I wanted cheap quality I would have purchased Amazon Ring. I am very disappointed and will not be purchasing any more Google products until the quality issues are fixed and assurance that google will stop killing products without notice (The Nest Secure is a good example, also check out the killed by Google website)
