I recently purchased the Google Nest Cam 2-Pack for indoor and outdoor use, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the performance. The cameras are incredibly easy to set up, and the wire-free design gives you flexibility for placement. The video quality is sharp and clear, even at night, and the motion detection is highly accurate. The mobile app makes it super convenient to monitor my home in real-time, and the alerts are quick and reliable. This purchase has brought me peace of mind and added security to my home. Highly recommend it! Best Buy Protection Plan Review Adding the Best Buy Protection Plan was a smart decision. It provides great coverage for up to 24 months and gives me peace of mind knowing my investment is protected. The plan is easy to understand, and Best Buy’s support team is always responsive. I feel confident that if anything goes wrong, it will be taken care of quickly. It’s worth every penny!

    NEEDS NEST INTEGRATION

I install these products as a profession, I currently have 2 Outdoor IQ, 1 Indoor IQ and 1 Nest hello(not the new google branded) not to count the other various hubs/google minis I have in my home. This camera I purchased for my own personal use to become more familiar with so I can speak to its features and specs. Just like EVERYONE else the issue is the fact that when you go to the nest app to scan the QR code it gives you the "you need to add this to the google home app". Once you have it added the functionality and the layout of the features is not easy and user friendly like they are on the nest app. You cannot see your cameras feed in the google app unless you select said camera which is why I do not use the GHOME app for my previous cameras. The fact you cannot see this camera in the nest app either is a huge turn off on selling this especially to anyone who has one of your previous gen cameras. I know I will receive the same answer of " Our teams are working on enabling the ability to setup and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices. We’re also working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices." THIS IS NOT WHAT YOUR CUSTOMERS ARE ASKING FOR! Its great you are integrating everything to the google home app. I am not disagreeing with this either, go ahead and do the above. You need to let this camera integrate to the nest app in the meantime as well. Otherwise your reviews are going to keep going down the drain on this, which seems like a fairly important factor and considering its only a 2 and a half star on BestBuy after only launching for less than a month is concerning am I wrong?

Hi there Mkocerha, thanks for giving us a review about the Nest Cam (Battery) and the Google Home app. We’re sorry to learn of your poor experience with using the camera in the lack of integration with the Nest App. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us better understand our customers’ preferences and needs. The install is pretty simple, just follow the instructions and have your Google Home application ready to go on your phone. Phone. If you're doing this, you probably already have smart devices, so you probably already have Google Home setup. If not, don't panic, Google Home is not that difficult to set up. Now the nest cams, whether they're wired or battery are designed for surveillance but not necessarily recording as much as we would like. Google has not quite gotten this correctly yet. Because this is a security application, you will want to opt for the Google aware premium program which is about $100 a year. Just fork it out and forget about it. This will allow you to at least view your videos going back several days and the events are what you're looking for. These are things you set up and you can ask for things like show me what animals are there or show me if there are people there. Things like that. Facial recognition is fine. But if you want to download, you're going to have to go through a lot to get things downloaded. Google did not provide a seamless application for this. See all of your cameras at once on any browser by typing. Home.google.com with your Google ID and password. You will see all the video cams up at once, if you have multiple. This is the live view only, you cannot see recorded events which is unfortunate. Another Google shortfall. When Google can give us the ability to download videos to our hard drive or cloud drive that would be really cool. When they do, this will go up to five stars. Until then, Google has some homework to do. Oh, and the nest program is probably not going to be there much longer. It seems to be devoted primarily to thermostats and things like that. It doesn't work for other smart appliances. Google needs an all-in-one app and that's going to be Google Home, I would bet. Google, do your homework, get your apps working together, and give the consumer anything that you can think they would want, like the idea of downloading videos so that we can look at things in detail if we have to. Don't make me have to fight for it with other technologies. Oh, and you cannot see these cameras at all on a Google Android TV at all. It's physically impossible. You can only see it on the Google Home app, or on one of the Google nest screens that you can buy for $100 or so. Google needs to fix that too. Everybody wants to see their video cameras on their TV without any hassle. So come on Google, go for the five-star rating.

Hi there, ThomasFairmontWV. We appreciate your review on Nest Cam (Battery). We're sorry to hear that both the Nest Aware subscription and the Google Home features didn't meet your expectations.

Keep in mind that your doorbell can only save up to 3 hours of video recording before it expires and is deleted. This recording limitation can be extended when you get an active Nest Aware subscription that includes 30 days of Video History, 24/7 continuous recording, access to clips, time lapses and even customizing your own activity zones. You won't ever have to worry about missing any events as these videos and clips are all saved onto the Cloud. All these features can be viewed and controlled at the tip of your fingertips using the Google Home App. You can learn more about what you get with the Nest Aware subscription here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9233159

We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - If you're having older Nest cameras then you may set them up with the Google Home app. Check out this help article to learn more: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

We appreciate the features that you would like to have on both the Google Home app and Nest Aware subscription. We've taken this information into consideration and we'll make sure this is shared with our product team as well. In the meantime, we hope you will visit our blog site for the latest news on our product and feature releases here: https://blog.google/

The indoor/outdoor Google cameras were surprisingly simple to install and set up (the setup really is the easy part, though). Installing was a breeze (and this is coming from a guy who can't hang a picture straight). The quality of the picture is excellent, and its battery life is also very good. It's been over a week, and they haven't even burned 25% battery life yet. You can get a better deal if you buy the two-pack, though sometimes you can get a better deal on a single camera if they have a sale going.

Good outdoor camera with limited battery life, especially if a lot of activity occurs. Put one of the two in the material storage section of my construction business yard. The other went over a mechanic’s bay with much more activity. I’ve already charged the mechanic’s bay camera two times in two weeks. The other camera states a two month battery life based on activity. Solid in all other aspects, great picture, great features, etc. I wish Google’s system allowed a scheduled on/off feature, and it may, I’m no tech wizard; but it seems you cannot schedule a home/away that’s not tied to a certain person or account’s geographic location.

Hey there, SoTexRoofer! Thanks for sharing your feedback on the Nest Cam (battery). We hear your concerns about its battery life, and with the on/off functionality.

The battery life depends on several factors including activity frequency, temperature, and the camera settings you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Check this link for tips on how to save the battery: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611

Having the ability to schedule your camera to turn on and off at specific times, regardless of whether someone’s home or not, can be a great addition to its features. We’d be happy to share this with the right team for future improvements. If you run into any other concerns about the camera, please don’t hesitate to let us know here and we’ll gladly help you: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Love these. Been using them for a few months now so I’m able to give it a pretty fair assessment. The system is user friendly. You can set it so you can be alerted anytime someone passes by. Additionally, you can view footage anywhere. A con I would say is that unless you can a paid membership, you won’t be able to view footage from 12 hours ago. I think it’s useful to be able to do that.

Good day, Kate! We’re glad that you love the Nest Cam (battery) along with its features and functionality. We understand that having the ability to view footage from the past (more than three hours) can be ideal for you.

As we're always evaluating and refining our products based on customer’s feedback and industry trends, we’ve included three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. There's no fee to stream full resolution live video, receive notifications, and view video history for up to three hours in the past, as long as your camera is connected to the internet. However, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to receive advanced features. Learn more what you can get with the Nest Aware subscription here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9233159

Overall the video quality is okay and they are fairly discrete making them a decent option for home security. The only thing I do not like about the battery powered nest cameras is that you cannot get 24/7 surveillance even if you have them plugged in full time, they record only when they detect motion, vehicles, people, or animals (depending on what you set them to detect). Recommended for people who don’t need 24/7 surveillance.

First time buying security cameras, and these are my impressions: 1) super easy to set up and installation is fast and easy if you’re familiar with Google home already. 2) video quality is good for all the features that includes for a reasonable price. Nest aware plan starts at $6. Face detection is amazing. 3) cameras can be adjusted to your preference. Which means it will covered the area of your choice and get notifications of that specific zone already selected. Overall I’m just waiting for the cameras battery life. But So far they’re holding fine.

The installation was done by the GeekSquad team. It required some time and effort to install in the beginning. It was connected to the google home app but can not connect to the nest app. One of the cameras was not transmitting images correctly, so I had to replace both, and this also did not solve the issue. I had to get a third-party repair person from BestBuy who came to fix the problem. The camera quality is good. I think battery consumption is, more especially in winter, so it will need charging at 3-4 weeks.

Very good battery life and video quality, Only downfall is footage is only saved for 3 hours. So if you dont go save it within then, its just gone forever, and if something happens overnight, by the time you wake up the footage has deleted it self. I understand it being optimized for performance but 3 hours is far too short and should be fixed

A major step down from the Nest IQ...

These cameras are really just "ok." Their main advantage is the easy installation/setup and their native integration into the Google Home app. I bought these cameras to supplement my Google Nest IQ cameras and Nest Hello that I bought a few years ago, and these are a major step down in terms of quality. The picture is not that great, especially while on battery power. They are battery operated with the option of upgrading to power with the purchase of an additional cord (not included). If you run them off the battery, you will not be able to see a live view unless you turn the camera on. On battery, they only capture and record triggers-- which, if that is what you want and you are not already committed to Nest, there are much better options out there (like the eufyCam 2 Pro which come with a 365-day battery vs the 2 months of Battery Nest Cam). NOTE: If you are already a Nest user like me, you should know that these cameras do not work with the Nest app. They can only be viewed/installed in the Google Home app or on your Google Hub device. You will be able to see all of your Nest cameras in the Home app, but not vice versa.

    Good Battery Powered Cameras

The battery cameras were easy to install in brick walls and have good quality. I have multiple Google Home Hubs in various rooms and the Nest Hub Max in the kitchen. It's easy to ask Google to show me the cameras and see the one I want displayed on the hub. I was a little bugged the camera two pack only came with one charging cable. Why sell two cameras and only provide one cable? I had to charge one camera before I could charge the second. It mentions that only one cable is included on the box, but still dumb in my opinion. It wasn't a deal breaker, but the need to migrate my Nest account to Google was a negative for me. I liked the ability to look at my cameras on a web browser on a larger computer monitor. I also don't like that I have some cameras now that I can use on my Google Home app and cameras that I need to use the Nest app for unless I want to reset those and set them up again. One other issue I have is that I can't share my camera feeds with say my parents that like to watch my kids out in the yard since we don't live close. This process was easy to do with Nest. With Google, I can share my cameras, but I have to grant full access to my account to anyone I want to share with. The last thing I need is someone messing around with my settings because they now have full access. Please fix this by using what you already had working in the Nest App. I don't understand how Google's app didn't at least have all of the functionality of the Nest app before forcing us to move there. I don't hate the Google app and use it often with all of my compatible smart devices. However, I think the app could already be better since their Nest option had some of these features people like me want, but did not get moved over (at least yet). Negative comments aside, I do like the cameras and they serve their purpose. I currently have four of these cameras in place around my home. I purchased two, liked them, then bought two more while still on sale. After setting all four up two weeks ago, the average remaining battery life for the four is 70%.

I’ve read a lot of reviews I’ve these cameras since I purchased them. I wanted to take time and test for myself for several months before coming up with my own opinion. If you use these wired, these cameras are GREAT! Not perfect but they are solid and the service works well. Google needs to do a lot to update their Google home app but I’m not going to demote these cameras because of the app, that’s what the AppStore feedback is for. Alerting works well and quickly it face recognition with these cameras are not always accurate. An example would be the cameras kept flagging one of my kids as our neighbor and they look nothing alike! As a stand alone battery camera, they are not that great. I spent a lot of time tweaking the camera settings, motion sensitivity and everything else in between and there were just a lot of inconsistencies. I tested with myself and the kiddos walking and running around the yard and sometimes it would see them, but most often I would get any hits. I also noticed it would capture an event unless you were with 12 feet, regardless of the sensitivity adjustments. I was really disappointed by this as I really wanted to use battery mode for the backyard and wired cameras for the front. Hopefully the next gen cameras solve this problem. So for me, as camera, YES! Battery camera, no to meh, at your own risk.
