Hello there, BarryS. Thanks for sharing your feedback about the Nest Cam (battery). We hear your concerns about having one charging cable and adapter, along with using 2 different apps for your cameras.

Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.

Also, the 2-pack Nest Cam (battery) comes with a single charging cable. Your cameras shouldn't usually need to be charged at the same time due to differences in usage, such as event frequency or the scene the camera is observing, sensitivity, and event duration settings.

There are several factors that can influence detection speed. WiFi signal strength, camera placement, and even weather conditions can affect detection speed so we suggest checking the motion detection settings in the Google Home app. Ensure motion zones are set to focus on the area with expected activity. Higher sensitivity might trigger faster detection but could also lead to unwanted alerts for minor movements. Battery life depends on how often the camera detects motion and records video. Frequent recordings will drain the battery faster. Motion detection for your Nest Cam (Battery) can be affected by changes in the light level, and shadows moving across the frame like when a cloud moves in front of the sun. This also includes other movements within the camera's field of view like trees or bushes swaying. If you're not getting any alerts or notifications, we recommend trying out the steps below:
1. Change the Activity Zones on your camera. You can delete your existing Activity Zone and create a new one in any area within your camera's field of view. Just make sure that none of the zones you create overlap.
2. Change the angle of your camera and account for the lighting in the surrounding area.
3. Restart your Camera.
