    Not worth it

It's frustrating that they don't work with the nest app, or nest aware plus. Why call the Nest cameras then? You can only download :Events" through the Home app. But you can clearly see people, movement, and hear audio outside of the event window. But no way to save it makes the cameras useless.

Can’t use camera in Nest app?! R u serious??

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Mannn… I’ve been using Nest for 8 years, tried all the popular cameras (Argo, Eufy, Ring, etc), and I always go back to Nest, they just do everything right (just wish they had HomeKit support). Anyways, I’ve been needing a bunch of new cameras for a long time, kept holding off until Google came up with new cameras, they finally did, ordered 6 of these. They are everything I wanted, until I realized I have to use the GOOGLE HOME app, I can’t use the NEST app, what I’ve been using and come accustomed to for years. The NEST app is the sole reason I’ve stuck with Google, they just do it right. But now I can’t use these cameras? Not only am I returning all 6 I bought, but now I’m starting to research other camera options and will replace my current set of cameras. This is the future of the nest eco-system? No thanks :(

Hours of frustration to no avail

The Google - Nest Camera Battery - Snow was not a plug and play experience for me. The simplicity of plugging in the Nest Cam, opening up the Google Home app and tap + to add my camera did not work at all. I could not get the Nest Cam to add to my home by tapping the +. Finally, I decided to try turning on my phones location and after connecting with my location, the Google home app suggested that I turn on my Bluetooth. Once I turned on my phones’ Bluetooth, the Nest Cam started the connection process through my Google Home app. It went through all the steps to get the camera active, but then it went to an automatic update. First, was installing updates forever, it felt like, then downloading update, again feeling like forever. This process continued in a loop, with me never getting the Nest Cam to work. This error message appeared, “There may be a problem. Something may have gone wrong during setup. You may have to reset your device”. After resetting my brand new Nest Camera, the same installing and downloading loop started again. When I backed out of updates and tried to go around them, I was taken to the “Finish setup to use this device page”. My only options given were “Remove device or Finish setup”. Neither of them would get my Nest Cam to work.

Hi there TheTruthRealDeal, thanks for letting us know about the difficult experience in setting up your Nest Cam (Battery). We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused you.

We understand that setting up a device can be tricky at times, that's why you can count on us to help you. It's most likely that the issue may be related to a connectivity issue between your Nest Cam (Battery) and mobile phone. We recommend ensuring that your mobile phone is connected to your Wi-Fi network and that the mobile or cellular data for your mobile phone is disabled. We also recommend placing your Nest Cam (Battery) nearer to your router and mobile phone and that it is in a clear line of sight from your router. This will ensure both your mobile phone and Nest Cam (Battery) get a strong Wi-Fi signal from your router.

If you still experience the same issue, please do contact our support team for further assistance with the set up. You may reach out to us via this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

Wait to buy! Can't use the Nest App

The NEST APP WON'T WORK with it! You HAVE to use the Google Home App and when you do, you can easily review what has been recorded. When you go in to HISTORY to review what has been recorded. When you are on LIVE can ONLY watch what it is currently streaming. Not worth the $150 each (BF Pricing) The GOOD: Easy to install, connect to your wifi and so far the battery life is doing well. Hurry up with the solar panel charger!

    Google ruined Nest.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Firmware update ruined camera resolution on both exterior cameras overnight. Plan fees recently increased without any new features. Even if you pay for 24/7 cloud storage the system will only allow saving of event clips NOT any segment of the 24/7 recording time. IE: If the Google cam didn't create an event then you won't be able to save it. I've found events are missed regularly and the AI for recognizing what it does see is frequently inaccurate. For example every night my sprinklers come on the camera thinks there's a vehicle in my backyard. It really is a ruined system.

Not dependable or worth the anxiety.

Now this goes for googles side of nest. Not nest before google got their hands on it. I have three nest (OG) and two nest (google) cameras. Google once again had to take something and make it worse. I have zero issues with the original 4+ year old nest cameras. The google cameras are unreliable and don’t work 80% especially when I need them to work. My original nest cameras are twice as far from the modem and never drop out. Also, it’s irritating when you get a notification from the google nest and you can’t view it sometimes for another hour. That’s not security, that’s anxiety…. Use your money elsewhere as I’m going to do.

Horrible technology. Doesn't support NEST APP

Horrible app support. Can not use the NEST app. Have to use Google Home app which is missing a TON of features from the NEST app. You can't set to auto record when you leave home. You can't manage older nest cams (only view) from the google home. Some settings you have to use your phone to change and can't change from a computer browser. Horrible. Worst camera/app technology I've ever had. Nest did it so much better and I loved it. They really need to take the NEST name off these cameras and other devices as you can't even use the much better NEST app to manage them. 2 years later and Google still hasnt figured out how to do it. Not the company they used to be.....so sad.

By no one’s surprise Google is ignoring customers and taking 10 steps backwards with quality on Nest. The camera picture quality/clarity is not up to par with the older cameras, it’s worse. No one wants to use the Google Home app as it is not easy to use and quite bloated. Google, you can’t get rid of the nest app no matter how hard you passively try. We the consumer PAY a SUBSCRIPTION for QUALITY, NOT Amazon Ring. If I wanted cheap quality I would have purchased Amazon Ring. I am very disappointed and will not be purchasing any more Google products until the quality issues are fixed and assurance that google will stop killing products without notice (The Nest Secure is a good example, also check out the killed by Google website)

Hi there, thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We apologize for the disappointing experience you´re having with Nest Cam (Battery).

We understand that you have enjoyed using the Nest app with your Nest cameras. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. The new Nest Cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays.

Your Nest Cam (Battery) has full HD resolution with HDR video quality that’s optimized for a clear view in bright sun or dark. Keep in mind that it also helps save battery power. We believe that pixel count is only one factor that impacts video quality, and it shouldn’t be the only deciding factor when choosing a camera.

Hi there, we appreciate your feedback. We're sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with Nest Cam (Battery) and the Google Home app.

We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Indoor, Wired):
      - Automatic security protections such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
      - Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, ""Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
      - One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
      - Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for sharing the details of your concerns for Nest Cam (Battery) with us. We apologize for any inconvenience you may be having with the connectivity issue for the Google Home app.

Here are some suggested troubleshooting steps you can try out:
      - Check your Nest camera´s distance to the router or access point.
      - Restart your Nest Cam (Battery). Locate the reset button on the back of the camera. Press and hold for 5 seconds. Your camera will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white.
      - Restart your router.
      - Check for interference. Almost every network is subject to wireless interference which can cause problems when connecting your camera to the Nest app. Check for any wireless interference that may be caused by thick walls and floors, competing Wi-Fi networks, from other electronics in your home.
      - Check the settings on your Wi-Fi router or access point. Some settings on your router or access point could be causing a problem with the connection. High firewall security or parental controls can block communication with Nest servers.

We'd like to help you further. If you will allow us, please contact any of our support specialists here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

I have 5 of them. I was super excited to see what new improvements the scientists had come up with in the new 2021 cams. I ordered 2 of them and started to use them... OMG these are terrible terrible terrible I returned them both after about 4 days. I won't type up the long list of problems as so many other people have outlined them but let me say SHAME SHAME SHAME on Google for releasing this very inferior products.
