Hi there Coolmom, thanks for choosing our Google Nest products. We're glad to hear that Nest Cam (Battery) has been great for you. We're sorry to hear that the battery and the exclusivity of the Google Home app for the new generation of Nest cameras fell short of meeting your expectations.

We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, """"Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - If you're willing, you may set up your Nest cameras to the Google Home app. Check out this help article: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. Users can extend the battery life of their camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios for your Nest Cam (Battery):
Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)

We highly recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. Camera does its job. But... surprise!! It doesn't work with your existing Nest App and existing Next cameras. This camera will not appear on your Nest App, and although your existing Nest cameras will appear on the Google Home app, much of their functionality will not. So to get everything you've paid for your existing Nest cameras and this new one, you have to switch back and forth between two different apps. Makes perfect sense, right?!?

Hi CDR1, thanks for sharing the details of your feedback about the Nest Cam (Battery). We’re sorry to hear of your disappointment in the lack of functionality in the Nest app. We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app and web app, however, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app.

Awesome camera. I was really debating between Ring & Nest. I have some Ring cams on other property already. I like the Nest better and I'll tell you why. The facial recognition is killer, love that. The battery seems to last a lot longer, about a month between charges in a busy house & lastly, I think a better looking camera. Great cam,you won't be disappointed.

Easy to install, handle. Resolution is very good. If you do not have a magic eye on the door (for example impact doors) you can use a monitor. Make sure that the internet width is good enough to handle both. The app works great in the phone.

Would be nice to have 2k and not have to pay a monthly fee for services that could be done local, but overall these cameras are worth it. Even better when you can find an open box. Getting outta date and would be nice if they had used USB C instead of a proprietary charging connector.

I've got four of these and like them a lot. Pretty good battery life, great video and audio quality, and good range to pick up WiFi even outside of my house. I only need to charge every couple of months. I did sign up for the Nest Aware service for 60ish a year, and it's totally worth it.

Live feed drops after 7 seconds....

I'm looking past the fact I like the Nest app better than Google Home for the cameras....but what is strange is that I cannot watch a live camera feed for more than 7 seconds before it goes to "camera unavailable". I then hit the "retry" button and watch for 7 more seconds...on and on. What is strange is that my wife has the same identical phone as me (OnePlus6T), and she does not have this issue! She can watch un-interrupted. Our wifi is very good. There must be a setting or app interfering on my phone....anyone else have this??

These cameras simply do not have the app integration you would expect compared to previous cameras. First, there is no web option to view camera feed nor can you stream to a wireless display such as a Chromecast. At first this could be excused as a coming feature but a year later it's starting to feel like another abandoned Google product. I run 6 of these plugged in with 24/7 history and all cameras still, consistently trigger 4-5 false "person" alerts a day. Unfortunately the camera stream does nothing to indicate where it thought it saw a person so you could potentially fix the issue. The biggest issue by far though is that after sending a push notification of activity, 90% of the time trying to launch the stream results in errors or "This video isn't available yet". It's almost like the triggering of an "event" causes the video buffer to stall out since dropping in on the cameras without a push notification always works. Again, after a year and no improvement is concerning. Overall I am growing tired of Google hardware and can't recommend these cameras.

Hi NickB, thanks for sharing your insights with us. We're sorry for any disappointment you may be having with some of the limited features on Nest Cam (Battery).

Although streaming to your TV using a Chromecast is still not supported, you may stream the video feed to a smart display device, like the Nest Hub or Nest Hub Max. To learn more about this feature, check out this help article: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9137164

Motion detection for Nest Cam (Battery) can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
      1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
      2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
      3. Restart your Camera.

We also recommend checking your network for possible congestion. Congestion may affect the streaming capability for your Nest camera, and may cause delayed notifications as well. Disconnecting some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space and enable you to test if you will get better cloud recording speeds. Once you verify congestion, contacting your Internet service provider to check your connection and upgrade your bandwidth is highly recommended.

We request for your patience as we work on developing the features that will enhance your experience with Nest Cam (Battery). In the meantime, you can always contact our support team for any other questions or support needs here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hi Drew, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We apologize if you’re unable to add your Nest Cam (battery) in the Nest app.

The new Nest Cam (battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

We value your feedback as it will greatly help us in improving our products and services. If you have any questions or concerns, you can always reach out to our support team. We’d be more than happy to help here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest
