I now have a few of these cameras and overall they are very good for my use case. I have them connected directly to an outlet so I don't worry about charging batteries. The resolution is HD and the night vision is acceptable. I don't currently subscribe to their cloud service so you get three hours of history. That isn't a lot but it works for me as I can download any clip as needed. There are other options out there and I've used a few but these seem to work just fine for me and the safety of my household.

Love our Google cameras much more than the previous Arlo cameras that we had. Cameras are clear and work well with our Google home app and interior display. Price of the cameras along with the solar panels is quite high but worth every penny.

good quality on images. battery is worthless. only lasts a few days and they only provide one charger with the 2 pack. also, can't use with online nest account. need to use a stupid home app which is not available desktop
Hi Tiller, thanks for sharing your review and we're sorry to hear that your experience with the Nest Cam (battery) has been less than ideal when it comes to battery life and using the Nest app. Our priority with this launch was to create an integrated experience with other Google Nest products and to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant.
If you need further assistance with your Nest Cam's battery issues or using your Google Home app, please don't hesitate to contact us on our Google Help page here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Great video quality, easy to set up. Took months to decide between this and ring, but it works so easy with phone and other Google displays. One app on my phone for doorbell, security camera, hue lights, thermostat and smart displays.
I had Ring camera, install on that one took a while and when i had to recharge, i had to remember his to unscrew it then take out the battery. This one you simply pop it off the magnet, or unscrew the security screw and take the camera down. Install is much easier than ring camera too

All four of my cameras wont charge. Ive tried different cables and outlets and they just will not charge. Connection and video quality is great when they do manage to charge.
Hey there, Toni. While we’re glad you’re enjoying the video quality with the Nest Cam (Battery), we’re sorry you’re having charging issues — we get how frustrating this can be. We’d like to investigate and get your devices back up and running. When you get a second, talk to us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

These are ok, a little disappointed in streaming quality but it gets the job done. Have lots of issues with connectivity, however ease of use and set up is really easy. Battery life on these last forever, almost 3 weeks. No weather or rain guard so when it rains view is obstructed

Love nest cameras, but this cordless will require being plugged in for full recorded history, wasn’t aware of that, now will need a cord. Also, the old nest app is going away, so need to use both apps, google home and nest. Need to figure out how to combine into one, so far haven’t figured it out yet, have older cameras. Otherwise it works fine.

These are easy to install, setup on phone simple, my only complaint/concern is the battery life is significantly less than advertised. Having to climb the ladder every 10 days is not very pleasant.
Hello there, BigR1965. We appreciate your feedback. We’re glad that the setup and installation of your Nest Cam (battery) went easy for you. We understand that having to charge your cameras more often than you should, can be an inconvenience. You can extend the battery life of your cameras by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Check this link for more details: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
Meanwhile, you might want to consider connecting your cameras to a power outlet with the included power adapter for continuous power and to keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).

The camera works great. My only initial issue was getting it to connect/setup on the Google home app. It needed to be near another nest product to get connected. Thankfully, I already use the best thermostat, so I held it next to that and it finally connected. From there it was a breeze. The picture quality is great. Something to keep in mind, is that it doesn't have theft protection. So i highly recommend purchasing some theft protection to prevent anyone from walking up and and just taking your camera (its only magnetically held on). You will get notifications when people are spotted. My only complaint there is that there should be a "snooze" button for that alert. When my lawn guys come, it constantly will send me notifications while they're working. All in all, it does what it needs to do and I enjoy them.
Hi Navynuke93, It's awesome to hear that Nest Cam (Battery) works great for you, and we do appreciate that you were able to fix the initial set up issue you had. We will take into consideration your suggested snooze button feature since we're always searching for ways that can help us improve our products and services. However, your Nest Cam (Battery) does have the capability that enables you to change the camera alerts using the Google Home app. Here's how: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9210305

Solid Upgrade

I do feel like this is an upgrade over the previous Nest IQ cameras largely due to the on-device biometrics. It’s very impressive how quickly it can pick up a known face (almost instantly). In general, notifications come in again almost instantly vs. about 30 second to 1 minute with the old IQ cameras. The vehicle notifications are also very handy. Allows me to keep the motion alerts category of notifications off which provides a much quieter experience in terms of notifications.
The video quality looks on par with the older IQ cameras. I’m using the cameras in wired power mode. The night visions seems slightly better than on the IQ cameras, but it’s very close. It is nice to see Nest release a battery camera which increases its versatility. I know everyone was hoping for a true 4K camera, but it’s just not feasible to have say 5 or 6 cameras all streaming 4K video to the cloud at the same time. We’ll get there eventually, but just not yet. Overall, a solid upgrade!

Good video and audio. Very easy to install although I had to try multiple times to get all the way through the process. Battery life so far is great. Wish they were constant on like the other nest cams but other than that very good cams.

I set my expectations after reading the reviews about the cameras and I like them so far.
I had the non battery ones before and I understand what everybody is complaining about, not being connected to the nest app and only working with the google home didn't feel like a deal breaker after all. you can always choose to only view your cameras on the google home app and see everything together without being disturbed by all the other smart devices connected to the app.
Also being on Idle not a big issue since it will detect motion just as well as the old versions, it's a plus since it saves battery.
quality can be changed if you don't like what it's defaulted to and I'm keeping them on high quality and they both capture clear videos.
battery life is good so far, %94 after over two weeks.
I wish they had two charging wires as everybody mentioned and for that I'm skipping one star but other than that I feel they're great google cameras for the price.

Do I love it? NO!
Do I like it? Absolutely!
I hate the fact that you have to use the Google Home app to view them.
In addition, the battery does not really last that long as stated.
However, the quality is awesome and the camera works as advertised.
Hi Ramon, we appreciate you taking the time to write this review. We're glad that your Nest Cam (battery) works as advertised, and are sorry to hear your poor experience with using the Google Home app, and the camera’s battery life.
We’re aware that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their Nest camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority with this launch was building a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on a seamless solution to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. Also, using Google Home app provides you with a lot of benefits including access to Google's trusted security platform and access to other Google tools. This means you get a simpler interface and a simpler way to connect all your devices into a single environment.
Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. This link might be helpful: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
If you still have to charge the battery more often than you’d like, you might want to consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter. Connecting to continuous power will keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included with the Nest Cam (battery) is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).
We can also check for other reasons why the battery life is less than expected. If you're willing to work with us, please get in touch with us through our available support channels found here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

I’ve been using this outdoor camera for a few months now, and I’m really impressed. The video quality is super clear both day and night, and the motion detection works exactly as advertised. I like that I can check the live feed straight from my phone—it loads quickly and gives me peace of mind when I’m away.

Over all, its very easy to install, set up panels.., but I would love for it to have the feature Heard events to work while connected to solar panel. I noticed that in some instances it detect me but in others it dont.

Worked great overall. Very easy install. Good picture quality during the day and overall battery life for our home works out to months not weeks. The camera performs well at night, though some of the arlo cameras have higher quality (color, resolution) night vision.

First, we are a Google-centric home. Second, I read all the negative reviews of this camera and I was certainly ready to take it back if it did not meet my needs. Most of the really poor reviews were from former Nest camera (before Google) users. We do not fit into that category. This was our first outdoor security camera.
It was easy to set up. However, I was a little taken aback by the requirement to install it between 6 and 6/1/2 feet from the ground. The good news is that this makes it easy to take down and recharge. The bad news anyone could easily reach it. The magnetic mount is very strong, and I am hoping would-be porch pirates will not know it can be pulled off its mount.
It definitely took some time to figure out all the settings. The bad news was the amount of trial and error it took to get it set up the way I wanted it. The good news is the design of the settings allowed me to eventually set it up the way I wanted it.
The other big complaint I read about in the reviews was the battery life. First, it is a trade off. I always intended to use this camera on battery power. Every few years when better models of security cameras are developed, I will be the replacing this one...easily! Second, I only need this camera to capture people...not cars, not animals...just people. Set up in that manner, the battery life has been quite satisfactory, going down only 1-2 percentage points a day. I can live with that!
We live in a condo. It is a good neighborhood and our doors are quite visible, so I am not overly concerned about break-ins. However, I did want to know when packages were delivered so I could bring them in the house as soon as possible and avoid tempting any porch pirate. I did have to increase the sensitivity on this camera. One of our regular delivery guys is very quick and the camera only captured his back after he dropped off a package. But, it was good to know that change was needed.
To sum up, after getting this camera set up just the way I wanted it, I purchased another one for our side door. I could not be happier I stayed with Google cameras for my Google-centric home.
Hi there mwsnelso, thanks for being a Google advocate and we´re glad that you had an easy time setting it up. We´re sorry to hear about your concerns with the security of your Nest Cam (Battery).
Battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios: - Busy - About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day) - Typical - About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day) - Quiet - About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
We´re glad to hear that you couldn't be happier with your Nest Cam (Battery). Please keep in mind that our support team is ready to help you with any support needs you may have, if you can reach out to us using this link: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp
