The Nest Cam (Battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

Hi DaveS, thanks for the review that you provided about the Nest Cam (Battery). Nest has long been focused on delivering quality products to our customers. We’re also focused on giving our customers value for the price, including three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. There's no fee to stream full resolution live video and receive basic notifications, as long as your camera is connected to the internet. You won't ever have to worry about missing any events as these videos and clips are all saved onto the Cloud. All these features can be viewed and controlled at the tip of your fingertip using the Google Home App.
