We’re focused on giving our customers value for the price, including three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. There's no fee to stream full resolution live video and receive basic notifications, as long as your camera is connected to the internet. However, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to receive advanced notifications. With a Nest Aware subscription your video will be saved to the cloud and you’ll get extra features. That's where the good ends. The Google Home app holds these cameras back and can't even compare to the Nest app. The app was nowhere ready for this launch and Google made a huge mistake forcing the use of the Home app. On another note, if you wire one of these up for 24/7 video and you're expecting continuous scrubbing like in the Nest app, you'll be very disappointed.

Big downgrade from old Nest cam

The new app is very difficult to use, and you can’t leverage the original nest app which was much better. I’m hoping google does not sunset the old app. The recording starts way to late and cuts out early, and many clips have a weird white flash at the beginning of the recording. Image quality is worse than original camera as well. I’m returning the camera and scooping up the old one while they are still in stock at some stores.

It could be little challenging setup for non technical person but these days YouTube can help you with anything.

The camera has a very difficult time catching anything. I've even adjust the sensitivity to high and it still only starts to record after the person has walked up/past the camera. My older Arlo system is much better.

Your camera runs algorithms to process video and audio data so it can determine whether it detected something you might want to know about. If you only need your camera to detect people, animals, or moving vehicles, we recommend that you do not turn on the basic motion and sound detection feature. You might have to move your camera, change your camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity and choose which events your camera or doorbell can detect and record (people, motion, package etc.).
