The product itself is excellent. However, it was not clear that it was not sole what we neede and is indoor/outdoor. Even the tech guy misguided us. IMO it’s the manufacturers packaging description that was not clear for non-tech people.

I have several Google-Nest cameras, both indoor and outdoor. They are all very easy to install and link to your internet. Google has changed a number of things on this new generation camera. Some good and some bad. First, all their outdoor cameras are now battery powered; you can add a power cable (extra cost) that the older version came with. These cameras are no longer part of the Nest ecosystem so you must download the Google Home app to view the camera. I prefer the Nest app but it seems Google has abandon it in favor of their own. This camera will deliver very clear pictures both in daylight and at night. Motion detection is excellent.

The cameras install easy, are easy to contact to wfi, and have good coverage. The battery life, so far, is less than I expected but may improve as I get the zones better calibrated.

I switched from an older Arlo camera to this new Next Cam Battery and it really wasn't an upgrade. The nest cam itself is pretty huge, far bigger the my arlo, so you would think the battery life would be better. But it isn't. So far it is dropping about 1% a day, which while that sounds ok, the Arlo is so much better. Then there are the notifications or lack of notifications I should say. With the Arlo I never missed anything it isn't field of view, the nest seems far, far less sensative and no amount of changing the settings has improved this. The real kicker seeing how this is a google product is that is doesnt' stream to other google products. The Arlo would show on my google TV when I asked google to show it, but this Google Nest camera can't do that. Overall this was not an upgrade from a 4-year-old Arlo camera. Arlo had better notifications, better battery and better integration with other google products.

So it works, but the fact that you have to take it down and charge it and then put it back up requires a ladder and time and then repositioning. Granted we could have mounted it a little lower, but we are interested in the hardwired version for the future.

Wish I could return but took too much time to get it setup after purchasing. Buyer beware - not compatable with the Nest App. I shoulda done my research before just assuming that this would connect with my other Nest cameras but I didnt. Google Home app is terrible for video monitoring! Not only can I not see this camera where my other camera feeds are, it only shows event activity when reviewing video, doesnt alert you to a low battery, doesn't wake up fast enough to record an event which knocked the camera down even though an animal walked in front of it several hours later, and doesnt allow zoning. What a waste of money.

Aesthetically: much bigger than wired counterparts & color options missing Function: works well and has auto switching low and normal light, but no in-depth options like my other hub camera system, with regards to sensitivity, light indicator options, or with cheap generic cams from over 5 years ago that offer all those options with similar quality and selectable windows for motion and tons of other options so long as you use software that is the color of the sky and a part of your eye. Dirty: You will not be able to record to external drives, and it is an impossible task right now to connect to Nest Hub for video calls. Recording is limited without subscription to Nest Aware. I would not buy again If you're remotely tech savvy, get an old PC and buy security cam software and 3rd party cams, which are better and not limited by design.

So far I'm happy .... replaced another brand cameras with this because I initially wanted to go with something wired. After looking at many, decided to try the Nest Battery Camera. Haven't had it long enough to comment on battery life. It is easy (and fast) to charge, and has great video quality. Especially easy to monitor from the Google Home app which I was already using for my Nest Thermostat.

Good camera. Not so good night quality 7/10 here. Change lasts a while depending how often the camera sees something. The more it sees something the more battery it uses. Try to keep out of direct sun and rain too. Really easy to use on the smart phone

Hello there, Tucett. Thanks for sharing your experience with Nest Cam (battery). We’re sorry to hear of your issues with the event detection and recording features. We suggest checking each of the camera settings so you can choose which events your cameras can detect and record (people, motion, package, etc.). From there, you (and each member of your home) can decide which of those events to get notifications for. If an event is turned off, you won’t get notifications for that kind of activity. Using activity zones to monitor specific areas can also help.

We can also check if there’s anything that causes your cameras to behave differently, and we welcome you to contact us anytime here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Overall great security camera! I would definitely recommend getting the long power cable so you can hardwire it in though. Otherwise it goes into sleep mode to preserve battery and then is completely reliant on the motion sensor which is not always sensitive enough to pick up motion.

We originally wanted 2 cameras but since there was a sale for 3 we spent a little extra. 2 are mounted outdoors and we kept the other 1 indoor to monitor the dog when we leave her alone. If she starts to bark or howl due to loneliness, we can talk to her on our phone app which gives her reassurance. The cameras are very clear on our phone app and we can also hear very well. It's a great product that took little installation.
