We’re focused on giving our customers value for the price, including three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. There's no fee to stream full resolution live video and receive basic notifications, as long as your camera is connected to the internet. However, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to receive advanced notifications. With a Nest Aware subscription your video will be saved to the cloud and you’ll get extra features. Hi there, thanks for posting a review to share what you’ve experienced with the Nest Cam (Battery). We’re sorry to learn that you ran into this issue with your camera not catching any activities.

Your camera runs algorithms to process video and audio data so it can determine whether it detected something you might want to know about. If you only need your camera to detect people, animals, or moving vehicles, we recommend that you do not turn on the basic motion and sound detection feature. You might have to move your camera, change your camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity and choose which events your camera or doorbell can detect and record (people, motion, package etc.).

We’d be happy to share this with the right team as we’re constantly looking to improve the reliability, usability, and use of various features. Meanwhile, although you can connect your camera to a power outlet with the included power adapter for continuous power to keep the battery charged, the power adapter included is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use. We recommend using a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately) instead.
