These cameras suck!!! Before Google bought nest, the nest cameras indoor and out were the absolute best product. Great quality, connectivity and customer support. We have wired Google Nest now with 1000mps speed wifi and these cameras never work. Constantly saying “cannot load view” and “retry”. What good are they if they never work. Complete garbage!

Great camera! Have had it over a week now and as long as the settings you put are not too crazy it looks like it'll last over 2 months. If you're looking for something wired I would wait for the floodlight camera as the wire position is a little awkward.

Poor Connectivity and Poor Battery Life

We have several of these cameras and regret purchasing them. Don't expect to be able to use them as security cameras as they are very slow to connect if they even do. The wireless feature is only a selling gimick as the cameras run out of battery quickly and don't operate well on battery in colder climates.

If you are a previous Nest user, you will be let frustrated: You cannot access the new genreation of NEST cameras from the NEST app! Even worse -- you can not access this camera from a browser. So, you must user the Home app to see this new camera, and if you're like me, you will have to now use TWO APPS to access your Nest devices. (for example, Google Temp sensors do not appear in the Home app, and probably a few other devices I would reckon).

Hi RobRud, thanks for sharing your experience with the Nest Cam (Battery). We're sorry to hear that the two different apps for your other Nest devices are causing inconvenience.

The new Nest Cam (Battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

Very misleading, they make you believe its a Nest product, but once you open and unbox it say goodbye to the Nest app you have been using for years, it's not compatible, Now I have to use several apps to check my home cameras. the battery life is horrible, it says you can get up to a month before you have to recharge it. NOT TRUE, my camera on the back porch which has virtually no movement needs recharged every 2 weeks. I am very disappointed and if i still had my box I would return them. guess I have to eat this one

Hi cavern5280, thanks for posting a review about the Nest Cam (battery), and we’re sorry to learn of your disappointment in the lack of integration with the Nest app, and with its battery life.

Our priority is giving our customers choice and making devices for every home, and we’re continuing to support the Nest App. We chose to transition to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. And our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app, so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place. Also, using the Google Home app provides you with a lot of benefits including access to Google's trusted security platform and access to other Google tools and with seamless integration with other Google devices and devices from other brands.

We care about your experience, and we’re hoping for an opportunity to investigate the battery life issue. Please get in touch with us anytime and we’ll do our best to help: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I bought this camera in hopes that it will work with the Nest App. Nope! Given that this is a Nest design, I assumed it would be sturdy and robust. Nope! The camera frequently misses activity, hangs itself, quickly runs out of battery (even when it's plugged in) and the recharging takes forever. I've had the unit replaced by Google but these are the same issues. If I had known these flaws are core to its design, I would've stayed with my Wyze cameras and put in an SD card.

Don't get these. 7/10 when working. Clarity is decent. At night meh. Biggest factor is after a yeae battery is atrocious. Maybe 2-3 days. And due to google going with some terrible cable system. Not easy to hard wire. Nor is charging fast. 5-8hours with no cameras. What is the point? I would sale on sale only and with low expectations. Sadly.

Hi there, jetsareokay. Thank you for posting your feedback on Nest Cam (battery). We're sorry to hear that your experience with the battery life of the device didn't meet your expectations. To extend the battery life, we suggest adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. This link can help: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611

Also, connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included power adapter for continuous power will keep the battery charged. Please note that the optional power adapter is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).

Not an upgrade for current Nest Camera users.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Google Nest ecosystem taking a huge step backwards. Connecting these cameras require you to use the Google Home app, which is infuriating to use. They try to be a super app and fails spectacularly. For background, I have this outdoors, wired, Nest Aware+, Wifi 6 mesh, 1Gbps internet. 1. Google Home is too cluttered and has poor control. I don't want to see my 25 lightbulbs in my house in the same screen as all my cameras, thermostats, and speakers. - I use the Hue app to control my lights because it better organized for that function. - I use the Sonos app for my speakers. - Nest for my cameras. 2. Google Home has really bad nest camera interface. The Nest application is far more user friendly, has more control, and lets me scrub through the video timeline easily. If you have a busy camera location, good luck parsing through all those event clips. The Home apps only lets you browse through events (event if you have nest aware and 24/7 recording enabled). The thumbnails take forever to load and it is a PITA to go through. High speed scrubbing on video feed is amazingly convenient and the Home app completely misses here. 3. No anti-tamper mechanism and power cable This new camera is mountable only through magnets. Worse is they recommend mounting 6-8ft from the ground. The power cable option loops out forwards creating this unsightly cable loop. There is no option to connect the cable through the back, into the wall, for hidden wire installation. The previous nest camera outdoor IQ wins on almost every point still and I'm so disappointed they're no for sale anywhere.

Hi dear Shopper, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We’re sorry to hear that your experience using the new Nest Cam (Battery) was not ideal but we appreciate learning your reasons why.

We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app, however, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. Our teams are working on enabling the ability to setup and control older Nest cameras in the Home app so users will have one app to control all of their devices, and we’re working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices.

We'd love to share that the Nest Cam (Battery) is more secure with features such as tamper detection and additional accessories such as tamper proof mounts. You can use the Anti-Theft accessory (sold separately) to secure the Nest Cam to the wall. Using the magnets in both the base and the mount, it can detect when Nest Cam battery is being tampered with. Tamper detection is a feature that sounds an alarm and alerts the user when your device is being removed from the mount and is designed to provide peace of mind about potential device theft.

Your input helps us identify the areas we can improve our product and services on for our customers like you. If you would like our help with improving your experience, please don’t hesitate to contact us anytime here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Nest has long been focused on delivering quality products to our customers. We’re also focused on giving our customers value for the price, including three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. Doesn't work with Nest IOS app where my other Google cams are configured. Mostly useless without the Nest Aware subscription at $60/year for a single camera. Hi Montanero, thanks for sharing your feedback. We apologize for any difficulty you may be experiencing with your Nest Cam (Battery).

The newer Nest Aware actually lets you pay for a single monthly or yearly subscription amount for all your Nest cameras, speakers and displays in your home. For more information, come visit this help article on our support page: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9546397

Using the Google Home app provides you with a lot of benefits and features. We also wanted to make it the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, and the Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Also, here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app:
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

We're continually making improvements to our products and services. We can always help you further with any issue you may be having with your Nest Cam (Battery), if you can reach out to us at Google Nest Support page here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I love Nest and mist if their products, but these wireless cameras are just bad. I will keep thisbreview short and get to the point. Two pros: easy to install because they are wireless, and the camera resolution is good. The cons: very large in size, doesnt work with original app, and most importantly they do not oick up motion well at all. And when it does pick up motion by miracle , it only alerts you once as it seems to wait a long time to reset becore sending any new alerts. Just awful in my opnion. There were people coming in and out frame for 10 mins and the camera had only alerted me the first time. These were returend and i bought the smaller nest caneras that are wired. Now those work far more superior

Hi Miggy, thanks for sharing your feedback on Nest Cam (Battery). We appreciate the details regarding what works and doesn't work for you. We apologize for any inconvenience you may be having about the issue with the motion detection.

Motion detection on Nest Cam (Battery) can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
      1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
      2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
      3. Restart your Camera.

We'd like to help you troubleshoot the motion detection issue further with your Nest Cam (Battery) if none of the steps we provided prove to be helpful. If you´re willing to try, please contact our support team so we can provide further assistance using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Horrible do not buy. You are forced to use the google home app which is a cluttered mess and does not function correctly. It takes three times the time to view all your cameras at once as it did the NEST APP. The google app will not hold a steady feed on all cameras especially the new battery camera. The app constantly has to retry and connect to see a live feed. I have also noticed the google home app locks up during those simple tasks. Google just destroyed the one good thing they had going for them and that was NEST and the NEST APP. Only if Apple owned NEST, life would be that more simple. I purchased the doorbell, camera and monitor bundle to only be dissatisfied with all three products. I love my three outdoor NEST cameras as well as the NEST APP and I hoped this purchase would have been a great addition. I am returning all three products and look for alternatives.

Hi Andreray, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback with Nest Cam (Battery). We sorry that you came across with some issues in the Google Home App while using your Nest Cam (Battery).

You can try doing the following:
