I loved the old Nest software. Google is getting rid of that software so keep that in mind if you are attached to the old Nest software. The Google software is terrible.

However, this camera is a failure to the Google and Nest brand name. The battery life is absolutely horrible. Even at the lowest settings, I have to charge the camera wvery week. Why not just buy a lower quality camera with a better battery life!? Cannot add to Nest app. Do not recommend!

We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on bringing full functionality to the Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. Meanwhile, we suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view for cameras set up in the Google Home app.

They are out of the warranty period so they will not do anything to replace the cameras. Would not recommend as they do not last and they don’t stand by their product quality.

Firstly, you cant use the nest app with the cameras. Secondly, you have to use the google home app which requires your gps location information on your house. Thirdly, ive tried to connect the cameras literally with the camera sitting side by side with my router, and the app says it cannot connect the camera and recommends me moving the camera closer. I guess im supposed to melt them together at this point??? Would not recommend

Connectivity issues may be related to a few factors including the following:
- We recommend checking for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
- Disable the mobile data function on your mobile phone and ensure that its connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Nest Cam (Battery)

We hear your concerns about its field of view along with its image quality during night time. We’ll share your feedback with the right team for future improvements. Meanwhile, we suggest cleaning the lens with a soft cloth that’s made for cleaning optics. Dust, thumbprints and dirt can cause poor image quality. You can also try turning your camera so that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view. Use the app to zoom and enhance, and crop out surfaces or objects that may be the cause of the glare.
If a bright white shape along the edge appears while everything else is too dark, there might be a surface that’s too close in your camera’s view (like a wall). Angle your camera so the surface stays out of view.

This version of nest camera utilizes the google home app, which isn’t the greatest. My older nest cams integrate with the nest app… this one does not. Kind of a disappointment.

While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users like you with previous versions of Nest cameras can view your camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.
Your camera could be detecting a lot of activities, as the battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. If you have to charge the battery more often than you should, you may consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest camera is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately) that will keep the battery charged.

The camera was great, installed quick, and the free 3 hour video clips with facial recognition feature is enough for her at the moment.

You can scroll back the footage to see anything you want. I just purchased 5 new Nest Cameras which require Google Home App. With this app, you can only review if there is movement. Which is an awful feature and NOT useful.

Since the initial charge too they are still going and have a couple weeks of battery life too!
