Good hardware, don’t love some of the changes
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a long time user of this line of products, I was both impressed and disappointed with my purchase. I think they’ve made some significant improvements in the hardware, including the battery, ease of set up and overall durability. Unfortunately, Google’s newer generation of products is incompatible with the old nest app and requires the use of their newer home app instead. And migrating the old cameras to the new app, they lose some functionality. So you’re either left with inferior software, or using two apps if you want to maximize the utility of a system incorporating both older and newer generations of these cameras. If you are only purchasing the latest hardware, you probably won’t regret it, but for people that have the older cameras and want to incorporate one of these, be aware.

Google Nest Cam
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is a breeze to set up in the Google home app and has a lot of great features. It works exactly as expected and the sleek design looks good anywhere it’s placed. For the price, it would be nice if the resolution was higher, but other than that this is a great camera!

Peace of Mind
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It works perfectly when I leave for days so I get alerts and can remotely check in on the interior of my property. When I get home, I can turn it off and easily take it down as the camera to the base is magnetic.

Settings are important
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to install and fit nicely where we needed it to. Battery is good, if it’s in a busy area you might have to charge more frequently but it does an amazing job. Always make sure to check setting for video for how often clips are taken.

Great wireless camera
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super easy to setup. Perfect for places where you can't run wires. But they only record when they sense motion or you turn on live mode. Battery life is decent, worse in cold of course.

Posted .Hi there Gamingmouse, thanks for reaching out to us. We apologize for the short battery life you are experiencing with your Nest Cam (Battery). It's important to check factors such as activity, temperature, and camera settings that you select for your Nest camera. You can extend the battery life by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Here are some typical scenarios for your Nest Cam (Battery):
Busy: About 1.5 months battery life (about 20 - 25 recorded events per day)
Typical: About 3 months battery life (about 9 - 12 recorded events per day)
Quiet: About 7 months battery life (about 2 - 4 recorded events per day)
We also recommend checking the frequency of events that your Nest camera gets in a day. If the short battery life isn´t related to the frequency of events, then we may need to have a closer look at your device and understand what may be causing it. We'd be happy to help check the shorter battery life for your Nest Cam (Battery) by reaching out to our support team here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

Good camera, but one flaw
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a very good camera. It's picture quality is better than many in the price range and is fairly easy to set up. The only issue I have with it, is it does not work with the Nest app. It only works with the Google Home app. I believe Google is doing away with the Net app in the future, but as of now I'd prefer to have all my Nest products in the Nest app and link it to Google home app as I did with my doorbell and thermostat. Other than this inconvenience it is a good camera overall.

We understand that you have long enjoyed viewing your Google Nest devices from the Nest app. We wanted to make the Google Home app as the one place you can control all your favorite Google Nest and other smart home devices with the Google Assistant. Good but could be better
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera as part of my google home setup. The camera has clear picture quality during the day usually but less clear in the evening. Additionally it only records in 30s increments unless it is plugged in. Furthermore, it does require a paid subscription to google at $6 a month or $60 a year if you want it to record anything beyond the last 3 hour time window. All in all a decent camera but there is likely other comparable products on the market that dont charge a monthly fee, this would likely involve having a dvr somewhere in your home instead.

Google Nest Outdoor Wireless battery cameras
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the cameras are good. Easy to setup but the battery use can be a tough one. Had to turn off sound and mic items. Once I did that it is more reasonable. Takes 4-5 hours to charge this units but wireless setup is a breeze.

UTTER GARBAGE DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.UTTER GARBAGE! I have the entire house attached with google mini’s, the kitchen display, chrome, nest thermostats, and a nest doorbell. Needed to add a security camera into the mix, so I go to Best Buy and get this gem of a paperweight. Best Buy is awesome, they have NO fault in this, other than trusting Google like we do, to deliver a quality product. Their products are already overpriced IMO, but I like the Nest Aware and it’s a good looking product. Nest Aware holds your video for 60 days and there are a lot of neat AI things. I know by itself it only records THREE HOURS! Which is stupid because if someone breaks into your car at night…. 3 hours has gone and your overpriced camera is worthless. What the heck is the point of even having a camera then? So you got an event, but don’t know anything and google shares go up? I can’t stay up 24 hours a day waiting to see if something happens within that window!!!!! Am I just suppose tell the cops… LOOK THERE’S AN EVENT!!!! SEEE!!!! No big deal… have the Nest Aware, all’s good. Nest Aware holds 60 days worth of material. I know that it won’t record 24/7 because I’m not plugging it in, that’s kinda THE ENTIRE POINT behind the name “Nest Cam BATTERY!” (And that cable is sold separately and it’s cheap) They just want you to purchase the service. I get it…. Synced to Google Home, everything looks good. Climb the ladder, drill through the house, position it just right… Stand back in marvel at my work, and the quality of the video. The camera automatically syncs with Nest Aware. Get an event today, cool! I check no worries. I look back once I get home, and BOOM this event has expired. So I contact Google via chat and I’m told, not only can you not record more than 3 hours if it’s not plugged in (outdoor plug sold separately) it won’t connect to the Nest Aware account!!!!!! Why the heck did they create this piece of garbage???? 3 hours? For as much as it cost, I could hire someone to sit outside and sketch what’s happening. Thanks for disappointing us yet again google. I should have learned better honestly, MY FAULT. The Hello is SO slow that they deliver packages, get back in the truck and is probably back to their warehouse before it even notifies you. Again… Why???? And oh yeah… I conveniently trusted Google to make a good product, and placed it NO where close to where I can even wire the paper weight.

Posted .Hi Scott, we appreciate you for letting us know of your experience with the Nest Cam (Battery) and we’re sorry that it’s a disappointment for you.
Nest Cam battery is the first battery camera created at Google Nest which features full on device machine learning which can detect pets, vehicles, people, faces and packages all without any cloud processing, and unlike the previous versions of Nest cameras, all the new cameras come with free 3 hour event-based video history. Previously, event-based recording required cameras to stream video to the cloud continuously while active for event detection algorithms to process the video. With onboard machine learning detection and sensors, event-based recording will begin when the sensor detects activity, and you can receive camera alerts as long as you're signed into the app.
While the Nest Cam (battery) must be connected to a power source to have 24/7 video history, If your camera is battery powered, it should still have event video history which will be deleted on a rolling basis after a certain number of days depending on which Nest Aware subscription that you have. But if you’ve set your camera to record and save specific kinds of events in its video history, your camera will detect and process any important activity that it detects, and will only save footage of events that you’ve enabled to the cloud.
Also, you can choose to receive notifications for everything your camera detects, or choose notifications for only certain types of activity. If you’ve turned on critical alerts, you should receive some push notifications even when your phone is set to Do Not Disturb. You can create Activity Zones to cover areas in your camera’s view that you care about, and choose the type of motion you want to be notified of for each zone. You might have to move your camera, change your camera’s angle, or change something in the scene so that you don’t miss important activity. Here’s more information about notification settings you can change for your camera: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9210305
