First time buying security cameras, and these are my impressions:
1) super easy to set up and installation is fast and easy if you’re familiar with Google home already.
2) video quality is good for all the features that includes for a reasonable price. Nest aware plan starts at $6. Face detection is amazing.
3) cameras can be adjusted to your preference. Which means it will covered the area of your choice and get notifications of that specific zone already selected.
Overall I’m just waiting for the cameras battery life. But So far they’re holding fine.

Overall great product. Picture and image quality is good. Unfortunately, you cant use the Nest app with this camera. You will have to use the Google home app to use and monitor this camera. I prefer the Nest app for better and convenient daily user friendly capabilities. I like the idea of having a portable battery powered camera to place in random areas that you can view over Wi-Fi and on your cell phone. If I would have known that this camera didn't use the Nest app, I don't think I would have made the purchase. But again, a pretty decent camera and hopefully Google adds this camera to the Nest app. Other note: Larger than other Nest cameras due to internal battery.

Hi Mark, thanks for sharing your experience. We're glad to hear that you like the new Nest Cam (battery), and we do apologize if you´re unable to add it to your Nest app.
Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, and Google Assistant. In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app. Users with older cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Cams. Our team is working on bringing full functionality to the Google Home app so all of your cameras can be set up and controlled in one place.
We value your feedback, and as it will greatly help us in improving our products and services. You can reach out to us for further assistance anytime here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Overall the video quality is okay and they are fairly discrete making them a decent option for home security. The only thing I do not like about the battery powered nest cameras is that you cannot get 24/7 surveillance even if you have them plugged in full time, they record only when they detect motion, vehicles, people, or animals (depending on what you set them to detect). Recommended for people who don’t need 24/7 surveillance.

Love these. Been using them for a few months now so I’m able to give it a pretty fair assessment. The system is user friendly. You can set it so you can be alerted anytime someone passes by. Additionally, you can view footage anywhere. A con I would say is that unless you can a paid membership, you won’t be able to view footage from 12 hours ago. I think it’s useful to be able to do that.
Good day, Kate! We’re glad that you love the Nest Cam (battery) along with its features and functionality. We understand that having the ability to view footage from the past (more than three hours) can be ideal for you.
As we're always evaluating and refining our products based on customer’s feedback and industry trends, we’ve included three hours of event history right out of the box for the first time ever. On-device processing also gives our customers smart alerts and Activity Zones, which historically have required a subscription. There's no fee to stream full resolution live video, receive notifications, and view video history for up to three hours in the past, as long as your camera is connected to the internet. However, you’ll need a Nest Aware subscription to receive advanced features. Learn more what you can get with the Nest Aware subscription here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9233159

Very good battery life and video quality,
Only downfall is footage is only saved for 3 hours. So if you dont go save it within then, its just gone forever, and if something happens overnight, by the time you wake up the footage has deleted it self. I understand it being optimized for performance but 3 hours is far too short and should be fixed

The installation was done by the GeekSquad team. It required some time and effort to install in the beginning. It was connected to the google home app but can not connect to the nest app. One of the cameras was not transmitting images correctly, so I had to replace both, and this also did not solve the issue. I had to get a third-party repair person from BestBuy who came to fix the problem. The camera quality is good. I think battery consumption is, more especially in winter, so it will need charging at 3-4 weeks.

camera shows good picture quality and does really a good job of picking people up nearby, the only thing i dont like about it is that the battery drains quickly if you don't change the setting to more battery life and less recording. I also like that i can hear and talk to people thru the app

These are the best cameras I have ever used. With the nest subscription being able to look at my live video for 30 days and motion for 60 days and when I have it plugged in, you can see 24 seven recording not many other cameras offer that. Super easy to use and set up. I even have multiple cameras set up at different homes and it lets you create tabs for each home and give access to each person that lives in that home without them being able to see every camera which is an amazing feature.

These are excellent cameras for the price. There is a limitation to the mounting where it works best when mounted to a wall vs. a ceiling. The setup process is very simple and the wifi works well.

I purchased these for a family member who had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a neighbor who has anger issues and I must admit, I am impressed. Google has always been my go to when it came to cameras and other such hardware but these cameras in particular provide you with a very clear view of whatever it is you are monitoring. The handy magnet mounts are perfect and the fact that they do not require a power cord makes it all the more handy. They seem to hold a charge for about a month and than you'll have to recharge them again for about four hours. Other than this, I am completely happy with my purchase.

My installation was done in our 3 season room so it is an enclosed situation. Pairs easy with app. A few screws and you are ready to go.

Google Nest Cam (Indoor/Outdoor, Wire-Free)

I’ve been using the Nest Cam wire-free version for a couple of months now, and overall, I’m really happy with it. I use one outside by the front door and another inside the garage. The biggest plus is that it’s truly wire-free, so I didn’t have to drill or run power lines—just mounted it and connected it to Wi-Fi.
The video quality is crisp, and the night vision works great. The smart motion detection is pretty accurate, and I really like that it can tell the difference between people, animals, and vehicles. The battery life is decent—mine lasts about 1.5 to 2 months on a single charge, depending on activity.
Integration with the Google Home app is smooth, but I do wish it had more settings control like the older Nest app. Also, if you want continuous recording or familiar face detection, you’ll need to subscribe to Nest Aware.

We really like this camera but the battery dies pretty face. This may be “user error” as its further from our router so its often trying hard to connect. We will move it or get a wifi extender and try again. Hoping this helps fix the battery issue. Probably would hardwire in the future for cameras in spots that are further from the router.

I love these cameras. I miss the Nest app. I am not a fan of the google home app. This new camera does not come with an outdoor cord which I think is ridiculous to have to pay for an outdoor cord when purchasing this expensive outdoor camera. The camera itself is great. The battery life is terrible and it cannot 24 hour record or even recors sound events with just a battery.

Hey there, Nikcam. Thanks for the feedback, and we’re glad that you love the Nest Cam (battery). We hear your concerns about the Home app, the included adapter, battery life, and the recording feature.
We understand that longtime Nest users enjoy viewing their camera feeds from the Nest app. However, our priority is to build a complete experience for our new cameras and doorbell in the Google Home app. We’re working on bringing full functionality to the Home app as we want to create an integrated experience with other Nest and smart home devices. And while the new Nest cameras and doorbells are exclusive to the Google Home app, users with previous versions of Nest cameras can view their camera feeds in the Google Home app alongside the new Nest Doorbell and Nest Cams.
Also, the battery life depends on factors including activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select. You can extend the battery life of your camera by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Check this link for more details: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
The Nest Cam (battery) is designed with versatility in mind, it’s an outdoor/indoor battery powered device out of the box, and can be used with a set of various power accessories including two weatherproof cables with power adapter (sold separately), of 16 ft and 33 ft in length. If you find it more convenient connecting to continuous power that will keep the battery charged, which is required to get 24/7 video history if you have a Nest Aware Plus subscription, we suggest using the weatherproof cable since the included power adapter is not intended for outdoor use.
Your feedback means a lot to us. If there’s anything we can help you around the performance or functionality of your Nest cameras, please let us know by visiting us here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Quality of the Camera is what I've come to expect from Google/Nest but just keep in mind the battery life has a LOT of variability to it. Recommend a 3rd party solar panel or just going for the wired model otherwise you can be spending an annoying amount of time taking it down to charge.
