The cameras are great if you get a working set. I bought the 2 pack and 1 failed to work after a day and a half of running. I went back to store to exchange the nonworking camera and was told they couldn't trouble shoot the camera and would just replace it but i needed both camera. So had to go home and remove and uninstall the other camera and get a completely new 2 pack of cameras. So far they are both working just fine.

After over a year with Apple HomeKit cameras that were constantly offline and not working, these Google Nest cams are exceeding all expectations. The thread and matter connectivity keep these always connected and I even replaced my doorbell to the Google nest doorbell after two weeks with these cameras. Easy to mount. Picture is clear, recordings are excellent and notifications are accurate with Face recognition, package recognition, etc. Highly recommend!!!

    Battery doesn't last long

The battery doesn't last long. I ended up purchasing 2 wires for the camera, which defeted the whole purpose of it being battery operated. At night it shows black and white instead of in color like my first nest cameras. Also, the cameras only show and work on the google home app instead of the nest app. Instead of clicking on the google home app and automatically seeing the footage, you have to click on the app, then click the "camera" icon to see the footage. The camera is on "idle" mode (if its running on battery), so then you also have to click on "live" mode to see the live footage. Customer service says that once I plug the cameras in, it will show the live footage automatically.

Hi Amanda, thanks for trying out the Nest Cam (Battery). We do apologize for any disappointment you may be having with some of the features including the battery life, night vision and the Google Home app.

We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, """"Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

Also, the information you got from our support team is correct. Nest Cam (battery) can accommodate up to 10 days of continuous video recording (CVR) and 24/7 video history if hardwired to power and subscribed to Nest Aware Plus ($12 a month for all of your cameras, speakers, and displays on the same home structure).

We'll make sure to pass along the details of your feedback to our product team and see how we can improve our products and services further. For any other support needs you may be having, please do not hesitate to contact our support team here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Where to start… 1. Camera can only be viewed in the Google home app. Very inconvenient if you are already a Nest user. 2. Camera is not capable of constantly streaming video. What this means is, when you pull up your cameras you only see a black screen with the word Idle on the top left and a button for live feed. Sure, you’d expect this to be the case for a battery operated device to conserve charge. But, what if it’s constantly plugged in? This leads to my third point. 3. I bought the weatherproof cable to have the camera plugged in and not worry about battery life. Here’s the catch, while the device is mounted to the magnetic mount, it will not charge. Furthermore, if you find a nifty way to hold the camera in place without the mount, you won’t be able to see the video until you place the device back on the magnetic mount AND unplug the power. WHY WOULD YOU EVEN OFFER A CABLE OPTION THEN? The camera itself is easy to configure, like any previous Nest device. But unfortunately the functionality is not there. Google should just rehire the original Nest team so they can produce great products.

Hi there bengtglave, thanks for choosing Nest Cam (Battery) and sharing some insights. We´re sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with the Google Home app.

The new Nest Cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. If you already have some Nest cameras installed in your home, you may transfer them to the Google Home app. Check out this help article for more information: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

We'd like to learn more about the charging issue with your weatherproof cable when the camera is mounted to the magnetic plate, and understand the reason why it isn't charging. Please reach out to our support team here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I bought the 2 cameras as open box in excellent condition. I may be biased but this is the best camera out there. I got the wired so I could have 24/7 recording (w/ nest plus for a cost but so worth it) granted going to google home is little more cumbersome that the best app but overall I will recommend this to anyone looking for cameras to monitor their property.

The Google Nest Camera has exceeded my expectations. It was simple to set up, and the video quality is excellent, even at night. The alerts are accurate, distinguishing between people and other movements. The integration with Google Assistant is seamless, making it easy to check the camera feed on my Nest Hub. Overall, it’s a reliable security camera that’s both user-friendly and effective.

We love the distance it has and recording day and night. Only reason not 5 stars is the battery length Deteriorates when you leave them outside in the cold temperatures.

Hi there, EricC. We’re glad that you love the recording feature of the Nest Cam (battery). We hear your concern about the battery charging behavior during cold weather. At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the battery can still power your device, but it won’t charge. It may also drain more quickly than usual. At temperatures close to -4°F (-20°C), your battery may have less than half the life that it has in warm weather. The camera will continue to work, but the battery will drain because it can’t be charged. You need to bring it inside to a warm place, preferably at room temperature so the battery can start to charge slowly once its temperature rises past 32°F (0°C). It will charge faster when it warms up.

Can place this guy anywhere that can receive a WiFi signal. I have it installed on a cedar tree in backyard facing the backyard sidewalk area. Put a black silicone cover on the camera so it blended in better to the environment. Works great! Very clear picture. Battery life is about a month depending on usage. Nice battery icon always displayed so you can see remaining battery life.

Is my mother and father own a business. That business has been the life blood of my family for over thirty years now. As time has gone on, I have learned a lesson that even though I'm not there in the physical sense. I can't be there helping watch over my family and our future investment. With that said, as age comes and my mother and father are getting older. They need extra set of eyes and I feel like i'd become those extra set of eyes thanks to them.

I was hesitant with having to use 2 different apps to access my Nest thermostat and door bell after reading a few older reviews. To my surprised when this was installed today, they're all there! I do like the Nest app a little better since I can open the app and it shows my front door but Google Home is functional with all of the products I am using. Geek Squad did the install and Jake was great. I did learn that they can't install through walls so I had to change where the cameras would be mounted. I'll be installing another one of these after I boost signal strength towards the back of the house.

I set this camera up in 12/2021 and it had been working fine since then. I mean, I live in an area where let's of wild animals cross my porch, and this camera has never been able to determine that they're animals and not record an event...but I was still happy with it. This month, I'm noticing an issue. This camera will go full days without recording an event (my settings have not changed); it will miss me exiting/entering my home, miss the post office and goodness knows what else. Today, I realized that the night vision is not night visioning...the picture is super dark and not even restarting it helps. In daylight, the picture looks fuzzy. I've attached before and after shots with and without night vision. I'm going to see what I can do to fix it, but I doubt this camera will last another year.

Hi there, AOkaaay. We’re sorry to hear that you’re having issues with the Nest Camera (battery). This is not the kind of experience we want you to share with you.

The event detection feature depends on the camera settings that you select. You can choose which events your doorbell can detect and record (people, motion, package, etc.). You can change the settings like adjusting video quality, wake-up sensitivity, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas.

For the night vision, try to angle your camera away from bright lights, or to install the camera in a shady spot. You should also make sure that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view, since the camera’s infrared light can reflect off a surface. Other tips on how to improve the night vision feature can be found here:: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9259738
