We understand that long time Nest users, like you, enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays. Connectivity issues may be related to a few factors including the following:
- We recommend checking for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
- Disable the mobile data function on your mobile phone and ensure that its connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Nest Cam (Battery)

Hi there, RamG. Thanks for leaving feedback about the Nest cam (battery). It’s unfortunate to hear you ran into this issue with its video quality. A black and white picture during daytime typically means that Night Vision is set to “Always On”. Try to change the Night Vision setting to “Auto”. Change the angle or position of your camera so the sun never shines directly on the lens. For example, angle your camera slightly downward or give it some shade to protect its lens from direct sunlight. Move nearby objects that may reflect the sunlight, if possible.

Hello there, TracieK. Thank you for sharing your concerns about Nest Cam (battery). We're sorry to hear that you're experiencing some battery issues when the temperature gets low. The lithium-ion battery in your Nest Cam (battery) won't be able to charge if the temperatures are below freezing. Lithium-ion batteries are used for their high power and long life, but are also affected by temperatures below freezing. We recommend the following minimum temperatures for your device:

- Minimum operating temperature: -20 °C (-4 °F)
- Minimum charging temperature: 0 °C (32 °F)

We understand that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on bringing full functionality to the Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users like you with previous versions of Nest cameras can view your camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

Your camera could be detecting a lot of activities, as the battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. If you have to charge the battery more often than you should, you may consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest camera is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately) that will keep the battery charged.
