We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on bringing full functionality to the Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. Meanwhile, we suggest having the latest version of the Google Home app that may improve camera playback controls to make it easier to play, pause, and navigate between events from the camera history view for cameras set up in the Google Home app.

Connectivity issues may be related to a few factors including the following:
- We recommend checking for possible congestion in your Wi-Fi network. Removing some of your connected devices can help free up some bandwidth space. You may then check to see if you will still experience the same connectivity issue.
- Disable the mobile data function on your mobile phone and ensure that its connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Nest Cam (Battery)

We understand that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on bringing full functionality to the Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. While the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users like you with previous versions of Nest cameras can view your camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.

Your camera could be detecting a lot of activities, as the battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. If you have to charge the battery more often than you should, you may consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest camera is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately) that will keep the battery charged.

"Hello there, Trytobesafe. Thanks for the feedback, and we’re glad that your Nest Cam (battery) works. We hear your concerns about its field of view along with its image quality during night time. We’ll share your feedback with the right team for future improvements. Meanwhile, we suggest cleaning the lens with a soft cloth that’s made for cleaning optics. Dust, thumbprints and dirt can cause poor image quality. You can also try turning your camera so that any nearby surfaces or objects (like a wall) are out of view. Use the app to zoom and enhance, and crop out surfaces or objects that may be the cause of the glare.
If a bright white shape along the edge appears while everything else is too dark, there might be a surface that’s too close in your camera’s view (like a wall). Angle your camera so the surface stays out of view.

Our goal with the Google Home app was to make it the one place where you can control all your favorite Nest devices and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Here are some benefits you can get by using the Google Home app with your Nest Cam (Battery):
- Automatic security protections, such as Suspicious activity detection, 2-Step Verification and Security Checkup.
- Your Google Nest devices and services will work together. For example, if you have a Nest Cam and a Nest Hub, just say, "Hey Google, show me the backyard camera” to cast your camera stream to your display without any additional setup.
- One account to sign into both the Nest and Google Home apps.
- Your homes and home members will be aligned across the Nest and Google Home apps.

You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. However, the battery life for your Nest Cam (Battery) can be affected by factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. Here are some typical scenarios:
Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20-25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9-12 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2-4 recorded events per day)

We're hoping you will still consider using Nest Cam (Battery). And if you're willing to try, we recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery).
