Quality camera. The battery last quite long and you can purchase a plug or solar power panel to keep it charged. I don’t care for the Home app. I prefer the older Nest platform.

Hello there, EricN. We appreciate that you like the Nest Cam (battery). We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

A good product, but I wish Google had not purchased Nest. Setup was very easy and straightforward but the new devices can only be viewed in the Google home app and not in the nest app which is a disappointment. Quality is as expected though.

Hey there, TimB. We hear your concerns regarding battery life on the Nest Cam (Battery). Here are some solutions to make sure your device is running smoothly: On average here’s how long the battery will last on a single charge: Busy - About 1 month battery life (about 25 - 30 recorded events per day) Typical - About 2.5 months battery life (about 13 - 16 recorded events per day) Quiet - About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day) Here are a few tips to conserve battery: 1. Optimize its video quality. 2. Shorten the length of time for which events are recorded. 3. Take longer to begin recording between events. While I've been a longtime Nest user and have always been satisfied with the product line, this is a dud. Not integrating with the Nest App feels like a big miss (the Google Home UI is poor), the resolution quality is incredibly grainy and pixelated relative to the competition and the connectivity is always very touchy (while all other nest devices on the same network are bulletproof). On top of that is a price point that's nearly 3X the competition, while delivering a sub-par product. Not sure where Google lost their way here, this one is a disapointment.

Hi Mark, thanks for sharing your experience with us. We´re sorry to hear of your disappointment with the Google Home app, poor resolution and connectivity issue with your Nest Cam (Battery).

Our goal is to make the Google Home app the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, """"Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

Here are some recommended steps below that you can try out to see if it might be helpful with the connectivity issue:
      - Check your Wi-Fi network for possible congestion. Relieving some of your connected devices may help free up some bandwidth space.
      - Check the distance between Nest Cam (Battery) and your router. Ensure that it's within a line of sight from your router.
      - Check for wireless interference with other Wi-Fi hotspots or appliances and devices nearby.

We believe that Pixel count is only one factor that impacts video quality, and it shouldn’t be the only deciding factor when choosing a camera. Nest Cam (Battery) has HDR video quality that’s optimized to save battery, while giving you a clear view in bright sun or dark. For any other concerns you may have about Nest Cam (Battery), you´re always welcome to contact our support team using this link:  https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

    Nest continues to disappoint

I am not impressed with these cameras, and very annoyed that my older cams work better on the Nest app and these newer cameras only work on the Google Home app. I don't care which app I use, but at least make one app fully functional with all generations of cameras. I mean isn't Google supposed to be better than that? As for the cameras themselves, they constantly disconnect and reconnect, freeze, or are unavailable. I have a very expensive and powerful mesh gaming router with extenders, a high-end modem, and 1000Gps internet. There is no reason they should have such a poor signal. Lastly, the batteries are a joke even with light traffic. They claim a couple of months, I barely get a week out of them which forced me to buy and run a cable where I didn't want to. I have 11 nest devices in my home including cams, doorbell cams, thermostats, and door locks, and I have been unimpressed with all of them. If I wasn't so deep into Nest I would not have purchased these cams. But I am, so I did, and I continue to be disappointed. Only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is because they are much cheaper than their predecessors. I do not recommend!

I'm so disappointed to see Google phasing out the nest app. I bought this new battery camera, it works great don’t get me wrong. But the google home app is nothing compared to the Nest app. If you have an older nest cam you have to go back and forth between the apps to view the camera history. The google home app tracks my location all the time so it’s hard on my phone battery, and my phone will be warm when I pick it up. The Nest app is so fast and snappy. So much more user friendly. I’m returning this new “Nest cam” and changing brands.
