Today there are a large variety of security cameras available on the market and it is nice to finally see Google refreshing their cameras to be more on par with their competitors. I definitely feel this refresh puts this camera in line with competitors. Firstly, the aesthetics are a major part of any security camera as it is something visible to everyone. With the nest camera I feel that Google really gave the product more of a modern look. It is not all about the look though as the mounting was extremely easy and the magnetic base is so much nicer than having to mess with screws every time the camera needs charged. The actual function is the other major component where it is not all positive unfortunately. I personally do like how the camera utilizes the Google home app as I am someone entrenched in the Google ecosystem so having the separate nest app has always been a pain. Then when it comes to the actual video quality it is exactly what you would expect from a 1080p camera to which I would rather have the decreased resolution as opposed to having to charge the battery every month if it were 4K quality. The microphone was exceptional though as I was pleasantly surprised with how clear it picked up sounds. As mentioned, the live feed within the app worked perfect along with the video detection. However, the one item that does come across as a negative for me is only 3 hours of previously saved video as I understand Google is attempting you get you to upgrade to a higher subscription, but 3 hours is not even enough to make it through the night. Overall, this is a great product as the asthetics are top notch with the magnetic mount being an exceptional feature and the usability of the app along with the video and microphone quality being wonderful. However, it seems we will have to continue to wait for the perfect security camera as I just can’t give this product five stars with the high price of the initial product that essentially requires an additional monthly subscription to make it fully achieve its intended purpose. Even if the saved playback was just 12 hours for the free subscription I would not hesitate to recommend this product to everyone, but as it currently sits I would still recommend it to the vast majority of people with the caveat of possibly needing to purchase the nest subscription to which this is the case with basically every security camera today unfortunately.

Nest cam is the best for security wireless or batteries cam runs out so fast for some reason every 2 days needs to be recharged again for 24 hours, real pain when u have 6 cams and keep charging

Excellent clarity and definition. The camera was easy to set up and control.

This was super easy to set up. I put it off thinking I would need to drill holes and mount it but I was wrong. The magnets are very strong and the battery lasts for a month or more depending on how often you use it. The magnet on the base holds very firmly to any metal and the camera attaches to the base with magnets as well and you can position it however you need it. It charges very quickly and lasts a long time.

Easy to set up, mount, and get running but having to recharge every 10 days

Good camera overall. I would expect better video quality in 2021 for this price. Battery life is too short as well. In the end I bought 3 and need them so worth it.

It a good camera. Not as good as the old nest cameras but still decent for most people. The only downside is you have to use the god awful atrocious Google Home app. Get a bridge to use the Home app.

Does what you need. Itergrates with the google home app. But if its inside with moderate traffic battery does last long.

These cameras are great! I own about 6 of them. The picture is super clear and the mic can pick up sounds or talking from a good distance. The magnetic mount offers the ability to position perfectly.

I wanted to love these SO SO badly. We need more legit battery-operated cameras in the market. We are a Google Home home, and have lots of Google products that we love and use every day, but it's as if these were released incomplete. They are crazy heavy, the battery is terrible, and we had such poor interference with our ceiling-mounted LED lights, that the video would be nearly obscured with black stripes. We went through Google to get replacements, which we'll try out, but are not hopeful.

These cameras are like no other ive used before. The clarity is amazing and i love the fact that i can hear and speak out of all of them! Night vision on them is clear and just as good at day light. The battery lasts forever! Overall super pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend. Installation was a breeze.

I don’t understand all the poor reviews. I just moved into my new house and went from Ring to Nest. I bought these battery cameras because where i wanted my cameras there was no power source anywhere near it. They work great and ive had no issues at all. The battery life is not an issue unless your trying to record 24/7. If you do motion only and create a zone and pick people and vehicles it will last for a month or 2 before needing a charge.

So far so good and keeps our building safe. We have a peace of mind
