Hi there, thanks for your feedback and for bringing this to our attention. We're sorry to hear that the new Nest Cam (battery) didn’t meet your expectations. This is not the type of experience we want you to have, but we're here to help.

New Nest cameras are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience. But you can still view your existing Nest cameras alongside with the new Nest Cams in the Google Home app. Also, using the Google Home app provides you with a lot of benefits including access to Google's trusted security platform and access to other Google tools and with seamless integration with other Google devices.

As for the quality, adjusting the video quality in settings to balance high resolution video with longer battery life and lower bandwidth use might be helpful.. For optimal video quality at 1080p, an internet connection upload speed with at least 2 Mbps per camera is recommended (DSL may not qualify). Please check the steps below:
- Open the Home app Google Home app.
- Select your camera.
- Tap Settings Video.
- Under “Video quality,” tap High.

Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Also, event detection depends on the camera settings that you select, you can change the settings like adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas.
