The battery only is nice, having the option of plugging in is great. Wish it came with waterproof cord

Google Nest attempts to send you the right number of alerts at the right times, so the camera will trigger a short cooldown period each time a notification is sent. While the duration of the cooldown period varies by alert type (person, sound, motion, etc.) the behavior remains the same. Once an event begins, an alert is sent and the cooldown period begins. Until the cooldown period expires without any new activity of that type, no new alerts of that type are sent.
We hear your concern about having the weatherproof cable included with the purchase of Nest Cam (battery), and we’ll pass it along to the right team as we’re always looking for ways to improve our products and services. Meanwhile, you can use the included power adapter to connect your camera to a power outlet for continuous power. However, please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use.

Easy to Set Up and Use

There are several videos on YouTube, but it was a very straightforward set up. I opted for the optional 15 foot cable over the standard cable as I already have a Google Nest Aware subscription and I wanted to have 24/7 monitoring. Having the back up battery is a nice feature though.

Quality Product and Easy to Install

I’ve built a great Google Nest and home system. So easy to install. I saw other camera security systems that would have been a nightmare to install with wires and cords all over the place. Google Nest was a great buy, especially since they were on sale.

The picture quality is fantastic and the image loads quickly. I wish I had gone with google from the start.

Not exactly what I thought

Very flexible in placement, and batter life lasts a long time. My biggest disappointment with this product is I have used Nest products for many years, and this does not work on the nest app. Only the terrible google app. Very disappointing!! Only would recommend if you never had any Nest products before. If you have, I don’t consider this a nest product, as Google has sunk in their claws into the product line and killed a good thing.

The new Nest Cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest speakers and displays. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Our neighbors cars got burned down by arsonists

They were set ablaze by some local hoodlums. I wanted to make sure my cars had some protection. So I immediately went to best buy and bought this system. Now its both a great deterrent and protector for my vehicles. Great quality video and has two way talk feature.

Posted .Hi Tckid, thanks for posting your review on Nest Cam (battery). We can see that you're experiencing some difficulties with the IR lights of your device. We'd suggest adjusting its position to avoid any glare. However, if you want to turn it off you can follow the steps here:
- On the home screen, select the camera you want.
- Tap Video.
- Under Night Vision, select from Always on, Auto, or Off.
Please be advised that if you switch Night Vision to 'Off' your camera will not automatically turn on night vision when it gets dark. For further assistance or additional questions about your Nest Cam, please contact us on our Google Help page here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

As these are newer than the originals, they don't show up in the Nest App, but everything shows up in the Google Home app. The battery life is decent, with active cameras lasting 2 weeks, less active units lasting less.

The most irritating thing is that this camera can only be accessed with the Google Home app, which was NOT mentioned when I was buying this, and which is NOT as good an app as the Nest app that previously could be used. Google should not be able to call it a "Nest" product when it can't be used with that app. I would rather have the older camera due to that.

And while the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.
