Returning these for sure. Really, no Nest app support?? Seriously? I have lots of nest cameras at different locations in different towns. I was waiting for these so I didn’t have to run new power to certain areas. But what good is having to use a different app to see all me cameras! It’s a security camera! Am I supposed to flip between apps while there’s a potential break in? To the people or google who say “use the 1 google home app and see all the cameras”. That app is garbage. Hard to set up slow way slower than Nest app and unreliable and best. I’ve always been able to depend on the Nest app. But now it really makes the whole system useless. It was simple take a camera people love, make it battery operated. How did you screw that up??? These are coming back your way google.

Hi Matt, thanks for your feedback on Nest Cam (Battery). We´re sorry to hear about your disappointment with the Google Home app.

Our goal is to make the Google Home app the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

If you´re willing to try, you may set up your Nest cameras to the Google Home app. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up other Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Here´s a guide that you can follow to set up your Nest cameras on the Google Home app: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9893532

If you ever have a change of heart and reconsider to keep using Nest Cam (Battery). You´re always welcome to contact our support team for any questions or support needs you may have. You can contact us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

This WILL NOT work in the nest app. All nest cameras made by google starting in 2021 are not compatible. They force you to use the Google Home App which is absolutely horrible. Buy Arlo instead. It’s the new Nest.

      Posted .

Hi there Julia, thanks for letting us know about the issue. We're sorry to hear that your Nest Cam (Battery) dies too quickly. Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. Users can extend the battery life of their camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios:
Busy: About 1 month battery life (About 25 - 30 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 2.5 months battery life (About 13 - 16 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)

It's important to check the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery) and the temperature in your area. The battery life of Nest Cam (Battery) may have less than half the life that it has at temperatures close to -4°F (-20°C). If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events or temperature, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. We recommend contacting our support team for further assistance by visiting us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Hi Omar, thanks for contacting our support team. We´re sorry to hear about the negative experience you are having with the connectivity and video recording issue on Nest Cam (Battery).

We recommend checking for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.

Video recording can be triggered by motion detection on Nest Cam (Battery). These can also be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
      1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
      2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
      3. Restart your Camera.

We'd like to help you troubleshoot the connectivity and video recording issue further on your Nest Cam (Battery). If you´re willing to try, please contact our support team so we can provide further assistance using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethel Nest

I'm not sure how you can call this a "security" camera. The camera has a 10 minute notification cooldown period (may even be longer) which means if 2 separate events happen within a 10 minute time frame, you will only receive a notification for the first one. That's a massive flaw for a "security" camera. Returning these ASAP.

Hey there, Alexx. We’re sorry to hear you’re running into problems setting up your Nest Cam (Battery). Here’s some troubleshooting tips to get your device connected:

      1. Make sure you have the latest version of the Google Home app or Nest app to get the latest features and bug fixes.
      2. Your main router sometimes has a better connection than your network extenders. Also, if your camera tries to connect to an incompatible extender, it can experience connection issues.
      3. Restart your router, modem, and any Wi-Fi range extenders or repeaters that you have.

I want original Nest products back. I like the Nest app better. With these cameras you have to switch to google home app. Which is okay but if you have an old Nest product and are viewing the viewing history isn’t 24 hrs like it used to be. It only picks up motions as it pleases. Nothing to do with settings it’s Nest and “google nest” don’t seem to be 100% compatible. I miss old Nest. I loved Nest. Video quality is okay. Battery life as expected. I do like the zoning options this camera provides and familiar face recognition. Came with 1 charger for 2 cameras.

Google Nest Cam products are total garbage. Don't waste your money. Literally NEVER works when we need it, seldom can show live video (despite have 2 different internet services with 3 routers each and FAST bidirectional wifi everywhere in and outside our home). We TOTALLY regret investing in the Nest ecosystem and are planning to remove and purchase a REAL camera system.

The Google Nest camera does not seem to be a Nest camera at all. The software is different. it has to be installed with the less versatile Google software and cannot be added to the Nest software where I view my other Nest cameras. i could not find a way to make and save a short clip from the online recorded video. The differences should be noted on the outside of the packaging. I returned it quickly.
