Inconsistent Event Detection & Notifications

Some days, the camera won't even push a single notification. I have mine mounted above my garage, facing the street, and we get a lot of foot traffic and cars passing our house, so we should get a lot of activity being captured throughout the day. It's not a settings issue, both my Google Home app and my phone push notification settings are properly configured. My settings: Wake-up Sensitivity: High Maximum Event Length: 1 min Video quality: Max Push Notifications: All (Motion, People, Animals, Vehicles) I've tried resetting the camera, and reinstalling it into my Google Home App, but nothing has fixed the issue. If you're in the market for a home security system, I wouldn't recommend the Google camera system at this point. The only reason I haven't switched already is because I've already invested a lot of money into this system, and switching brands/devices, plus subscription will just further incur more costs. I'm overall unsatisfied with the performance of this device. I'm not getting what I'm paying for with the Nest Aware subscription using this camera. I have little-to-no confidence that this camera would detect anything if someone were to vandalize or steal my property within line-of-sight of the camera. Do some thorough review comparisons with competitive brands! Hopefully this helps!

Just make sure you set the active areas so the camera doesnt pick up trees, flags, car on the street. I set for just our driveway. Otherwise the batter will drain too fast.

The other ways you can extend the battery life of your camera is by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios:
- Busy - About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
- Typical - About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
- Quiet - About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
If you’re willing to try, we recommend checking the frequency of events (per day) that you get with your Nest Cam (Battery). If the short battery life isn’t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your Nest Cam (Battery) and understand what may be causing it. They are getting better but lack refinement

At night it really struggles and makes bad calls alot. Cant upload video to your phone while giving a live feed so you cant see things while they happen if you get an alert. So look at your options should have done more research on my part

I kinda miss arlo as it was good at dected people vs animals. I love the fave reqiginition though. The intercoms are great.

Battery life has been good for the amount of activity where this camera is placed.

Leave it to Google to buy and ruin a good thing. This camera is decent quality, but who in their right mind wants to recharge their outside security camera daily. The camera DOES NOT integrate into existing set ups and frankly the application to use it just stinks. Google tech support to set this up is a joke as well. They do not know a thing about it in India and you will waste many minutes of your life listening to someone ask dumb questions that are not even part of this camera. Google failed on this totally.

The new Nest Cam (Battery) is exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.
